- Backrack sells a kit to make their headache racks compatible with various tonneau covers. Unfortunately this kit does not bolt on with side rails.
In this video I show how to modify your mounting brackets to get all 3! Headache rack, Tonneau cover, and Side Rails! Using the Truxedo Lo-Pro Tonneau on a 2014+ GMC or Chevrolet
I am in no way affiliated with the above brands (I had to pay full price too... what a sucker!) My opinions are soley mine, do with them what you wish. - Sport
That’s a great set up. I’m looking to install a similar set up with my tundra.
nice video, great information ! 👍🏽
im planning to put a backrack headache rack with tonneu cover adapter like yours but for the seiderails I plan to order the one for the "toolbox version" I hope to go with the no cut solution
Works great
thats is not a low profile cover.. not sure why he would say it is
When’s the next video!!😞
Great video very informative did you put your tonneau cover on first then the back rack afterwards and on the brackets there is a lip on each one does it face inside the box so it's flushed looking like yours on the outside. Hopefully my install will go well yours looks great. 👍
Rack and siderails have to go on before the tonneau cover. The siderails are partially between the tonneau tracks and sides of the truck box.
Do you think the side rails would work with the back rack with the gator fx3 tonneau cover on my silverado? Thanks and great video and love the truck
It looks like it shouldn't interfere with the backrack itself. From what I can see the tonneau has a 4-6" panel at the front that stays put. As long as the tonneau sits entirely BETWEEN the bed sides and not at all on top, it shouldn't be an issue. Keep in mind the side rails do take about 1/4" of width away from between the bed sides, so the tonneau needs to be skinny enough to fit between the reduced space. If you do install, let me know!
Can you use the back bar with the side rails
Not sure what you mean?
I plan on doing a similar setup without the side rails. Do you think it's doable without cutting back the metal piece (from the backrack) by an inch?
Yes. Thats what the stock "tonneau install kit" is for
Would like to get the side rails for my truck where can I purchase those please comment back thank you
Backrack brand. Most North American truck upfiitters will carry or order them.
@@MackenzieGodwin OK thank you very much
Do you have the truxedo cover that comes off and if you do does the rack interfere with it coming off? Thanks.
It is the Lo-Pro model from the summer of 2016. It does not have the rigid backflip style front that some of the newer ones do, the backrack would get in the way of that style.
My cover can come off entirely with 2 sliding clips at the front leaving the tonneau side rails installed.
Mackenzie Godwin So the back rack doesn’t block the cover from coming off?
@@theocarbone not the model I have. The cover is installed after the rack, so inherently it has to be able to be removed while the rack is installed
Thumbs up from me.?
