I bought a phenix smart elite.. its done everything I've asked of it from 2023 Hondas to mini cooper's, diamler/Chrysler, flats, jeeps.

I sent my XTool D8BT back. Clunky user interface, old android, lack of customer support, no battery voltage etc. Topdon is awesome !!!

Great review. I just purchased my Phoenix Plus and so far it appears very useful. The instructions that came in the case are very sparse - I'm having problems with file management of my recorded data. Supposedly these files can be downloaded to a PC but nothing is really explained about what can be done with recorded data streams.

i just got one on ebay amazon wanted $900+on sale. on ebay after taxes and some promo discounts i paid $719 brand new. still had peel off on the screen. i was almost about to get the lite 2 but ill take this for nearly the same price! now just need to do some research on how much i can actually do with it ha!

Do you know if this (or any other similar unit) can access the status of rf modules such as WiFi, cellular, or OnStar?
My company sometimes checks executive's vehicles for unauthorized tracking devices and it would be helpful to be able to turn off the built in signals while we are checking for other radio transmissions.
I am not sure, but I'll test that out and let you know. I would like to know myself.

I don't see it listed on any web sites but I realize it would likely be a minor feature among many, and maybe not significant to most mechanics.
It appears that you can manipulate some things about the Wi-Fi like it gives an option to remove module or to reset the password or to give it a password for example. This is under telematics communication module which you probably could just unplug I think. As far as the OnStar I didn't really see anything.

In the market for a new scan tool now. I always wonder what features will be lost when you don't renew, skipping a year or more.
For the scantool in this video you don't lose any features if you don't renew.
The Think tool Pro S looks exactly the same as Phoenix Plus. Same price too. Would one choose TopDon over Think Car or vice versa?
They are essentially the same scantool. There could be some nuanced differences but not enough to make them so different from one another. It's hard to say which one to go with for this reason. I think either way you will be happy.

You have to pay for a subscription then you can just log into it with the web browser.
How much is all data?
Have you noticed topdon and launch software seems very similar if not the same lol. Works great
It is based on Launch, just like Thinkcar is as well.

How much the subscription costs? Will the tool be functional without updating it?
The tool is 100% functional without buying any updates. But if you decide to update, I believe updates cost $545 a year.

@@davesalichuk5961 the Phoneix has a more bells and whistles, you can't go wrong with either unit. But if you get a D8 on sale I'd go with the D8, it has 3 years free update and can read CAN FD data if that is pertinent for you. And besides the D8 just got topological scanning. But again, I do love my Phoenix Plus.

I never tried to register it with autoauth. So I'm not sure but it's supposed to work. But honestly Topdon treats this scantool like a stepchild and you never hear them. Talk a lot about it at expo's on their website or anything. I hope they consider the scan too. More love for this is actually one of the very good mid tier scan tools that have a lot to offer.

@One and Done DIY thank you very much for the information no one was talking about this what I was wondering is why smoke wasn't pouring out of the vent valve when it was open makes me wonder if it was stuck closed that was strange
Will it show cam and crank sensor signals do you know and have live data sorry for all the questions I'm about to but it on ebay just making sure

I guess they are saying we need a 12+8 cable.
