Far beneath the majesty and splendour of the Paris Opera House, hides the Phantom in a shadowy existence. Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, the love he holds for his beautiful protégée Christine Daaé is so strong that even her heart cannot resist.
The musical opened at Her Majesty’s Theatre on 9 October 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles, and there have been dozens of productions worldwide since then. Now in its 30th record-breaking year, The Phantom of the Opera continues to captivate audiences at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End, after more than 11,000 performances.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s mesmerizing score along with jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking special effects, magically combine to bring this tragic love story to life each night. - Hudba
I’m not a fan of most musicals, but Phantom truly is a masterpiece of musical theater. The nature of the story lends itself so well to theatrical mesmerization. I was lucky enough to see the show in 2012, the year Hugh Panaro played the Phantom.
Try "Little shop of horrors" thats a musical too, soon have you converted lol.
Plants?? Do not compare! To the phantom!!!!
It's funny because most die hard musical fans hate this show, while most no musical fans love it. It's weird.
@@amystuckey5900 how bout we just stop comparing shows.
@@elphbwckd212 from my perspective, yeah some really REALLY hate this show. But I also think that for some its the whole thing of like Phantom being a little overrated, taking the spotlight off of a lot of shows that also deserve some spotlight. They hate the attention it gets, not really the show itself.
Ghosts, spectres, and phantoms, by their nature, can never die. Chandeliers might break, but, they too, can be replaced. And through a period of desolation, where the unsung voices echoed silently in our minds and in our hearts, the Phantom still prowled Broadway, the West End, theatres across the globe. And now is the time for his glorious return. The chandelier rises, and with it, the Phantom conducts the orchestra of the spheres once again. And we, more than ever, will listen to the music of the night. To the Opera Ghost, welcome back.
What a beautiful posting. Thank you.
Yep, I'm crying. Happy tears! He's back!!!
FINALLY. The phantom has returned. The Phantom of the opera is there... Back in the theater-
Still the most thrilling moment in live theatre: the stage lights flash, the frenzied chromatic overture sparks, and the crumpled faux-crystal beast throws off its aged shroud and lurches forward, rebirthed in blazing ecstasy, to take possession of its audience.
It's easy to get addicted.
wow that was powerful
I cry everytime I see it and thinking of it gives me chills!!!
Welcome back Phantom!!!The phans missed youuuuuu!!!!
April of 2023, it comes down for the last time and leaves Broadway. Little more than a year after coming back.
Got a little teary. Feels so good that it's back. Things are right again.
The greatest musical ever!!! 👍👍
Greatest musical ever created! Can’t wait to be back at the Majestic! Seen the show 6 times and we’re taking our daughter for the first time in December! Welcome back, Phantom! We’ve missed you!
I got emotional!!!🥺🥺🥺🌹🌹🌹🌹
I can't put into words how much joy this show bring to my heart and soul. The music, the cosumes, the characters, everything about it makes me so utterly happy. Hearing this melody again, seeing the chandalier rise again after what fwlt forever, all of it is just so incredibly beautiful and magical. Welcome back phantom, we missed you. 💕
Welcome back, King of The Musicals!!!
Wow!
Gentlemen!
I love the orchestra. However, nothing beats the violin solo moving into the graveyard.
That part always reminds me of Tubular Bells. It's a great piece of music.
@@merenwen4495 I never thought about that... I can see that. Btw, there is a really cool arrangement for violin on CZcams.
Got to see the reopening last night! It is still every bit as majestic as the theatre it's named after if not moreso. Welcome back to Broadway, Phantom!
Love this!
That instrumental part in 'Music of the Night' always sends shivers down my spine.
YOU TOO????? I acted as Christine in a short production at my local theatre, and I actually cried at the end.
@@antony5384 awhhh😭😂
This is absolutely something I'm going to do during my winter break, because it's my favorite Broadway musical of all time.
Dear Phantom Of The Opera, I have missed you dearly, and I am glad to see you back on Broadway this year!
