  • In this video I do a relative compression test on my work van with my Topdon Phoenix Scope using the AC voltage method and no Amp clamp. #mobilemechanic #oscilloscope #compressiontest #topdon

Good video and good explanation of the relative compression test. I do mobile work part-time near Houston and am just now trying to get a CZcams channel started. I was actually going to try to make a video today about doing Relative compression testing, but I ended up not having time to do it today, so maybe tomorrow. I'm still pretty new to using a scope, but have actually used the relative compression test a few times to help diag low compression & timing problems on a few vehicles so far.......it definitely saves alot of time & labor and is pretty cool to be able to pretty much know you have a compression and/or timing related problem just by seeing the waveform. Scanner Danner's one of the first real diag guys I ever saw on CZcams or anywhere and has always inspired me to try to become a better diag guy......and Test, don't guess.

Sounds like we're In the same boat I'm also relatively new to scope usage and testing waiting on getting an amp clamp and some other accessories for it and I will be making more videos related to oscilla scopes in the near future hopefully stay tuned and if you get your channel started definitely let me know and I will check it out

Yeah is definitely good to get whatever accessories and stuff you can. And learn whatever you can. Like anything the more you use it the better you'll get at using it and will come up with new ideas on different things to use it for. I've only used mine a few times for any kind of real diag, but eventually it pays off because there's some stuff you can only see with a scope that no other tool will show you, or it's just alot faster and quicker and more accurate to use the scope. I need to start practicing with mine more. @@Andys_Auto

I actually started the channel awhile ago.......but didn't get any content posted until a few weeks ago.......and it was actually just a spontaneous kind of impulse to do my first video just to get some kind of content on my channel a couple weeks ago.......and am still totally new to making videos or editing.....and have no fancy equipment or knowledge or experience at all........but got a few videos posted on my channel now.......probably terrible videos and content......but eveyone's gotta start somewhere......and just wanted to get some kind of content posted on my channel......good or bad......at least I'm trying.@@Andys_Auto

Cool video! Back in high school we had an Allen Smart Scope that was the size of a modern large refrigerator. The shop teacher put on a demonstration using the scope. It just looked like a bunch of squiggly lines to me. I'd like to learn the scope.

Yeah when I first started looking into waveforms that's exactly what they looked like to me too lol
