Good video this lar
Sound
100% mate 👍
Could you do one on making frames and hanging doors.
Clear, easy to follow guidance. No silly intros, no sponsorship nonsense, no "I'm trying to be funny", no begging and no stupid editing. Just good clear information. I wish more people made videos like this.
I try to go for the no nonsense approach and just get on with showing how to do stuff.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to check out my other videos and subscribe to help my channel grow 👍🏼
This is my go to diy channel now...thank you for your videos...
I trained as a carpenter and no one ever taught skirting in such a clear way. Thanks all the best
That does surprise me. This is very basic stuff and in the college I work at the joinery students are taught this in their second year.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Same, we are taught these same principles in college in Leeds but not in such a clear concise way, guy definitely has a knack with breaking down information and demonstrating it clearly.
Skirrrrt skirrrrt!
one of the best tutorials on cutting angles and joints
Glad you enjoyed my video.
Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Absolutely 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I have a chop saw but soo happy I clicked on this video
Good ol' fashioned carpentry. I love this. Many times it's not about buying more tools unless you are doing a huge project or are a craftsman. I'm using the skills you taught me.
finally, this world has normally understandable for the human being explanation of this rocket science baseboard corners cutting process. Thank you man
Huge respects for a calm, detailed, pragmatic and informative delivery. I wish all content on youtube would be like this! All the best!
Thank you for that great comment. I try to make my videos easy to follow and understand.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to like and subscribe to help me out 👍🏼
Excellent joiner you mate. Scouser like myself. Doesn't get much better. Keep the videos coming. No arsing about, no rubbish music. Straight to the point, and really informative.
I agree there, no arsing about, no rubbish music, and also no "look at me with my Milwaukee or DeWalt mitre saw, ain't I doing well" bragging and showing off. I think alot of people who do these videos spend more time at the computer editing and adding silly effects than actually doing the task they are demonstrating. I could do with him round my place for various jobs, close to Liverpool as well.
Thank you for sharing trade secrets, this must be on of the best angled skirting board vides on CZcams, thank you.
This is the best explanation I've seen. The drawing of angles on the floor for reference is
the best tip I think I have seen.
Clever chap, you. What I really like about your videos is the simplicity - you have a ‘can do’ approach and it inspires. Thank you. Another excellent video.
Thank you for that comment. I work with apprentice joiners so I try to make my videos as if it's aimed at level one so everyone can follow them. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Absolutely brilliant! Super clear and easy to follow. We’re building a built in bookcase with all sorts of trims and this video resolves all my issues. Thank you!
Glad you found my video useful. Let me know how you get on with the bookcase.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
I was quoted £800-1000 for whole house skirting and architraves
I did it myself watching your video so simple to follow saved me a almost a grand. Thank you
What a pleasure to hear a professional woodworker demonstrate his techniques, and to listen to his well sharpened saws sing. He is a rare gem in today’s world. Thank you very much, David from Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York.
Simplifying the complicated is a huge skill which you have plenty off, well done great tutorial👏
Thanks for the compliment.
Glad you enjoyed my video.

OMG! I have literally spent way more time than i care to admit, trying to tackle this particular type of job in my own home over the past couple of days and after seeing ur video i realize what I've been doing wrong this whole time! I just want to commend you on ur brilliantly detailed explanation & easy to follow instructional style! Plus i just completely adore ur accent. ☺ I now believe i am ready to go back and complete my DIY once & for all! Thank you SO much, i rrally can't express how grateful i am that i finally had the pleasure of learning something from you. PLEASE keep doing what ur doing!
So glad my video helped you out. That's exactly why I make them!
I think the scouse accent, you either love it or hate it 😂

Yes I agree, brilliant informative video! Thank you
1000% !! Best DIY instructional videos EVER
Mate, I had to comment on this video. I’ve been in the hospitality industry 19y.... I’ve decided to try a new challenge, I really like carpentry so I’ve joined a level 1&2 City and Guilds course as I have zero experience. I’ve just completed the first of a 10 weeks course but I’ve learned and understood more in this 20min vid than I have the whole week.
Great video!
Thanks 🙏🏾
The best video on CZcams for skirting. Thanks for posting it...
Very kind of you to say so. Glad you found my video useful.
Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Fantastic timing finding this, as I'm near the point of putting skirting boards into a new extension. Not so sure about doing the internal corner, it looks very time consuming/tricky to get right, however, the external corner marking out is brilliant and I'm saving this video. Will have to practice the internal I think! Wish me luck...