Yes!!! Welcome back!! You have my heart ❤️!!
This is the only reason I want to go to New York just to see this show live on stage! Never seen it live in person before, but listened to the 1986 London cast, 2004 movie, and the Royal Albert Hall celebration many times
I just visited NYC. I hadn't been for 30 years and never attended a Broadway show before. I've seen live theater in other cities and was never impressed. Decided to buy a ticket to the Phantom just to get the whole New York experience. I bought the cheap seat tickets and wasn't expecting much, but I ended up loving it and hope I can see it again before it leaves Broadway.
@@kensmith2796 My Uncle's been a huge Phantom fan since he was in high school. Saw the show around a hundred times and he made his own Red Death costume. I don't know how long ago he made it, but he's in the process of redoing it. He's also collected stage pieces for his collection
@@bellasalceies4138 That's really cool. If I get to see the show again I will probably spend more money to get better seats so that I can see the actors and costumes in better detail than balcony seating. I hope you get a chance to go!
Beautiful!! One day I will be there, watching this masterpiece... ❤
Goosebumps! I saw in Malaysia with Megan Picerno and Jonathan Roxmouth. I couldn't believe I saw it by my own eyes after so long just dreamed of it and the tunes by ALW are hauntingly gorgeous 🤗
"Why so silent good Messieurs, the Chandelier is up again"
I love how much love the story and show is getting, my favorite musical of all time and is so good to see theater reopening
I am absolutely BAWLING. She lives again!!!!!
Goosebumps to the Orchestra!! Perfection!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Glad to see the Brilliant Original come back intact
I can't believe of this beautiful musical come to broadway soon 🤩Thanks for all the staffs 🤗
Saw it in March of 2016. It was great and I am sure that it will be great once again.
Got to see it twice I shall see it again
yesssss ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yasss 👏
The magic returns
Brought tears to my eyes. Having watched Phantom of the opera 15 times (safe to say), it has a special place in my heart. MAY THAT CHANDELIER NEVER DIM AGAIN! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
MAY IT CRASH BUT IT SHALL RISE ONCE MORE
God this comment makes me sad now
THIS is what I'm here for. Not the gutted monstrosity Mackintosh has made of a masterpiece in London.
Ehhhh, some of the tweaks from London made their way to NYC
@@williammclean5897 but thankfully not the tweak of sacking half the orchestra.
@@1pureboy1 agreed. I like to think that the musicians union had a hand in it
@@williammclean5897 If they mess with the costumes or wigs, or the set--they will hear it from fans. If they try and fire all the backstage crew, their unions will have a legal field day. If they try and fire the current cast and replace it entirely with the cast of the last restaged tour, even better for the unions and the lawyers. They can't touch too much in Broadway without a massive backlash. People have seen London and aren't impressed. I hope that holds.
Otherwise they might as well axe all costumes and just make it a glorified concert like Les Mis.
Awesome!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This show must go on until the end of humanity!
I hate to break the news...😢
I miss this! I’m so happy its happing agian
I got chills. I’m so glad its back. My favorite musical of all time😭😍❤️
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Still can’t believe this show is closing its so amazing. My parents got me tickets to see it soon I’m so excited
Welcome back, Phantom! I'm so happy and overwhelmed!! 😭❣
Been a fan for 28yrs.. brought tears to my eyes to see it return... Met many cast members .. have worked on the show as an assistant . Glad to see the chandelier rise again. ... Can't wait for my trip to new York...next summer
am i the only one who got chills watching that?
But is it a full piece orchestra, though?
I love this, I’m so glad it’s back!🥳✨💜
Yes! NY has unions unlike London. They've got the full 27 musicians.
@@blissinchains YESSSS! Thank you!😂🥳
This is the only place to see the original production. London now has a cut down version to save money.
