It was the media in the courtroom that inspired me to go back to school and get my paralegal criminal law degree.
Thank you Nate!!! 😊
Why aren’t all court cases transparent. I never understand why cameras are frowned upon. The public deserves disclosure.
The public deserves nothing , they are not a planetuff. They have lost nothing. The public has no right to anything. It is the judge's court😮
Absolutely! They need to be held to transparency, especially how shady and secretive this case has been from the beginning. There is going to be so much speculation out there if people can’t see what’s going on first hand. What are they trying to cover up by keeping cameras out? That’s what everyone is going to be thinking.
@stephm4349 I don't believe they care what the majority thinks. Like the judge said , it Is his job to do what he thinks is the best for the families and witnesses, and hevis right, not our call.
They just don't want the embarrassment. that's why they don't want camera. We are all allowed to go to court room and observe. But it is not big enough for us all to enter.
We need cameras in the courtroom!!!!
Thank You Nate. Well wishes
I would think the judge could make a decision and leave cameras on! Why satisfy him..family and public deserves to hear case
It is HIS trial.
The taxpayers pay for our justice system. Let us see and learn how it operates. Please have cameras in the court room. You can use discretion in sensitive areas.
Hopefully the judge follows the law and not his personal subjective opinions. He has valid points but there is absolutely no way taking cameras OUT of the courtroom will improve the news anchor talking points…🙄🙄 This is a huge case and the public has a right to see justice served-whether it be guilty or not guilty.
Exactly. If there are no cameras, there is going to be even more speculation and rumor. The public needs to see the facts and not hear second hand interpretations. No cameras will just equal more speculation and rumors. Very bad idea - no one will trust the verdict, whatever it is if they haven’t witnessed the facts themselves.
Thank You, Nate Eaton #East Idaho News 🗞️ and Family.
Thank You Nate 😊
The court house doesn't belong to a judge, it belongs to the people, it is paid for by the people, and so is a judge. He is a public servant, and as Constitutional law holds primacy over statute laws, codes, or policies, the public have a right to know exactly what is being said, and what decisions are being made by judges in those courtrooms. Has all the evidence been looked at? Has any evidence been omitted, or disallowed, and if so, why? We all have a right to get "full transparency" from our public officials.
😂😂😂😂
Shame on your self serving, willfull ignorance!
Your rights are not violated. So just stop! Are you the defendant? Are you the victim?
Are you the plaintiff, a.k.a., the state of Idaho? Do you pay taxes to the state of Idaho, as a resident of Idaho, within its' borders, therefore, within its' juristriction?
You have your own state that your tax dollars are paid to. Every court case in your state lists your state as the plaintiff: meaning you & all residents of your state & that is when you have a right & entitlement to every court case in your state, if you, so desire it!
Residents can demand video and audio through their voting powers & incentives offered to their elected officials! F.O.I.A. gives you access to your states' cases as well as other states, after the verdict!
This judge has no obligation to any other states' residents or state laws other than his own!
If he makes audio or video available to the public, nationwide, it is a favor or courtesy! It is not your right! Your right ends where Idaho borders begin because you are not a party, entity or participant in this case!
This judge has real rights to protect & lawful procedures that he must enact, meet & successfully complete.
Worrying about every joeshi+smuck, (nationwide & worrldwide), selfishly demanding to be digitally present in his courtroom, & lying and saying that he is violating their rights, when he isn't, they're just to selfish to get out of their feelings to know that they are unlawfully claiming privelages that do not belong to them.
Your feelings don't matter to truth and true laws! Stop falsely accusing & ignorantly demanding.
This judge is charged to protect this case and the people that are named in it!
Your name isn't there so he owes you nothing!😂
I agree the camera is like me being allowed access to sit in a court proceeding
Anyone can do whatever they want now, haven’t you heard? It’s happening in every area of our society these days.
I have served in many court rooms. The Judge is the only ruling force in there. One Judge ordered no gum chewing. He can exclude people from "his court". I love Court TV. My arteries are clogging from sitting and watching trials. I, however, do not think it will be mentally beneficial for the family to witness the dirty little details that brought this murdering maniac to trial. Its horror that their child was killed, but they don't need the testimony of how he stuck the knife in and turned it. They'll replay the testimony in their minds for eternity. Anyone will have access to the printed trial transcript and that would be gruesome enough to digest. Mental health for the family to move on in life is important. But, as a parent, I would savor the option to be near the killer in hopes I could get an option to snap his neck. I vote cameras and pray for the families. I also fear this unstable genius will walk free again. I want to see how his lawyers win over the jury.
First amendment right (press and speech included) cameras = yes
Arguing about cameras being in courtrooms when courtrooms have PERMANENT cameras in them ALREADY!!EVERYTHING you say in a courtroom is VIDEO and AUDIO recorded ALREADY!
