Blue bubbles for iPhone users, green bubbles for those shut out of Apple's walled garden. iMessage has been a way of locking users into the Apple ecosystem for more than a decade. But the exclusionary nature of the battle has since come under fire, and Apple is now bending to the green bubble evangelists, in just one of a growing number of concessions it's making to appease regulators.

I live in Europe and I never heard of someone beying rejected on date because he or she owns Android phone.
Also in Asia, where many local brands dominate like Xiaomi, Oppo and Huawei.

I use android and I love my pixel - I am not clamoring to be one in the sea of sameness and I am perfectly happy being the green bubble - in fact id rather be the green bubble and go against the grain than be one of the many same.

Google sucks. Would be no android had they not cheated and stole from Apple to begin with. But android is way to many companies with way to many phones. Makes android bloated and crappy. Apple end to end hardware and OS is a better experience

Except by “going against the grain” by your choice of device and platform, the intentional lack of security/privacy features make every single aspect of your device usage and storage (ie: YOUR data) end up being vacuumed up and disseminated in real-time… 😂
I still have my good old Samsung Galaxy S10+, the last one of its kind to have a headphone jack. Still will not change it in the next few years.

"Green vs. Blue that might be next..." would be inaccurate to say since RCS is a part of the change, but the green bubbles to differentiate is there to stay. Apple will follow the law, but there won't be a law over the choice of color, or if there is, that's a ridiculous amount of oversight.
Totally agree! Apple created the blue bubble color for chats between iPhone to iPhone. Any other non Apple device should get a different color and not the full functionalities.However, I agree that Apple should have allowed Android users to receive higher resolution of pics /videos and some features. They can support RCS but they don't have to support all of iMessages features.
Apple has always been a proprietary company. If you want all that food stuff then get iPhone/iPad/Mac device. And this coming from an Android user

What's crazy is I've never owned an apple product. Yet i own a lot of apple stock. The jokes on you guys, i get some really nice dividends coming straight to my Google pixel 😂😂😂😂. And as a grown man i don't want anyone have that much easy access to me. Most people i know that own an iPhone can't operate simple technology outside of that device which is weird asf.

Maybe you dont understand the concept of yield on cost and dividend growth investing.
Unfortunately Apple stock is very overvalued and will crash badly or deliver abysmal returns by going sideway until earnings will grow to its valuation.
It's a sad indictment on iPhone users to think that their life value is based on a bubble colour. I fear for the future if this is what gives them a sense of worth.
Someday Apple may release a phone that’s as good as the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Of course most Apple users are too poor to buy the flagship Samsung.

You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. The galaxy S 23 ultra retails for 1199. The iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at 11:99 as well so how could an apple not afford a galaxy? They are the same price.
@@igniteexport1463 , the Samsung has a far superior camera, especially the zoom features, with a dedicated zoom lens, rather than the fake zoom in the Apple, plus the Galaxy doesn’t have a big chunk of the screen missing, oh, the hubris and arrogance of Apple.

Apple vs Android? Who the heck cares they both have their weak and strong points. I couldn't figure out all the features of either phone if I worked with them for 100 years. Can't we all just get along and realize not everyone is the same? Personally I started with an Android and stuck with them because I didn't want to learn everything all again. If I staryed with an iPhone I would have stayed with them. P.S. rest of my family has iPhones.

Weird right? Sms is not anymore used for normal communications in my country either. We use it for otp, official communications from banks etc. We use apps for friends/family communications.

Not everywhere are available mobile data. Not everyone needs and wants to pay for overpriced data etc.
And SMS is still good for short messages like sending address or bank account etc.

Doesn't matter for the rest of the world. We use fb messenger/viber or other apps most commonly used in that country. We don't buy new phones just to communicate; we use what we already have & use apps commonly used by friends/family.
Can’t believe the Europeans have to be the one to chip away at the monopoly stronghold of apple. If we did it to Microsoft why not apple? I want fair competition and therefore more choices!!!
Hey, if the EU can force compliance to ethical practices universally, I’m all for it. It took EU mandates to get Apple to conform to USB C.
Ironically the EU is fine with this because Apple doesn’t have a majority of market share in Europe.

