I'm 100% against people criticizing, especially on social networks, unless it's done respectfully. Too often it's done disrespectfully - and don't bother trying to report it - nothing will be done - which needs to be punishable by law including jail time.
I love your insight on this! Free speech should be protected and we should be able to speak what we wish. Most of us are on pins and needles with these social media platforms because speaking your mind gets you cancelled and wiped out as if you never existed. Too many of us are trying to make a living online and rely on social media to help us find our potential customers so we need to tread lightly.
I'm with you, Elizabeth. That's why we need to migrate now to decentralized platforms.

At my age , I just got 2 copyright strikes and I have been on the tube since 2013. Take 2017 because it was violent? War is real and happening and I asked for prayer after a vax left a friend a mess. Certainly what I think, feel and believe means nothing and gotta deal with bots 😳 Thank's for all you do Ian ❤
The key problem with free speech is there is no current socially understood difference between public speech and private speech. Those issues need to be worked out now.

@@yoursocialmedialawyer Right now it's muddled. Private speech is when I'm addressing my network, individuals, and even mailing lists. It's my interaction with a targeted demographic that's already willing and confirmed they want to hear from me. Public speech is difficult to tell where it exists due to social media conflating public and private. The bullhorn on the sidewalk is classic public speech. Publication I feel is actually private. You have to buy it, join the platform, or be a member of it to hear it. A full public access to anyone is Public speech. Or speach in designated public access areas. This reminds me a little of public access television and designated free speech zones.
I guess public is open access and the only way to avoid it is to move away from it. I walk away from the person with the bullhorn. Public speech is not a platform. Historically it's been the space; often borrowing the platform of private speech but disseminated widely, used to address grievances of individuals with the current government.
But where is the line drawn now?

One big problem I see with decentralized blockchain is that it's SO anonymous that it opens the doors wide open for large-scale mind manipulation. As seen in the documentaries, Cambridge Analytica & The Dissident, it's a proven fact that one entity (nation state / organization) has the ability to alter our collective minds (posts from fake profiles, targeted persuasion w/ ulterior motives, etc). Manipulation would be even easier using decentralized blockchain communication since there is no way to know who people are that are producing content.
I believe a "peer-to-peer" or "self-censorship" model is best..I'm still working on what exactly that looks like though and will publish it soon - we'll have to collab!
I agree with what you said, "you" (we collectively) are the answer to better censorship.

This is a intriguing topic. Because i see it as 50/50. Of both a win lost. Thinking about it, it would be easier to categorize laws or what content needs to be protected as a priority or what classifies for that protection. Also the site it's self improving in some aspects. I have seen restrictions done in a positive manner. For the Trump one, bullying being removed based off of a feature, some people noticing some post as red flags in a situation or before a event happens. As well the standard regulation of the agreement of the website has been violated in various levels. Those are examples off the top of my head as positives. For a flipside towards negatives. A big issues of sites, sometimes they do not place people in equal accountability. There are platforms of a star status, gender, or various factors can add too a website not not caring about particular accounts or turning a blind eye. I have seen, during the BLM movement on protest. Hashtags and videos being deleted and suppressed in a large scale. I have also witnessed people who expect or anticipate on fair use content being taken advantage of. Particularly due to the websites own faults in how they can easily not have it in their favor. So i don't see a quick perfect solution. Content i watch varries and i have seen bots for the new kids connect rules mess up adult creators based from what they look for too weed out and demonotize based off of the bots understanding pieces of "what makes kids content". I am bringing up the kids content, because it is a easy example to see where flaws hit as a recent example

I think using "free speech" in this context is a mischaracterization since the 1st Amendment doesn't cover what FB, Twitter, et .al. are doing. Section 230, yes. And removing that protection would be detrimental. Concerning decentralized communication. Interesting concept. Maybe Need to watch that other video, but I'm curious how social media would work like that if it was effectively a completely encrypted social network. I like the protection from the "Eyes" it provides however.
