There's a ton of him dynoing twin turbo motors, and yet they always fall way short of what he claims in the title. Tom always bragged a lot and talked a big game, but like they say, empty cans rattle the most. Today SME made 3080 hp on a 427 on 38 lbs. of boost. Tom,
    You are a true inspiration to me! My dad was a motorhead and owned a Mopar dealership back in the late 60s early 70s. Passed his love of muscle cars along to me. I remember buying small 12V electric fans, fabricating a new intake, and installing my new "superchargers" on my 2-stroke dirtbike at age 10. I would mess with the jets, fuel mixture, ALL DAY LONG! I swear it made more horsepower than stock :) I can smell the Turbo Blue now. I love your enthusiasm and extreme level of knowledge. Of all the so-called "big name" builders, there are several points in your video I've never heard ANYONE else mention. Best of all, everything you say is backed up by rigorous testing, and REAL WORLD horsepower numbers, NOT marketing HYPE! Thanks for keeping it real Tom and being a great example of a true American!

    Jet boats are hell on motors. I grew up with them and it killed my dad to see me swap to outboard boats. Mainly cause i wanted to run 100 for miles instead of feet. You have worked some magic to run a boosted motor that hard. Lots of guys in that class run turbine motors to handle those long runs. Yall have got this stuff dialed in for sure.

    • @daveycrocket6277
      @daveycrocket6277 Před 3 lety

      @jonny j he was saying boosted inboards are not reliable, off shore racing proves they are🤷. I like outboards too now. My dad had a 225 Johnson on a little 18ft laser bass boat with tunnel hull under it. The only thing in the water was the foot and sometimes that back of boat a little. It would run well over a 100 never had it clocked in but he raced Allison craft with a 300 v8 Mercury outboard and beat him bad. He would start out from mill Creek on lake Marion and run to I95 bridge and back total of twelve miles. He would start out with a full 46 gallon tank and be on fumes when he got back. He literally never lost a race with that boat. Although he never raced in any professional races🤔 just long distance straight top speed runs. You could see him all the way to the bridge with rooster tail you could only stop hearing him about a mile from the i95 bridge which is right at six miles from mill creek

Take into consideration the slamming the boat gets every time it hits a wave, that transfers into the engine components also, or an over rev condition when the prop comes out of the water. Not like a smooth black top surface. This engine is a masterpiece. Keep us updated as to how it faired out in compitition.

I learned so much from him & he was spraying the under side of the pistons through rifle drilled connecting rods on a custom Aluminum BBC 540 twin turbo designed for aircraft.... I notice both of you have a "common sense" , no substitution for the proper material.. He smiled as so many in the industry "followed the other guy", and his saying was (NO FAIR THINKING). Doing things because "others do it" will get you where they are. The way you (NRE) approach the build should get you records, & wins if the rest of the build is up to par...

    • @southjerseysound7340
      @southjerseysound7340 Před 5 lety +4

      @@danielsullivan9865 I mentioned Kenny to some young guys and they were like Kenny who. I normally don't stretch out a lead but I had to put a couple of bus lengths on them for laughing at my " stage 2 Buick". They assumed it was like how guys say they have a stage 2-3 setup these days and I heard them laughing saying how they'll smoke grandpas stage 2 setup from the 90's. I'm only 38 and they were punks with a pos LS turbo thinking they where fast so I didn't feel bad for taking their $1500 worth of lunch money for the year that the 4 of them put up lol. The best part was when they googled Kenny Duttweiler and stage 2 Buick they actually had the balls to try and get their money back because I had a true fully built race motor. If they weren't punks I might've given most of it back, but they needed some schooling ;-) Plus I showed and told them exactly what it was although they didn't notice the AWD ;-) But it's a Sonoma GT on a back halved Olds Bravada frame running a Frankenstein trans out of a Trailblazer SS behind the Stage 2 Buick that Kevin Banks originally built for a Busch series car and Kenny rebuilt and converted to EFI and turbo for me. It's crazy what a new ECU, injectors and tune has done for it though. I haven't changed anything else and the modern Haltec Elite 2500 and E85 has dropped over 2 seconds from my old best time.

      Yeah , don’t think this would be a good idea for the street anyway. This one is purely custom and small displacement. His 427 tt hot rod series is seriously bad ass and nearly perfect.

    Hell yeah, i'm not a v8 fan, but this is how you build engines!!! I really liked the idea with the groove for the piano wire, don't know why not more companies would do that, the engine from Cleetus had problems with the gasket rings pushing out, so i thought why not make a groove in it?!? It sounds sexy as well! Looked alot like Leroys setup tho lol.
    Keep it up!!👍👌

    The dyno is such a great simulation of that engine being in a jet boat, thats basically how the jet pump in the boat acts/works just like an engine dyno. Requires x amount of horsepower to turn the jet pump at x RPM. Awesome build guys!!
