I’m still at a pretty young age (15) and although your videos may be more focused on the older audiences, I find that watching and listening to your videos gives me a better understanding in life, and to also know that I have much awaiting for the life I have ahead of me. I hope you get to see how thankful I am for you guys sharing your own experiences that truly teach me and open up my eyes
Honestly, listening to your podcasts high asf at 4 am really really made me think deeply about this conversation. I have felt exactly the way Geo did for a very long time. This made me realize that people feel the same way, and reaching out is way more than enough to keep a friendship going. I begin to distance myself whne I feel something is dwindling just so they get annoyed of checking up on me because I never answer. I didn't understand why it was so draining but now I do.

Social media you see so many people going out and having fun and then it makes you feel bad if you’re not always going out and posting about it. We’re connected but at the same Time disconnected.

Came here to ask the same thing! Surprised Bart & Geo was saying they have a small group of friends. Like, I'm more than happy to have a tight small group of friends than a sea of acquaintances. So I would happily be in their position right now. Though it kinda surprised me at the end when they started talking about their family. Like, at least that struggle is something I'm not the only one having. But like they said - it took a common experience in hustling that brought them together. Not sure how to do that irl - especially when Geo was mentioning how David and Tiff are doing stuff to strengthen their friendship. Like... dang if only I had more David and Tiffs in my life.
Bruh I‘m thinking the same thing it’s so hard these days especially if you haven’t had good experiences with people... but maybe if you work on your mindset and start doing things you enjoy and be yourself you attract the right people in your life

Same here. All my friendships after HS drifted apart as everyone went to different colleges and in college I never made more than acquaintances. A year after college, I dont really have anyone at this point aside from some people Ive been talking to online that live in another state.
27:25 I started tearing up cause this is pretty much exactly what I'm going through with my best friend rn I didn't even realize that I had started just reasoning that the separation was "natural" and meant to be until Geo explained it as being a lack of action to maintain the friendship. I think I'm going to try hitting her up to talk it out like Tiff did and see where it goes
You guys are amazing with these podcasts. This has been hella meaningful for me, I've been going through some friendship troubles with how I am interacting with them. I have lost myself and became really bitter for some reason. I feel really bad for the way I am acting especially when we are reconnecting towards one another and I feel like I'm making it fall apart or so drift apart. So hearing about putting our differences on the side and supporting them is something I really needed to hear.

This was a really good episode. It really moved me when Geo talked about Tiff, I am in similar situation with my best friend. It's amazing how much you can realize about yourself and your own behavior just by talking and expressing yourself. I think you two are very similar to me when it comes to not bother people but it is a disservice to others, not to bother them, as much as it is to yourself. Friends helps out when life is hard and the struggle is real, as much as they cheer you on when life is great. To be more out there participating and widening your perspective is something I'm really gonna work on. Thanks for a really great pod, your friends are lucky to have you! ✌️
28:40 woow i can relate so much, i think this is one of my main issues with maintaining friendships, my dumb brain sees two of my friends hanging out and i automatically think cool they don't need me anymore i shouldn't bother them i regret this attitude of me so much bc i just met up after atleast 6 months with one of my closer friends who i have known for 8+ years i believe and it was great, nothing changed if anything we got even closer, i forgot how much fun we used to have, we had this friend group of 4-5 people and i was good with everyone but i had more of a connection with those two and when i started noticing them hanging out more outside of school i kinda stopped asking to join them it's kinda stupid to think that way but i'm going to be 100% honest, i still think like that sometimes although i really shouldn't because at the end of the day we're not in 4th grade anymore where lets be honest girl friendships only really worked out between two people, adults don't care about the best friend title, usually everyone wants to hang out together and not leave ppl out, it's way more fun with more people in the group so yeah i'm trying to take my own advice
I think Geo knows what her problem is and I feel like shes very insecure. From her always looking at the camera, clowning on bart about his lips. The only way she knows how deal with insecurity is to subtract herself from a situation. Her insecurities don't let her be present and I feel like she's always trying to get reassurance beacuse she doesn't feel comfortable with herself. Im very similar to her and I'm cynical about people. lately i've been trying to let go of me ego and past traumas and just be with people.

I clicked the "thumbs up" after @32:00 when Bart mention friendships becoming "sterile" when people remove the burdens.. I feel that's pretty common. Petty drift apart so they don't ask of the same from those people, and the disconnect becomes wider..

But in my situation I had a best friend & we did everything together I mean I considered her as family. Back in August 2018 she was distancing herself & acting different. Long story short I tried reaching out to her & nothing... she "ghosted" me! I was hurt & was thinking maybe I did something wrong but there was nothing. I didn't get any closure!! It will be a year & till this day I still don't know why! There's more to the story but that's way too long! Lol Overall my best friend today is my boyfriend & that's all I need. I had the same problem. Grew up homeschooled and on a farm. Then I got hard core into drugs and really disconnected. Just got worse. I've been really trying to work on it these last few years. Also its harder to make friends as an adult.
My Mom is the same way. She asks if she can take this or if she can do that. It's like why are you asking me? You're my Mom! It took a long time to break that cycle.

Could you guys talk more about the language barrier you have with your in-laws/ parents and how you deal with it in your relationship. My husband’s parents speak little English and as much as I love them I wish we could have a deeper relationship and they could get to know me more. I’ve tried to learn the language (Vietnamese) but I’m struggling and my husband like Bart isn’t great a translating consistently. How do you handle this in your relationship? Any advice?