Yes, but not available to the media & public. Of course it is recorded for historical purposes.
It is subject to FOIA for anyone who requests it , so, yes it is PUBLIC.@@bridgwll
A lot of money will be made from this while the dead wait to get their peace
They need to have cameras in court room. Everyone needs to see what is going on
The OJ Simpson case was live coverage. OJ was one of the most recognizable faces in the world. BK needs to stop the whining
Same with Casey Anthony
Two different situations you cannot compare-- we did not have social media until 1997. Social media is the central issue here.
Social media is not the central issue nor can the Judge control that. Responsible journalists documenting the proceedings is the issue. Trials are for the public and not meant to be done in secrecy behind closed doors.
@@lsen9015 it IS about social media, as JUDGE Ashley and all the other ATTORNEYS have stated; it is because of social media that we need to ensure responsible journalism.I was not arguing a point; in fact, I agree with you.
Judges observation that it can get out of control is correct. Hope the judicial/ public can come to concensus about transparency/ rules/ rights in this new Era of wild west media.
Full transparency. Nothing else is acceptable.
There should be full transparency. The people pay for the courts and should have full access to the proceedings.
Why does he have a big smile on his face the whole time?
Probably because he's a psychopath.
Stop protecting these fools. Get on with it!
He LOVES all of the attention that he is receiving, and he’s gonna stretch it out for as long as he possibly can!!!!
I think 4 chairs should be added to the prosecution table with the 4 people's pictures, he allegedly killed.
He hasn't been CONVICTED yet. We can't officially call him a killer!
@@thomasshingleton9289bwahaha Bwahaha
@@thomasshingleton9289ok the alleged killer
Has this been argued in the US Supreme Court? If not, it needs to be. The public has an absolute right to access to courtrooms. We deserve full access. It’s not “novelty”, as was stated, it’s our right to ensure that our laws are enforced and justice is done. I’m tired of this argument for ever single high profile case. Times have changed, our judiciary needs to accept that reality.
When you vote on the laws, make you vote them in right.
No, no, they don't need to accept anything. Too much step back, and the judge is spot on. No pictures, the news media has not listened to the rules of the court! So, no camersa until they do! They already have had threats. OJ 's trial was a media circus, and the didn't know how to be dignified. So out they go! This judge is absolutely right about the drama, they cause, keep them away.
Totally right. And if it has been brought to the Supreme Court, it should be revisited.
You also have to factor in the rights of the defendant, which is the issue in most cases. As they don't want a biased jury and already Kohberger is convicted in the court of public opinion. I agree with wanting cameras, I want to see it, but for true justice the defendant need a fair trial. If it turns out he is convicted but appeals for unfair trial, where's the justice in an overturned verdict? Conversely if he is actually innocent, but the jury convicts based on what they've heard in the media or evidence they've seen in pre-trial and convicts him asked on being biased "because he's creepy, or of he guilty the media said so" it's still not justice If an innocent man is wrongfully convicted.
@@lutz_4578 exactly spot on
What is that annoying flashing red lights on the judges desk?
Desk bench, tomato tomato, potato potato.
Clock
No handcuffs? Wow!
What’s he gonna do?
The fast flashing of the “second counter” clock in front of the judge is extremely annoying. It could literally set off an epileptic seizure in someone prone to seizures.
That is one ill fitting suit
Bullet proof vest under
The taxpayers carry much of the costs of these hearings, so they should be allowed to follow along. Also, we have FOUR murder victims here. It will be impossible for all of their family and friends to attend this trial - they most of all deserve to watch this play out.
Good morning from California
California here too. Morning
Bless day from Florida
This is the stupidest court room setup I’ve ever seen ! Don’t understand why they don’t re-do it for a better layout!
Maybe it’s just my computer but I’m having trouble understanding what is being said
You can always turn on closed captions. CC
@@cherylloper7320 I guess. Had a senior moment😂😂Thank you for reminding me!
Cameras could also help to make sure, that Bryan does get a fair trial. But I dont know the American rules at all.. 👍🏼 Hope they find the guilty one
I think it will actually calm the crazy rhetoric on social media. Let’s get the facts instead of everyone’s speculation
Love how the judge's hair looks like an old style British judge's wig.
Could you please add closed captioning for hearing impaired?
Go to the cog at top right. Then select captions.
We're paying..
we have the capabilities to see what we pay for..
I vote we see if we choose to..full transparency
Maybe it's time for courts to get with the times and reconfigure courtrooms to allow for in-house camera operation. The money they'd make from streamers' fees could go toward something useful.
Fix your audio so we can hear!