Hate to tell you this, but all the independent tests show that on average and iPhone will outlast a comparable android battery. And that has gotten better and better over the years.
I travel for business, and I’ve been through some of the busiest airports in the US and I can tell you the hat I see far more iPhones then I do androids. In fact I love to play this game. How many androids can I spot. It’s typical eight out of 10 phones that I see in airports or iPhones and what is even more interesting is even when you see I cannot tell you maybe a handful of times have I seen an android tablet I have seen android phones, but I cannot remember the last time I saw android tablet. I always see people with iPads.
The paid version of beeper did not have the messages pass thru beeper before being delivered. There were other versions that did pass thru beeper first, but not the paid one. Also, the rcs standard apple is adopting does not have encryption.

Lol. If you don't want to talk to me because I use an Android phone...goodbye. I've used Samsung Note/Galaxy Ultras for years. My work phone is/has been an iPhone. I am unimpressed. I like the iPhone. But if I have to use one phone? Galaxy. I also use two laptops (HP Spectre, MacBook Air) and an iPad Pro. Apple makes good products, but the iPhone is not any better than Android.

These information are only applicable to the US.. Everyone outside uses FB Messenger or IG's DM... Even iPhone users outside that country uses FB Messenger to contact people...
Samsung and Android have been around a lot longer than Apple. I used to own an iPhone once I saw what Samsung could do, I never went back to Apple.

Apple makes its own chipset though and OS Samsung only makes a couple of parts for the iPhone however there’s been talk for a couple years now that that will be changing because Apple was unhappy with Samsung’s manufacturing process

If it wasn’t for kids & teenagers, apple wouldn’t be as popular as they are. If android created a better messaging platform & video calling platform, the same people that keep them popular, will switch over. Apple need the younger generation, cause with certain things, the younger generation can make or break a certain item popular or not make it popular.

One thing to be made clear is that the reason that android doesn't have the same chat features when communicating with an iPhone is because Apple uses SMS messaging.
When communicating with an iPhone it goes through the internet on iMessage servers when texting another iPhone.
When and iPhone user texts an android user it uses SMS messaging which does not have those extra chat features because it's almost 3 decade old tech. All android phones have been using RCS messaging since 2020 and has all the features of iPhone when communicating to another android.
Apple does this on purpose to keep there own users thinking that their platform is more advanced.

The reason Apple does so well is the yanks and their love for it and unwillingness to try anything else. Google has tried for years to get apple to integrate with Google messages. Yes iPhone is pretty decent but it's not in the same league as Samsung OnePlus or oppo etc

The RCS standard Apple committed to implementing is unencrypted. Google’s implementation adds encryption, but Apple is sticking with the telcos’ implementation (which is required by law to be unencrypted).
I have an Android phone.... I can see. " delivered, read, and typing... " I don't get the hype about Imessage. This will never be the reason I switch from Android to Apple!.

But on a more serious thing, yes, Apple is adopting RCS but *WITHOUT* encryption, so yes, its better than SMS and yet its not because Apple will only have secure communications on iMessage.

Green bubbles and having access to iMessage screams "I don't have extra money but want to appear so". Iphone users have extra money, this is a well known fact.

You know it’s interesting how the European Union does with tech but yet they have never bothered Walmart. Walmart to this date does not accept any third-party payment. It is either a credit card cash or Walmart pay.
But yet any other retailer takes at minimum usually Apple Pay, and pay some have added Samsung pay.
The other interesting thing is people forget to mention that with iMessage it works across any Apple product. It is not just iPhones, and Apple has an ecosystem that cannot be android. Will never be able to have that ecosystem because there’s too many manufacturers, running too many variations, and too many different versions of the OS .

EU forced card issuers to lower their fees. The same with very expensive cross border phone calls. Its not only tech. Even hamburgers in McDonald in India have 10 times more salt and fat than in EU, because EU dont allow shady practice of McDonald to make burgers as addictive as possible.

It's an eco-system. Not a walled garden. For walled garden look back to AOL's internet experience, or a Palm Pilot. The brilliance of Apple's system is the interdevice integration. You'll likely never see such otherwhere.

All their products are:
- way overpriced, meanwhile Apple manufactures their products in China at the cheapest rate possible hahaha...
- locked down behind some paywall
- use proprietary hardware and software (are not open source & not compatible with other brands)
- don't allow users to customize things themself
- are designed so that you can´t replace/repair things yourself (despite Apples claims that they care about the environment...)
- are designed to be obsolete withing a year or two so that you go back and spend another few thousand dollars at Apple Store

If you won't date me because of my phone, good. I don't want to know you because of how stupid you are as a person. I can afford the biggest and "best" iphone, but I think their ui sucks. I like being able to have variety when I buy a phone that I can't get with apple. I also use signal because I like privacy when I communicate. So I really don't care what color your message is.
