I just watched your path to becoming a RN and then came here. I have tonsay I was shocked and scared for you at first. thank you for inspiring future LVNs and RNs🙌🏾
What a great video! Thank you so much, the only time I ever worked in a prison was during clinicals as a student, lol, so not actually a paid job. This experience was really interesting and you tell the story so well! Thank you ❤️ Also I'm as new subscriber!
I wanted to know since you were at CDCR CIW - I was interested in CIM and I hear it's very clickish, amongst the correctional medical staff there!? I also read on an indeed and Glassdoor review about custody and medical staff having beef!?? Can you give me insight on this!? Also, there's a thread/post on "all nurse", stating you can swap or switch shifts or watches with other nurses to get a 3 day a week schedule. Like 2x- 16 hours or double shifts and 1x-8 hour shift, per week! Is this true? Obviously this is for staff/civil service positions. Also do you suggest a new grad applying, or do you suggest having a year or 2 bedside ER, med Surg, tele, dou, icu experience? Thank you!
I actually just got hired as a behavioral health technician at the state prison in my state. I happened to just CZcams it and came across your video. I have been so nervous because like you said they’re so vague about everything. It set in when I started reading for the rules 😂 I’m so glad I came across your video it kinda helps with the nerves feel free to DM me. I have some questions how can I not be so nervous? I used to work juvenile corrections as a tech back in my home state but this is a whole different ball game.
Ive worked in corrections in california for about 14 years, the first year as an lvn, then medical and custody, became a correctional officer while I was in nursing school. I'm starting in 2 weeks as an RN. It seems scary at first but it's not, the officers are always around. Level 4 prisons can be crazy and if you work in mental health then yes I have seen nurses and doctors get assaulted. Normal inmates don't typical assault medical staff. Level 2 prisons are calmer, and male prisons are better, they are more respectful. Female staff are terrible. Once you get comfortable you won't want to leave.
@@marlafritts3071 I’m thinking about taking this job for six months. Do you have any tips?? I’ve been a nurse for eight years and I’ve worked the worst floors in Las Vegas
Would you recommend corrections for a new nurse? I’m stuck between going for my dream corrections job or going for LTC. I’ve been kinda nervous because I feel like corrections have a lot of running to emergencies and I’m not in the best shape and worry someone could die because I can’t run to them. Plus the company that provides corrections only provides 2 weeks of training. 1 week computer and 1 week at the jail. I’m quick to pick up on skills but I’m not sure. Money isn’t a factor as much because I know as a new nurse you’re not gonna come out making a lot but it will be more than being a CNA.
CNAs mostly do suicide watch. You would sit 1:1. Inmate would be in his cell behind closed door. CNA sits outside the door making sure he doesn’t harm himself
I had really no interview questions cause it was a crisis and they needed short term nurses. But when you apply to work for state I heard they give you scenarios.
@@jaylinandfelipe thanks for this information. I have applied thru my agency as a correctional RN in my area and I'm gonna have my meet and greet soon. Wish me luck!

This is amazing experience to add to a resume.

Very informative!! Thank you for all the information, you answered alot of my questions. Best video on CZcams regarding this topic.
Glad it helped! 😊
I love your videos! I’m currently an LVN student so you inspire me 🤩
Thank you girl! Tons of new nursing content coming soon! 😍 congrats on becoming an LVN! 🩺
My mom is a retired correctional officer so i know what happens in those facilities. You’re very brave 😳
what do you mean? is it dangerous?

Also CONGRATS! on the new job I hope it is what you wanted it to be🌸
🤗
I work 2nd Watch in Stockton CDCR.... the inmates aren't the issue it is the staff.
I worked there from it's opening to 2016. Yeah, a lot of staff liked their drama.

Love the video!
So glad your back. Love your videos
Appreciate the support 🙏🏽
We switched places lol i started off in Beverly Hills and now I’m going to the prison
Great video, thank you
Wow so interesting Jaylin! and I'm not even in the medical field
As a correctional nurse do you ever deal with male r@pe victims in prison like in trauma units, I'm genuinely curious as in how often this occurs?
Little to no existent! Especially in CA! Doesn't happen as often as it did in the 70s and 80s!
Girl I just found you & I already love your videos 💖🙏 I am an LVN case manager you should consider looking into it. 💜
💓🙏🏽

Personally I did not like LTC nursing. The workload is sooooo heavy & it’s mentally detaining
@@NurseWright-mp5gp yes it is. I’ve been working LTC since February and it’s a struggle every night
Great info.
You said $80/hour but does that include the stipends or are the stipends separate money not included in the $80 per hour?
Hi,
You’re so pretty but do you recommend any facial cream. I just subscribed to you🌸
Belif - The True Cream - Moisturizing Bomb
How much overtime were you working and is overtime even available for travel nurses who are working in prisons?
Just a genuine question! How do you feel like filming and working in prison? Just curious if you are worried that the inmates will find your videos.
The inmates are not allowed cell phones in prison & neither are staff! I never filmed inside the prison only going to work!
Can you wear a fitbit? Can you wear a non metal bracelet
What do the cnas do at the prison?
CNAs mostly do suicide watch. You would sit 1:1. Inmate would be in his cell behind closed door. CNA sits outside the door making sure he doesn’t harm himself
What interview questions were you asked?
I had really no interview questions cause it was a crisis and they needed short term nurses.
But when you apply to work for state I heard they give you scenarios.
What nursing insurance do you recommend?
I have NSO insurance for my license ☺️
Imu this intro soo Cuteeee
Everyone don't listen to this wrong answer. No, you don't apply through indeed. You apply through calcareers. You're welcome, chika.
So for a regular state job yes, but for covid crisis they needed nurses desperately so they had the covid crisis jobs listed on indeed.
Did they pay you during orientation or while on training?
No it was a 6 hour mandatory orientation! Went by very fast!

When did you leave home health.
I’m still with my home health company, but working pier diem 🙂
Y0U TOO PRETTY TO WORK AT PRISONS
This was interesting. I would think women would be worse though! I’m in an all male state max prison.
Yes the women prison was rougher than the males in my opinion!
Rougher in what way do mind explaining?
I wrote you on Instagram :)