I have a feeling we as the public are not going to be able to watch this maybe they will do audio like the loridaybell case
This has less reason not to have cameras than lori and the community and famillies deserve the world to have full transparency of court proceedings if they protect that monsters privasy just for his benefit then they spit on the memories of those 4 young lives cruelly taken
What’s going on with the judges clock looks like his calling Bingo
Who the F cares what he thinks?
Are those the 2 prosecutors? If so I’m not sure they have a chance. 🤦♀️
She’s right, if you remove the cameras people are going to speculate and make things up even more so having the truth out there prevents that. I’m not liking the way this is looking …
RIP to the 4 beautiful souls that were murdered in cold blood by this animal.

Nothing
@@bridgwll gag order, secret evidence , secret grand jury, and now camera's.... Nope that's normal .... maybe in Idaho ? .....Fair trials are transparent for the obvious reasons.... This case l stinks bad of corruption...
Cameras should be allowed in the courtroom. We the people deserve to see this scumbag’s trial for such a heinous crime that was committed.
No sound
Prof. Kohburger is in the room
Prof is one of his DID alters
Carpenter should be in there building his guilotine while the courts fuk around and wait
We, the people, need to be assured this case is justly tried. We won't know that. if we aren't allowed to see what's happening.
The Flashing minute sign gives me migraines . I would watch on your reports on this anyway. Court in fast motion is fine with me.
You probably already have a mig in progress
I have faith in Judge Judge!
I wonder how often he's called Judge Judge. lol It's probably Your Honor, instead. 😛
If there are no cameras allowed, there will be even more speculations and rumors circulating. The public needs to see the facts and not hear second and third hand interpretations. No cameras will just equal more negative results - speculation and rumors. Very bad idea - no one will trust the verdict, whatever it is, if they haven’t witnessed the facts themselves. There should be absolutely transparency. The families want cameras in the courtroom because they want the truth and the transparency. The families’ feelings should absolutely be respected. It doesn’t makes any sense how anyone could possibly think more negativity would come out by having cameras when the cameras will show the truth and clear transparency. Keeping cameras out makes it look like things are being hidden and gives so much room and ammunition for rumors and negative speculation towards all involved, especially the prosecution and the State. Shame on the judge for even considering banning cameras. It’s only going to hurt the case in the long-run.
So that's why you allow the court to show it so that the media can make it up and we see everything for ourselves all we want to do is hear it we don't want the camera focused on his face all day long we want to hear all the evidence and the judges thoughts. We don't care about his face.
You’re really finding things I haven’t seen so far. I knew shoes on power lines were some kind of message and not a good one. I think it’s more than a coincidence that there are 4 pairs of shoes and 4 victims. I’m not buying graduates threw them.
Shoes on power lines where I am from mean it’s an area to find/buy drugs.
Look at that monster looking like he’s going to get away with this. Smug isn’t he?
If the public is allowed to sit in the Courtroom then the camera is as well.
This has nothing to do with entertainment! Your televizing these hearings now. The whole world knows what's going on. I personally like to watch the suspect for analytical purposes.
Already, I don't care for this Judge. I can tell he's gonna say no. I call BS. What's WRONG with Idaho?
why is he allowed to just waltz around with no handcuffs or anything on this guy is a nutjob
Probably because he’s not a current physical danger. It’s up to the sheriff’s deputy I would think
@@atheistbewildered2987 no one thought he was a danger prior to being a murderer either
That bald attorney of his looks and acts so trashy; that one time he walked into the courtroom he was unshaven, his shirt was rumpled, unbuttined and his tie askew. He looked like he just got out of the drunk tank. As a judge, I would have reprimanded him for showing such disrespect to me and my courtroom -- Judge Haller would have!
You know, he loves all this publicity.
Ironic, isn’t it? 🙃🤨🙃

No Cameras
So many people screaming for cameras that just don't understand. Here are some reasons why cameras aren't allowed in the courtroom: They pollute your jury pool, motivate media to prioritize ad revenue over information, can invade the privacy of victims and their families, and above all sensationalize the murderer and give them the publicity they often crave. The public has access to all unsealed info on any given case before, during, and after a case. You just need to request the information from wherever the case is being held. Most people that scream about cameras in the courtroom don't want transparency (they already have it, they just don't know this fact or are too lazy to understand it), they want drama. They just want to hold up "right to know" as a shield to cover their morbid desire to be closer to these criminals.
Sitting in his suit . Pretending he is a lawyer. Ugh.

For someone that cannot afford to pay for lawyers, kohlbrtgsure is spending money on fancy clothes
Not everybody has the luxury of being in the court room! I could tell by the tone of his voice in the beginning he was against it. The cameras need to be allowed! Quit thinking of yourself Judge and think of the victims and their families.
You don't have to have a camera listen to a court trial. They could just have audio broadcasting
tell the bailiff to stop nodding yes when the defense is speaking. He's a little punk.
He’s listening carefully and is handsome, don’t you think so?
