7:06 Those are two things you can use to calibrate the scope and/or check the integrity of the probes you are using. The little metal square on the left is a signal generator that produces a 1khz 2V peak-to-peak square wave. You can connect you probe to it and make sure the signal you're seeing measures as a perfect square wave at the correct frequency and voltage. The other little metal square beside it with the ground symbol pointing at it is indeed a ground point.

Oh that's really good to know. I never would have thought that. One thing I do know is that they Thinktool scope is about $1100 where is the Topdon used to be about $500-550 now they have moved the price up to $900! I got lucky! But I hope you'll find my videos enjoyed by playing to make some more. So stay tuned and thanks a lot.

I gotta be honest, this scope is very hard to get started with. But like anything, once you get the hang of it it gets easier to work with.

No not really but it's PC based so that means you don't have to use it with a specific scan tool.

Depends. It not quite as easy to get started with as you would with a Picoscope for two main reasons - the software is not as intuitive and there are not a lot of videos on this scope software out there. There are a few good videos including mine and i can send you links if you want. With that said, if you are patient and willing to learn, yes you can use this as your first scope.
What the intuators used for
To step scale down the voltage, since voltage spikes from some components can exceed the threshold of the scope and damage it, such as with fuel injectors for example.
Does it have signal generator?
No it doesn't.
My thoughts also
Looks crowded. A real world technician isn’t going to have 2 bulky boxes under the hood ratcheted together with a usb cable. If it was wireless like autel it’d be game changing
Yeah I agree it's not a good first scope and it is a bit cumbersome to use. Like anything else. If you get used to it it can work out. But again I do totally agree with what you said. I actually have a uScope and I'll be making some videos with that soon.
What? Ever used a picoscope? Wires galore. I have an 8 channel scope set up on a diagnostic cart I roll around the shop.🤷♂️part of modern day shop life.
@@LynxStarAutohe’s clueless he doesn’t use a scope apparently. He thinks one usb cable makes it cumbersome. The Autel has cables as well and the Obd wire to the Autel makes it not so wireless anyway