I've been a keen diy'er for many years. Videos like this are absolutely priceless for people like me. It means I'll do the job quicker, saving money because I'll have less waste, and the wife will be impressed too!
Thanks so much.
Happy wife happy life. We all need to learn and I'm glad I can help people like yourself through the university of CZcams.

It's not often I comment on these videos..but credit where credit is due chief. Great, clear video without any fuss ..well done👍
Thank you. I always read comments and try to reply, even if it takes a while. It's always good to get feedback on my videos.

Best video I've seen on here for skirting board cuts, well done, nice and clear even for the complex cuts
Thank you, I'm glad you found my video helpful.

This is one of the best tutorials I've ever seen on CZcams.
Thank you for the well explained, detailed explanation done in a way a beginner will understand.
Will be using the methods you've shown for the skirtings and other work in our home.
Glad you found my video so useful 👍🏼
Just used this method on a job today. Couldn't believe how easy it was to do. The finish looks immense.I thought it was good before but this has taken it to another level
Glad my video has helped you out.
Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
You have saved me $500 for my house project.
Thank you!
Wow that's great that you could save $500.
In return if you could like the video and subscribe to my channel that would be great 👍🏼
The best tutorial I've seen so far. Covers all the tips needed, unlike other CZcamsrs. Very informative. Thanks 😊
I'm a rookie to all of this. My partner and I bought our first place together (which is a real project) and I want to teach myself to be able to do as much as possible and your channel has certainly helped! Thanks man! Subbed and Liked :)
Thanks for subbing, good luck with your projects and let me know how you get on 👍🏼
Amazing! I just spent a day cutting up skirting board to fit in a downstairs toilet and shower area. The corners are a mess. I really wish I'd watched this first! I'm subscribing before I do any more damage to my home.
I'm sure with some practice your skirting will be as good as mine.
Thanks for subscribing 👍🏼
Very calm, paced and simple demonstration that needs no background music, back to front baseball caps . Well done you !
Perfect example of fitting skirting boards👌. More videos please😉
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
This is one of the best instructional videos I've seen. You've done an excellent job in explaining it simply and clearly, you would make a very good teacher.
Very nice of you to say so. I do a bit of teaching but mainly on woodworking machinery.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Thank you so much for posting this; I'm doing this in my own home and was finding the prospect of cutting a neat obtuse angle a little daunting.
Without a doubt, the best and clearest video on CZcams. I can’t thank you enough !
You are very welcome.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to check out my other videos and subscribe to help my channel grow 👍🏼
A really decent tutorial on how to do skirting without power tools. It’s been really handy
Glad you enjoyed my video.
Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Not sure why I watched this as this is something I already know but super clear advice for someone wanting to learn . Nice video
Best skirting board video ive seen by a mile. Every other video ive seen talks about profile/mitre cuts as a matter of the viewers preference. You took the time to explain when, why and how you should do both. Also i appreciate your honesty "if you mitre and caulk it will come apart". Somehow I knew that. Seen so many gaps in the skirting of my old house, but no one ever says this to you.
Glad you enjoyed my video.
Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
That’s the best video on skirting board fitting I’ve seen. Thank you. I really like the way you just use a set of hand tools that are accessible to everyone.
Hi buddy probably the best video ive seen in a long time, i run into this every time i do flooring in my home regarding the trim or new skirting. Bedroom to go still so im going to use this...may pick up a few more hand tools.
Massive thanks Andrew 😊😊😊
Ps brilliantly presented to mate
Glad you enjoyed my video.
Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
wow that internal obtuse angle was beautiful...nice one lad.
I’m a diyer who has never had the benefit of being taught any woodworking skills. Most videos on this topic are way above my head. Your video has given me the confidence to replace the skirting boards in my rather large lounge. Thank you so much 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you found my video useful. Let me know how you get on with your living room.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe 👍🏼
Watched a few videos to learn how to PROPERLY install baseboard. Wish I had just seen this one first. Calm and collected dictation. Simple directions. Covered all the bases. Produced the best results of all the other "how to vids" I saw. Norm Abram would approve! I subscribed. Thanks!
An extremely useful how to and well done thank you for posting the video.
Glad you enjoyed my video.
Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Wish i was a young man again ,we need people like you Rob to teach the youngsters how to do thing's right !!
Thanks for the comment. That's why I work in a carpentry and joinery college to help students learn. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
@@spendtimesavemoneydiy the students will find you easy to learn from, I think I see a City & Guilds fellow in that video, same thing with stairs , no fancy talk just get to the point, we could do with a few Carpenters like you here in Canada, Near Hamilton,
Very clear instructions- one of the best videos I’ve seen so far. Great job!!!