@@1pureboy1 No, correction: to make Cameron Mackintosh MORE money. He's a billionaire; he's not hurting for funds. He could have kept it as lavish and iconic as it was. He didn't. That was his choice, and it's a mockery of the masterpiece that the show truly is.
@@1pureboy1 Gosh, I don’t like that, London. But I’m glad the original is still here!
Just saw it tonight and the opening alone gave me full body chills. But with the proper phantom theme of course
Phantom of the Opera is Masterpiece 😇🥰😍🤩🎹🎼🎵🎶
How wonderful. That organ!
The fact just that gave me goosebumps is absolutely brilliant 😭
This is so exciting!
My 2022 resolution is to take my bonus child to see Phantom on Broadway!!!
"WOOOW"...
My wife and I got married back in Jan. of 2021, but we had to postpone our honeymoon until this December due to obvious reasons... We spent 5 days in Manhattan and the highlight of the trip was getting to go over to the Majestic and watching Phantom. What an amazing time... it's something that is going to stay fresh in my mind for the rest of my life!
The king, has returned…
Wrong musical
@@jenniferwills9752 what kept you?

Oh! This musical gives life! Beautiful and amazing!❤️
Shivers! ❤️️
My goosebumps are getting goosebumps.
AMAZING 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀💞💞😍❤️🤗❤️🤩😃😍😍❤️❤️🤩
The most beautiful music on Broadway!
i saw this at the majestic back in 2009 when i went to new york for my school's senior trip and i absolutely loved it. i would love to see it again if i ever had the chance. i've seen the movie as well but there's something more satisfying seeing it on stage than on screen.
It still gives me chills when you hear the organ music begins and then seeing the chandelier begin to rise. I saw The Phantom of the Opera on tour in Seattle and it became really special show when the audience found out that it was their 3 or 4,000 performance (?) I can't remember the exact number. But it was awesome.
Oh My Gosh!! This gave me goosebumps 🤧🤍
I'm crying. Good lord.
Come we must return those two fools who run my theater will be missing you. The Phantoms best line.
🌹
YES
_I feel so alive right now!_
And it’s closing in February 2023😭
This musical is going to last til the end of time
Magnifique!!! ❤❤
❤❤❤
😍😍😍😍
😍😍😍
A Chandelier in pieces.
💓💓💗💗🎬🎬
To a prosperous year!
You can almost think of the chandelier rising again as sort of a metaphor for the theaters opening up again.
Wish I could be there T’nite!!!!!!! My mom has been Looking since July at Plane Tckts & Show Tckts for 2022!!!!!!!
Man I'm literally crying rn
Queria poder assistir.....
My favorite story when i was studied my secondary school.
this made me cry LOL broadway is so cool and beautiful wtf
I went with my mom as a teenager, didn’t want to go to some stupid show…the moment the chandelier lit and the overture came on, I was spell bound…took my wife there for her first how and took my kids yesterday for their first show…the best show on broadway!
🤩👏😍👏
👏👏👏👏👏👏
So Sad they are Closing The Phantom of The Opera on Broadway. 😮💨😔😥😢😩
Excuse me while I go cry real quick.
Soon
I read the title as “Chandler Rises Again on Broadway”
How do I watch it?
You book a ticket and go to New York to see it.
I’m not crying you’re crying
First ever so cool to comment
Wait so the audience can be unmasked?
this production is iconic and amazing and every positive attribute ever including sexy
but you have to admit the old chandelier design is ugly
the thing looks like a gold-plated ufo lmfao
Not a fan of the revised dialogue after “lot 666”. What was wrong with “a chandelier in pieces”?
How dare you post this with the wrong song 😭
Whatchu talking about?
@@jenniferwills9752 The chandelier rises with the Phantom Overture in the musical. The song in the video is the Music of the Night, a lovely song, sure, but it's wrong for that scene. No, I'm not being entirely serious, I just LOVE the overture, and was expecting it here because they do the opening auction speech and all. But they switch the mood with a different song. Still nice video though, happy to see they're back on stage. Wish I could go.
