    Hey Mischaela! I appreciate your and your client’s generosity to put yourself out there authentically with this type of content. I have taken down lots of great questions from the session so thank you for that. I find your technique very masterful and ICF friendly. I saw so many great markers being met. I’m grateful for coaches like you who share their craft, staying true to the high standard set by ICF while also showing up raw and authentic.

    Thanks for sharing Mischaela. It's very helpful for coaches in training as well as for Clients to see something like that. There you can also see, that coaching isn't you giving answers. It is you asking questions and partnering with the client in a thought provoking and creative process that maximizes their potential.

    Great video!! Love the question: What is your relationship with fear and vulnerability? and how that led to acceptance of those emotions. I truly believe that the session ended pretty early in the video, but then the exploration also led to an amazing implicit conversation throughout the visualization about something that I would call "the only certainty in the uncertainty of life is change" I would love to participate in some coaching videos if they ever are offer to the public. Great job !!!

  • @CoachDavidAdes
    @CoachDavidAdes Před 3 lety +1

    the word that comes to my mind, throughout this session, is lovely. a lovely client that you have a lovely connection with. the way you interact with her is also "lovely" by which i mean there is a lot of care, i feel. the atmosphere - where she records the session - is also full of light, it's soft..
    i love the "i just should on myself" phrase. that one's going in my back pocket.
    there's a meta conversation about coaching here. she's talking about trust vs. control. that's exactly what you're doing. humans are so complex and dynamic, every session is about keeping a vision (of yourself as a coach, maybe), and exercising trust. thank you so much for sharing! i might schedule a free 45 minute session with you just to pick your brain! how absolutely generous - a free 45 minutes. inspirational, coach!

    Thank you. This is a successful demonstration of a mix of fulfillment, process and balance coaching. Even your “hmm” reminds me of a CTI instructor I had haha. Really nice flow and good timing - that’s a challenging aspect for me still. And I have to say your client is “a great client” - reflective, articulate and self aware. I wonder if you had “trained” her to get used to the coaching way of conversation during the course of your working with her - coming out of our training course, I realized that many of the questions that worked great in class couldn’t click in the real world with some people. Thanks again!

  • @wingingitmillennialpodcast5205

    I'm still listening but the question that jumps out to me Is how do you decide if you and your client are a good fit? For example, the client has concerns about fear and vulnerability. It seems like something that would be explored in therapy. The goal seems vague. The lines seem to be blurred in therapy and coaching, how do you determine how to coach your client ?
    I like how you helped her reframe her goal. It's more specific and attainable. Maybe I answered my own question lol

    I am coming here from the perspective of a clinical mental health counseling student. Does life coaching not use empathic understanding in their response to clients? How would someone get started working as a life coach while getting their LPC license? Isn't the life coach field massively overcrowded? Or is there more demand than supply?

      What stood out to me about your guest is how timid she is. Very unsure about herself as if she lacks the internal feeling of safety and security. Probably needs help remembering that even through the thick and thin of these crazy times... God loves her and all will work out fine ❤️❤️❤️. Great coaching session, a visual of a river is a good tool to locate where she is in her thinking. I’m not yet familiar with ICF guidelines, but what I thought might be missing are concrete steps for her to take related to trusting and/or feeling that she has more control during this time of change and contemplation about the type of leadership she wants to be in service of at this particular political moment? Or perhaps an action plan is not always necessary for each session depending on the flow of conversation or her stated goals?

    • @MischaelaRichter
      @MischaelaRichter  Před 3 lety +12

      There are a lot of similarities between therapy and life coaching. The main difference I can share is that therapy tends to look at your past and what happened back there that got you here. Coaching instead focuses on the present and your preferred future and helps you clarify the steps forward. Hope that helps!
