- In this video, I take the look at the ZoneOS and see if it is a disc that just anyone can bag. ZoneOS Disc Review. Paul McBeth had some choice words about the disc and I tried to see if I could prove him wrong. Discraft.

My personal experience with it so far has me thinking it will be a cheat-code in my bag. With it being so reliable, and able to bend it around tight corners, it’s a good approach disc. It is beefy, but requires touch. We’ll see how I feel about it after spending some time with it.

As soon as I got the zone OS I threw it three times and put it on the rack and there will stay for the rest of its life😂 useless disc

I feel like you need super overstable disc for get out of jail free card. Like when you have to throw very tight flex shots with forehand or like patent pending. Should it be this disc thats for people to decide but i do see utility in a disc like this

I actually use and love mine. It’s a sick disc for scrambling and for crazy shots which is how I like to play. Hopefully not the scrambling part but the crazy shots part for sure

Paul only said that about the Zone OS because of the Brodie beef. He doesn't like Brodie Smith and that is Brodies tour series disc currently.

I need Paul n Brodie's face printed on a Zone OS.
I’m still pretty sure McBeth only said that bc Brodie helped design the disc and it’s his tour series. The beef between those two remains real.
What beef? I know mcbeth was coaching brodie when he got into the sport. What happened?
@@fishoutofwater3752 When Paul left Foundation Brodie felt like he was being left high and dry especially since he had just moved to VA to be a part of Foundation. Sounds like it ended up getting more personal than that afterwards but neither had been super clear on it. For his part I know Brodie doesn’t even throw any discs with Paul’s name on them (which is a lot of Discraft discs at this point).
the beef is exactly why the zoneos is so beefy
I always have at least 3 different zones bagged, typically one is OS. It’s not for every shot but when I need it I’m glad it’s in there.
If it lets me throw 250', I'll take a dozen. 😂😭
If u can't already throw 250 urnot getting the zone os any further then 100 ft maybe
I still like my Toro, its basically a usable zone os imo. Hopefully a halo release or stock metal flake comes out

Right? 😅 It's not for distance shots at all, this guy sucks in general. He's good copying edit styles and that's about it. Doesn't feel like a dg channel at all
Paul was right. I have one but I rarely use it.
If you have a powerful forehand or something with a lot of torque it’s useful. My regular zones just fly straight so if I need something that actually fades like its supposed to I might need one. Still not throwing it though because its a goofy idea.
Paul said at one point that an Anax was his most overstable disc in his bag so I’m not too surprised he doesn’t care for it.

I use a yikun crossbow for this slot, far too many people want to get distance out of these types of super overstable non aerodynamic discs. You're not meant to get distance from it, these are in the purest form of the word, utility discs, the provide utility on shots where more base and disc like designs can't get the flight you're hoping for, I have a crossbow in the bag at all times now, the amount of times of used it for weird flex shots through trees or choppy over the head forehands that I needed to get right quickly at the end of the flight would surprise you, when you have the disc, and have the shot figured out, it opens up a whole new world for your game

My ESP zone that I’ve had for a year still flies plenty OS for me. I play 2-3 times a week and use it probably 5-6 times a round. I can’t imagine needing the Zone OS but hey some people have cannons for arms
I have discs for specific shots on my local courses that I don't really use at all if I'm on a new course that I don't know.
@@jjhill001 I used to carry 25 discs in my squatch bag, but kept finding myself using 4 or 5 discs for most courses. Now I bring the squatch bag with the 25 discs in it and an upper park shift bag which can carry a lot but can hold 8 without falling apart. I’ll pick the 8 or so that I carry before the round out of the squatch bag and just carry the shift bag to save weight. Especially in the summer where it’s north of 100° where I live.

Just don't order any discs with the extra 5 dollar stamps. 4 times I've paid for it but not received. Guy ALLWAYS makes it right no questions asked with refund or store credit. ALLWAYS. But, I'd prefer to have a few hotdog bandit stamps.

Which putters can you throw further than 250ft? I’m always reaching for a mid range or a fairway driver from that distance.

I got one and use it pretty often. Tight flex shots and small range sidearms when trying to go for the basket. It’s very reliable, have hit chains multiple times with the Zone OS with a chip sidearm from 25-50m.
I couldn’t get it to go much further than… how many feet ? It was legitimately about 150 😂😂😂

An extremely o.s disc is soooooo useful. I have a rhyno, zone, tactic , and Toro in my bag lol

L.L. woods is like the last place you'd need it though...there are two holes at Lewisville lake that are perfect for it with a forehand throw, and #18 is perfect for it on a backhand. Not to mention how well it works for recovery shots when you're blocked out.

if you play in a windy area, you might should have one or two in the bag. no wind? no need for a zone OS.
From what I can tell from your description it’s probably good for beginners but not a good choice for someone who is good
I cant think of a worse disc for beginners. Beginners should be no where near a disc this stable
I’m not even a fan of Paul, but if the six time says it’s pointless, I’m definitely not letting one lucky chain out put it in my bag.
Honestly I know it’s unpopular opinion but ZoneOS is great here in Kansas, constant high winds here so it works great for upshot’s, it doesn’t skip in the soft plastic and doubles as a great putter in the wind, the soft plastic is money

Who cares how far it can go? It's meant for stupid headwinds and for shaping flex shots in the woods. If it can only go 200, it's still very useful.

Calling the Zone a "putter" is kinda pushing the limit already. For something to actually BE a putter, someone has to ACTUALLY putt with it on occasion.

This is a debate for the ages. There really is no universal definition of where a putter stops and the midrange begins. Most long time players would not call the zone or anything like it a putter, its just a really slow, really overstable midrange. There are plenty of 4 speed midranges on the market.
