    2nd part to show both practitioners AND patients on how I tape the knee with kinesio tape for infrapatella and patello-femoral pain problems. The taping unloads the knee cap quite well which helps in cases where there is retropatella pain, inflammation under tendon, as well as when the quads are weak. Weak quads or VMO atrophy will mean the extensor mechanism is not as efficient in the PFJ - which can cause mechanical load and pain the joint. The taping offloads that issue somewhat which enables patients to do more of the rehab exercises to strengthen the quads and improve the cause of the problem. Sometimes the pain to too much to actually do the rehab and the patint gets stuck. The taping therefore is a temporary means to an end to rehab, not a fix in itself alone. Make sure the rehab work it done!

    I'm trying this one out, and I like it much better than the standard recommended taping for general knee pain. It does much more for my knee/patella issues.

    Hi how much over the kneecap is the 1st one? I know the 2nd one is kinda based on the 1st. And also even tho this isn't a "forced tracking" tape style, if I'm understanding correctly this is to help with support and relieving pain during squats/leg extension ect to help build/rehab quads to get stronger and track correctly on there own?

    • @physiorehab
      @physiorehab  Před 3 lety

      It’s not really over the knee cap more like under it

      @@physiorehab I figured. I tried it earlier and was able to do the stairmaster at the gym. I probably need to do a better job bcus it came up at the ends eventually. Do you think this would help rebuild the quad to track better? Also thank you for this video, it really helped.

    Hi, I have left inner knee pain for last 12 months, pain most noticeable if I do a medial lateral movement such as Pigeon Pose in Yoga, most of time it is to painful so I resort to lying on back with right leg bent and left foot resting above right knee to give the same type of stretch in hips. I have been having physio for last 10 months and they have been getting me to do certain exercises to strengthen left leg but so far pain still persists. My left side is definitely weaker especially balancing on left leg, noticeably weaker in ankle. I have just started going to gym in the last 2 months and have a PT programme which incorporates Back squat, deadlift, leg press, leg extension. The weights are not excessive in back squat at moment 50kg and no pain when performing the exercise but when I do yoga which incorporates a medial lateral movement that's when it is painful. I have just had a strapping to give me that bit extra support in gym, but in yoga one layer of tape came off as it was a hot yoga class. Strapping a bit different on under the knee cap the other over the top and down both sides. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

    This works quite well for general pain after a fall, in my case on both knees. Only issue I had was with residue glue left on knee and going outside in sun. The glue interacted with the sun or something else and caused dermatitis but I am back to using ktape and compression for pain and swelling.

    I’m a football player that worries so much about my performances , I got my ligament injured I was asked by the doctor to wait for 100days, I just can’t,to me football is not just a sport it’s life. I started using knee pads but I realized they do compress my knees which results to more pains and I can’t even control well the ball. My knees also get knackered easily. I read about knee taping and I think it’s the right choice. My questions are after knee taping, can I play football? will taping enhance my knee strength and easiness? Thanks 🙏

    I work in a Amazon warehouse and have been trying to find something to help relieve knee pain. So Far I’ve been using Advil and heat compress after work but I want something to help during my shift. Some days I work 5 hours and some days like tomorrow I’ll be doing 10 hours and that’s when I feel the pain more in my left knee especially when I have to squat down to reach something in a lower bin. Going down isn’t so much the problem but it’s coming up from the squatting where I can really feel the achy and pain in my knee so I’ve been looking into kinesiology tape but as a beginner I’m so lost on the different colors since most videos don’t say why they’re using that color or really explain the technique pattern. I don’t even know what color would be best or if the color even matter or what pattern would be best for a just a simple knee pain?

    • @physiorehab
      @physiorehab  Před 3 lety

      There is no difference in colours, the wave pattern in Kinesio tape allows only one way stretch

    My chiropractor gave me a velcro band to put under my patella to atop the ligament from shifting when i move. But it is too tight when i squat or move. Is this a good tape job to replace that tool?

    Thanks for great video…the kinesiology patella tape lift works well…but is there any roll for a patellar strap which might be more easy than the taping but worried it will put too much pressure on patellar tendon and knee cap…same problem with a sleeve with patellar cutout…thoughts