I greatly appreciate you taking the time to explain everything so clearly.
Another great video. I’ve learnt a lot from your skirting and coving videos. One extra tip I picked up from Robin Clevett was to use an extra piece of skirting as a scribe template to get the exact angle for the straight cuts on internal scribes. Makes for perfect closure even when the walls aren’t plumb!
Thanks for the comment. I've used that technique too but it's not always possible. There are so many ways to do the same job in joinery. This is a fairly simple way I teach students and I'd hope most beginners could follow. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
I have gone through a lot of videos to find a natural like yourself, I have been making mistake after mistake until I have watched your videos, now everything is spot on, can't thank you enough for the easy to understand videos. 👍🏻
So glad you enjoyed my videos and that they have helped you.
Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Great idea using a jig to show every type of angle you might have to deal with. A lot of videos don’t acknowledge that the external mitre joints/walls can be out of square but your video is spot on! Thanks a lot and please keep them coming, great videos, well done!
Glad you enjoyed my video. I make these jigs for joinery students to practice on.
Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Thanks Rob! I'm waiting on a new internal door delivery then got some back moulds to fit & a few more bits of skirting so I'll be using this for tips.
Great, let me know how you get on 👍🏼
Excellent video
Glad you enjoyed my video.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to like and subscribe to help me out 👍🏼
That internal 22.5 degree was magical. I've always struggled with those
Thanks the obtuse cuts are quite tricky but worth doing right.
Brilliant! This is the best explanation of the job I have seen. Actually to have someone acknowledge the job can be done with hand tools is so refreshing. Thanks so much. I'm off to fit the skirting in my daughter's house next week and she's even fussier than the missus.
Thanks for your comment.
I realise people watching want to learn and have a go themselves to possibly save money.
So they probably don't have the money to buy expensive power tools. If I can show them how to do it with only inexpensive hand tools I hope I have helped them to do a decent job and save some money too.
Good luck in your daughters house and let me know how you get on.
Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Out of all the videos this is the one that’s helping me the most. I just wish you were stood beside me helping 😂
That last joint. "I tell you what mate, there's £100 I'll see you at 4"
I'm sure you will make a cracking job of it yourself!
Thanks for watching and don't forget to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Cheers all the way from Texas! This is by far the most educational video yet!!
Wow, great to know my videos are being watched all the way over there in Texas.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow. 👍🏼
Best video I have seen so far, thanks for taking the time to make it.
Revisiting 4 months on as I needed a refresher in a new room. Best video by far. Thank you again for this.
You're very welcome, glad my tutorial is helping you 👍🏼
This is the best demonstration of cutting skirting board angles I've see - great job! Thank you!
Brilliant. First time I have fitted skirting boards. Really clear explanation and so useful for those of us who don't possess a mitre saw. I'm glad to say the job has gone very well thanks to you.
Probably the best and easiest to understand video on skirting. Awesome job.
Glad you enjoyed my video.
Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Fantastic tutorial! Copied your methods on our new replacement 9" high skirtings, so lots of corners to deal with. Worked a treat. Really saved us lots of time. Thank you for sharing
Glad you methods worked out for you. It's nice to know my video helped.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to check out my other videos and subscribe to help my channel grow 👍🏼
That is the best video of fitting skirting that I've seen. Thank you mate!!!
feel like this is an update to some of your earlier vids. really good to get another take on it. Thank you!
I received a lot of comments on my other videos asking how to do the joints if they couldn't afford a mitre saw so I made this video showing how it's done by hand.
Thanks for watching 👍🏼
This is one of the best videos I saw for cutting trim. Great explanations and visuals reference
Great video. I've been fitting skirting for years and still learnt some great tips.
Many thanks
Thank you very much for this video! So glad I found it as I will attempt to install skirting in the master bed and bathroom today. Whoever has the pleasure of having you do work on their house is very lucky :)
Glad my video has inspired you to tackle your skirtings yourself. Let me know how you get on. Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Best informative video on CZcams 👍 Brilliant 👏👏👏👏👏👏
The most informative video of 2020 for me. Thank you. Excellent explanation and easy to follow instructions.
There are very few honest, knowledgable people like yourself teaching us how to do a job properly. I just saw my friends house done recently and you would not believe the shoddy skirting work that was done to a disgusting below average finish. How the hell they call themselves builders. No where near perfect to your demonstration today. Amazing finish and great to see good, genuine people giving up their time to teach us the correct way!
