I love your channel. Totally agree with your ethics regarding the use of fallen branches etc for fire etc, I carry a Bacho laplander no axe. I enjoy pine needle tea... Plenty of bilberry in the UK moors and uplands. Rokka looks very relaxed by the fire... Awaiting snow fall locally were I live so I can get away for a few days into nearby forests and fells. I look forward to your next adventure. PS I used to have my Welsh Collie to accompany my adventures, She always liked to lead.. But in dense undergrowth, bilberry, Heather, bracken etc would certainly back off and follow me.
This Hammastuntri hike is a very scenic one. Maybe you can do one again this winter. ( some different routes & spots) Initial days of snowfall make it more beautiful.
Thanks for a fine video again. Scenes brougth memories to me, I have hiked three times in Hammastunturi Wildernes area, mostly near Ivalojoki river, but also west and north of Appistunturi. One of those hikes, at year 1994, was the 35th anniversary hike of HRUP Sissikerho (Ranger Club) and the hike ended at my 35th birthday. Btw, in this time of year I would use rubber boots large enough for two pairs of wool socks!
Yeah I think the areas around Ivalojoki are the most popular ones and also seem to have most of the wilderness huts. There was no way for me to do the prior Koli hike with rubber boots, it was challenging even with these, but perhaps in this area I could've used them.
Had a huge flashback when I saw your second campsite. Urinated at the exact location where your tent was. Well, it was end of august so guess there weren't any bad fumes left. Sorry anyways😅
@@TaivalOutdoors The weather was windy and unusually hot. Had even my own "beach vacation" at Sokerilahti(bay in Hammasjärvi). It felt kind of a wrong to hang on a huge sandy beach in the heat(~+23°C) when you have come to struggle and suffer in the wilderness😁
I have been a huge fan of your more classical “vlog” style video but damn, this was very cinematic! The amount of work you put into this definitely paid off. But one question: Do you have product recommendations for snowshoes and walking poles?
Thanks a lot, happy to hear that! For walking poles I haven't yet found anything I'd recommend over others. I've had TSL 227 XL snowshoes now for one season and can already recommend. Sure, they were pricey in my opinion, but the features and floating capacity are top notch. They come with a good storage sack and if you break some part of them, you can get replacement part instead of buying another set of snowshoes.

Hyvä kysymys! Toisinaan on ollut mukana sellainen maaruuvi, nyt ei ollut. Siitä syystä kaivoin vaellussauvalla pienen montun, johon laitoin keskisalon. Koiran hihna sitten keskisalossa kiinni. Teltassa tosin rauhoittuu niin paljon ettei edes yritä mihinkään lähteä.

Usually double socks, first a thin synthetic and then merino wool.
