  • Hyundai Genesis G80 | 100,000 Miles Later.. This quick look at the 2016 Hyundai Genesis or Genesis G80 as it was known after 2017, will be a unique one as this Genesis has done over 100,000 miles. As a previous owner of the Genesis G80, it was one of my most favorite cars I have ever driven. Now I want to see just how well it has held up and if it is on par with Lexus quality. Well I will tell you this, it beats out the Germans, now you will have to watch and see for yourself how it compares to a Lexus.

This car is every bit as fantastic as you are describing it! For me the car is as close to perfect as I could hope to find. I own a 2009 Genesis with the 4.6 liter V8 and love the car. 2009 was the first year they came out as a Hyundai luxury model and I had seen a few on the road and loved the look. When I took a test drive at the dealer I was sold after five minutes behind the wheel. I've driven it on several road trips----NY to North Carolina was the first----and it's a world class touring sedan. Very timely. I bought a 2016 Genesis with ultimate package with 29k miles for $26k just three weeks ago.
    This car is described in this video. I look for excuses to drive it. It’s more comfortable than the best home leather furniture. It’s not hyperbole to say the car drives itself. The HUD is the best I have seen. Speed, nav, land keep, advanced cruise and situational awareness of other cars are all integrated into the HUD
    Everyone who has been skeptical converts after a single ride. This car will be one of those cars sold based on word of mouth.
    Also the Genesis Dealer network is only now building out. Once established it will make sense to advertise.
    I have owned them all. MB, Lincoln, Caddilac, Lexus, Audi and it’s Genesis for the win.

I've had a few problems with the electronics, the XM Sirius Radio and screen were replaced when a month after I bought it and again a couple of months ago. It was freezing and not allowing me to change channels. Luckily the extended warranty took care of this problem. Other than that, I've replaced the tires with Good Years, Replaced the driver visor, under the warranty. The car is in the shop now getting the rear rotors and brake pads replaced but after 79K, that's just fair wear and tear. They checked the front brakes and they are still fine. It's a wonderful car. I hope I can take mine to 200K! Keep up the great work on your channel.

So know about how rather poor that 1st offering was. 20 years later I took a chance and purchased a 2005 kia spectra. I was pleasantly surprised to find it perfectly reliable to 100.000 miles with no issues at all. We added a 2007 spectra and it was just as good! I'm now driving a fully loaded 2017 Elantra, very nice, very comfortable, just hit 55.000 miles, no problems or issues at all. Still on the original tires and they still have decent tread left! You're absolutely spot on when you said it takes you down a few stress points when driving. The cabin is just so peaceful! A little more engine noise than I would expect, but for a car with 130k? I have no complaints. We have two kids, and one who can't keep his shoes off the back seat, so that's where the wear and tear is. Other than that, and a missing spring that doesnt keep the rear seat trunk access hole closed, you would think the car is 100k miles newer. Wouldnt mind adding a second one for a new daily.

    Recently purchased the 2015 3.8T.... so far so good love it. Upgraded from my 2009 Sonata, which made me a fan of Hyundai. My first-time servicing the Sonata my mechanic literally told me this has the same engine as a Honda Accord, "you can go 250,000 miles on this thing without any issue". It's currently at a hundred and seventy-five thousand miles and running strong after a $700 service.
    My 2015 Genesis was a steal at $20K with under 49,000 miles. Most people think I paid 30k for it. I have a feeling after the 2021 Genesis people are going to start jumping on board. Great review man. You're right. A lot of people hate on this car and Genesis because it's a hyundai and hyundais suck. I really think if you're one of those don't make any conclusions until you've at least sat in one and driven one. I can tell you reliability with a 2011 4.6 has been great with the exception of some electrical issues here and there. Those tau v8s are great motors. My dad got a 2018 G90 5.0 and I expect the same reliablity from that. Funny enough, I drive a 2015 genesis 3.8 I just got with 45,000 miles, my dad drives a 2018 Genesis G90, and my step mom drives the 2011 genesis 4.6 now. Great Job man! These really are underrated in a lot of ways!

    I currently drive a 2010 Kia Forte which happens to be my first car and I’m impressed with how reliable it’s been despite all the negativity Kia/Hyundai gets. Love the way the Genesis looks and it’s definitely something I’d consider as my next car.

  • @floridaregisteredagent9488

    That's my car 2016 exact same interior dashboard and interior color, fully equipped, top of the line, 42K miles, in perisian gray. I love love love my Genesis which was designed to be a Bentley knockoff. Since 2016, I just installed her first new front brakes [6 yrs]. The battery is still good until next year. Thank you for bragging about this gorgeous car. In fact the interior is nicer than the Lexis. It's also a sturdy, safe car.

Just seeing the car in person you cannot imagine how unique and sexy the car looks. Truly, the Koreans know how to make amazing cars that last past 100k+ miles. @MeynMotorGroup  Před 4 lety +4

      Hey thanks for stopping by my friend. So I actually did drive a 2016 F sport GS350 with 20k miles and honestly I like the Genesis way more. The road noise in that is about the same, you have to step up to an LS to get better noise isolation. GS is not a bad car but if you drove it back to back with this, you would see this is leagues above. This is like big body car territory with excellent handling

    What about the carbon buildup a supposedly usual consequence of the GDi engine design ? I heard about it, and I am concerned as I would to acquire one G80 2015 3.8L 50,000 miles. Is it required to install an OCC ? Is it possible to decrease this "risk" by using high grade 100% synthetic oil ? Thank you

    I just purchased a 2015 Genesis from a major dealer where I live, and it is in impeccable condition, and it has 122,000+ miles on it, and the dealer provided me with a 100,000 mile major issue warranty. The only real issue I found on my car, was the drivers seat adjustment plastic wrap was broken, and it hangs loose, but does not interfere with the seat adjustment. Plus, I paid $16k before tax, tags, and title, which came out to about $18k to finance, and with no money down.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  Před 4 lety +2

      I have not! I don’t even think I’ve driven a car that old before haha but I really want to because that was the pinnacle of Mercedes quality and durability. Really hard to find those cars however. I have reviewed a 2002 E55 Amg and that was a very solid car had 200k miles on it

    • @danpan001
      @danpan001 Před 4 lety +1

      from what I read 2002-2006 was the worse quality for MB because they lower the quality so they could compete with Lexus in price(interestingly one thing could support that theory is the Taxi drivers in Germany boycott MB and MB market share went down from 80% to less than 50% so MB got the message start improving its quality again now the share of MB of the taxi market went back up to 75%). The exception is 2005-2006 MB E320 CDI for those who like Diesel.

    Any new issues out there? I have a 2018 5.0 RWD w/20k miles. Fantastic car with plenty of power with no worries of "What will break next" which I often said to myself with my old 2015 E350. I have only seen (1) 5.0 in addition to mine in the Charlotte area. Very rare car, and with the V8 ousted for the 3.5T I believe it will possibly become a collector car.

      Only "issue" I noticed and found others who reported online that the transmission has a wierd delay on changing from changing gears-------going about 40-50mph if I recall correctly. Pedal was about 3/4 of the way down.
      This is a rare occurance for me and ONLY happened like 4 times since driving the car for about 4 years....I noticed that it appears regardless of using any mode (normal, sport, eco).
