One of my all time favourite Steve Hackett songs of all time and i love the dark egyptian feel the guitar playing brings to the piece with the hard hitting drums going on. What a monster track.
How's this for spooky...I was literally on the phone to Mr Hackett this morning, when the postman delivered a book I just bought. The book? Ancient Evenings by Norman Mailer...
I visited The Vally of the Kings; across the river from Luxor Egypt in 1983 when I was only thirteen. That was 37 years ago! I'd just done a research report on Ancient Egypt in Grade 7 in Vancouver where I lived (now I live in one of its suburbs)
Not only a great song but a great mix as well. This piece creates that haunted atmospheric feeling of entering an ancient tomb, of taking in the sights and scents that present themselves to you. I like the gated reverb on the drums too which make it feel like you're walking downward, step by step into this ancient chamber. Great stuff!!
I had that kind of dream twice: one from Giza and the other from Chichén Itzá, near where I Live i'm southeast México. Therewas not a kind of voice but a sensei of mind communication like showing me the way piramids amd naciente temples were built.. Anyone else?
This one is lovely. Have you discussed "Deja Vu" yet? Those lyrics from PG, the vocals from Paul Carrack, the strings...goosebumps galore, and I'm a progger, not one for pop stuff usually. Some incredible instrumental stuff in the latter half of the tune too.
A great piece of music. I can't agree more about Egypt. I've been on a couple of Nile cruises, and other visits there. An incredible country, and an incredible experience. Also been to Petra. I know Steve's been there too.
Beautiful track. One of your best Steve. It does not seem to have had the exposure it deserves. Should be a routine live Hackett standard. Classic Hackett.

This track transports me for sure. Wonderful moving music. Thankyou Steve for being the amazing guy that you are... 🙂💞
Incredibly atmospheric and haunting melodies.
Another amazing and talented song!
One of Steve Hackett's gifts is evoking other places and times so effectively. Valley of Kings is one great example.
My all time Steve solo fave and rates amongst the very best of what epitomises Prog rock at its finest
My Introducing to your'e music just WOW! I❤it!

Great song! Yes, you’re right, people can travel with music!
So glad I got to see him in LA in 2018!
Fantastically evocative track, one of Steve's finest. It has power and mystery, just like the Pharaohs! Brilliant performed live!
Fabulous track Steve! one of your best I have always thought. Best played as loud as possible and through big speakers!

Wow, Steve you must be a very vivid dreamer from what you described. Egypt is someplace I'd love to visit. Thanks for talking about this track!

I had a fantastic trip to Egypt with my wife a few years ago and - guess what - I shot a film and I chose exactly this as soundtrack!
I will love it for sure like Bay of Kings, Midsummer Night's Dream, Sketches of Satie with John, Metamorpheus !

Great atmosphere for the subject matter at hand. It really puts you into that head space and time. Well done!
It is indeed an extraordinary track, Steve!
Very strong track.
Amazing 😍
I love this series of videos. Any chance to talk about Strutton ground? I think is an extraordinary little piece!
Oh let the sun beat down upon my face.....
Ive always wanted to see Stonehenge like to here a tune about that i think this old British band did that already
David Vaness : You’d enjoy visiting Newgrange, Dowth and Knowth. Magnificent ancient burial tombs, older than the Egyptian pyramids.
