Awesome video as always Chris ! Only thing I think you forgot to mention is that you should NEVER drive impact the HP flash Knuckle when Luke has 3 super bars, as most of the time he will buffer his level 3 and beat the DI with this technique...

Luke can also intentional overcharge the medium flash knuckle and catch the DI.

Great video! One thing worth noting about punishing sand blast after a perfect parry is that even without the screen freeze it still has the 50% PP scaling penalty as long as it's a punish counter, so even if a character doesn't have access to a long combo starter normal but can only go for sweep, they're not necessarily losing out on much as oki/drive meter damage is what you should be going for in this scenario.

good advice. in regards to the second one, and maybe i'm wrong but so far so good in my experience- you can fairly reliably look out for luke's windup for his hp knuckle and DI it. If he projectiles, keep blocking, but if you look at him step back and his arm go behind him, smash that DI asap

Well articulated, in practice sandblast is easier to perfect parry than a fireball which has speeds which vary to a greater degree.

Any tips for characters with weaker reversal options? A lot of these mention interrupting him with a reversal. Im on dhalsim, for example.
I guess there's always "just dont let him get started" or "just block and try to tech or mash until you can dive kick" but that's not exactly unique to the Luke matchup
Maybe you can teleport if you see Luke's target combo lp-mp-hp- h knuckle
I don’t play sim and he’s a pretty specific character, but generally the idea is if you (as a zoner character) let the opponent get in your face you already made a big mistake
@@Chris_F I did see you can teleport behind him if he charges heavy knuckle after a blockstring. That's about all I got haha.

5:17 I cant press a button (8frame or less) after the second hit if he does the 4 hit string, i used Marisa and Ryu mashing it and non mashing it, nothing comes out. Thanks for the video though these will be a big help
That’s the point - if he ends it you get your MP, but if he finishes the string you go for your next punish. It stops the guessing on your end!

He’s frustrating to fight for sure. Personally I’d rather fight Luke than JP but they are both pretty stressful characters to fight

Yes he can, you have to be careful when he has lvl 3

you forgot to mention that 214 HP can be cancelled into CA3, which makes the DI option not the best solution. I think the best solution should be perfect parry, for both charged and non-charged version. If you get the Perfect Parry, that's good, if you don't, at least you don't lose too much of your drive gauge. If that's a non-charged version, you can use neutrals that are 4 frames to punish counter it.
This is def good advice for when he has 3 bars

It's so boring playing against Luke, it's literally grounded playing walking back and forth till they hit you with either crMP or CrMK. So patience is key...
I think trying to perfect parry into DR to punish his sandblast from close range is really fun

I wouldn’t consider this situational, these are all key to fighting good Luke players - especially perfect parry against his fireball
