Just wow, I saw and heard him live back in time, when we was that young and already so much on top of things...the clip could have shown more of the Cellist, he's marvellous as well! The whole thing just blows your mind...

Yes, I remember, I watched this "awful sound quality" version some years ago but i really liked it "as is".
Harsh, almost punk, minimalistic, Lo-Fi.
My teenage nephews liked it a lot :-)

Actually I thought it was meant to express that extra verve that is in the spirit of this aria. After all, Tamerlano is a psychotic, choleric ass. Think Joffrey Baratheon. I also realize that it is not quite his aria, but I love him singing villain roles nonetheless. And oh boy, the coloratura is unbeatable.