Thank you this is one of my best tutorial video I’ve seen in a while, it covers every internal and external joint, keep up the good work. 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed my video.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe 👍🏼
It's people like you that make CZcams worth its weight in gold. This well made tutorial has given me valuable knowledge that I was clueless about. I thank you for your time and effort.
I make videos to help people learn what I have been lucky enough to learn from other tradesmen.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe 👍🏼
THE best explanation I’ve seen! Thank you!!!
Wish I’d seen this three days ago! Lol. Never mind... starting again with the right tools and knowledge this time!
Nice and clear, now I know what tools and understand the principles my confidence in tackling something like this has grown, great vid! Many thanks
Excellent video Rob. I've watched a load of videos in recent weeks to help me understand what to do. Yours is the best of them all in my opinion.
Thank you, glad you found it helpful.
Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
From the Philippines. I love working without power tools with my bare hands and teeth 😜. You made me feel that I can do this moulding around my bathroom myself. Thank you so much for the video. May the force be with you always.
Good luck with your bathroom. Let me know how you get on.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to like and subscribe to help me out 👍🏼
Thanks for following up on our comments Rob - really useful and clear video! Though I have to admit that I’ve now got an Evolution mitre saw arriving later this week! 🤪
If people take the time to comment I try my best to reply to them all. I'm expecting great results from you now you have a mitre saw! Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Best video I've seen about it on CZcams - thanks!
This is a great video! Just a tip for anyone with laid flooring so you can't draw on the floor - What I did was masking taped a few sheets of paper down and drew on those and it came out brilliantly. This is the best video out there for fitting skirting. Every other video I watched assumes 90 degree corners!
That's a great tip! Thanks
Glad you enjoyed my video!
Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Great teacher thanks for doing this with the mock up walls . The great side of the internet
Glad you found my video useful. Doing the mock up walls made it easier to explain all the different joints in one video.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to check out my other videos and subscribe to help my channel grow 👍🏼
Big thanks for this. Clear and done with basic tools; great for those of us just doing a single room. Cheers.
This is some kind of old-school alchemy. Wonderful techniques shown here, thanks!
Very impressed with this video! Clear, concise and a pleasure to watch. 👍😊
Thank you, I'm glad you were impressed with my video.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to like and subscribe to help me out 👍🏼
Really well done. Even applicable to those of us lucky enough to have the power tools. Hand cutting a straight line is a whole new skill set. Impressive.
The theory can be applied to a mitre saw as well as a hand saw but not everyone can afford power tools so I kept it as simple as possible.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Absolutely brilliant instructional video Rob. Many thanks for sharing the skills and tips. Keep them going!
Glad you enjoyed my video.
Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Very Clear and instructive video! Thanks mate! Keep them coming!
Absolutely superb video mate. So easy to follow and definitely the most informative video on CZcams. Awesome work.
Definitely the best explanation Iv seen on CZcams 👊🏻 great video
One of the best and brilliantly explained video I have seen so far. Thanks for the video you are such a champion

Glad you enjoyed my video. I tried to make it as simple as possible.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
I've watched so many videos to cut my baseboards on my own. But this is the best one with a very detailed, clear explanation. I also noticed that these things can be done without power tool that almost all others have. Thank you so much. Best wishes! 👌
Brilliant tutorial, I’ve certainly learnt something today. Thank you.
The best explanation I’ve found so far, thank you!
Glad you found my video useful.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe 👍🏼
I honestly can't thank you enough for this video, i'm managed to skirt the bay window area which i was dreading. Followed on by around the chimney stack then everything else was dead easy. Its turned out PERFECT. no gaps or miscuts or looking corners. It looks so profession but i'm certainly am not doing this again! my first time was pure fluke.
Thank you very much. I've always had a nightmare with skirting boards.
You've given me the confidence to tackle it again. 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Just made my Sunday a lot easier thank you. Great video
Thank you for sharing your no power tools skills. I have a bathroom baseboard to figure out, and your video has given me the confidence to give it a go!
I bet you do a really great job of it.
Sometimes all we lack is confidence. Let me know how you get on 👍🏼
This is exactly what I needed. Informative and perfectly explained. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed my video and I hope it helps you with your skirting boards. Let me know how you get on.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Amazing tutorial. I have seen bit and pieces explained.. but this one is really clear, to the point.. and done with basic tools, allows to actually understand how to do it. Thank you for making the video! well filmed too.
Thanks for that great comment. I tried to cover all the bases in this video.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to like and subscribe to help me out 👍🏼
Fantastic tutorial. I had already watched a few on scribing corners and was really confused till I watched yours. Thank you for posting this great video. My new skirting boards look amazing
