The main thing that is clear to me is that Karl shoots really well with any cue or shaft.
Yeah he's a pro it's not the cue it's the player
Yes I like his comments on the pool matches knows what heâs talking about and a top player
Yeah he'd be fine with one of those graphite cues from the 90s. The original carbon shaft.
Would be interesting to see a part 2 video with a proper tip and deflection measurements.
Agree đđ€đŒ
@@alucardx1234 used mine today for 3 hours of play, perfectly straight shaft, shoots very good but it's nowhere near ld like a z2 or z3 or even a 314Âł.
Definitely has power even with the stock tip which looks like decent quality and very similar to an Everest.
I was able to do a full table draw or screw comfortably but again if you are used to very low deflection this needs to be practiced with
Not bad Karl for that money , good idea for some house cue shaft for when friends call over
Good idea
I bought the same shaft from AliExpress. Tip was crap so I changed it. Deflection wise it is not that good. But now I use it as my break shaft. Taom tip on it and it breaks perfect. I owned a Cinergy, Revo and now I went to Mezz Ignite. The cheap shaft has nothing to do with a high end shaft. But as a break shaft you do nothing wrong. Keep your diet running Karl! Greetz Thomas
Bought the exact same I put a kamui sai tip on mine it works fine
I really like the Cynergy shaft.
How you liking that mezz? I'm considering one, currently using their sigma.
@@jeremyowens4115 Oh funny, I started with the Sigma in 12.5mm and then got an Ignite to test it. I switched immideatly to the Ignite and I think I will never go back. But you have to have a decent stroke because of the 12.2mm diameter. And to be honest, it is expensive. But for me worth the price
@@jeremyowens4115 The Ignite a little bit heavy. I play with no weight bolt on my Mezz and it make my cue a little top heavy. I end up bought a 11.9mm Go Customs to use as my main and the Ignite as backup.
First...thanks for this video....I have the same shaft and have a black ferule..as you said ..very dificult to aim and go near to the cue ball without touching it.. I take of the tip and put 3 white pads an a new tip...now I saw better when aiming....goid video đ
Thank you Karl for the demo and descriptions of the various feels on the pottings. Agree with you about the black ferrel!! This would be a nice option to provide for friends who stop by and wish to shoot with a carbon fiber shaft that I have adapted to one of my 2 piece cues.
Just bought one for myself to test against my Cuetec. It'll probably go onto my Preoaidre butt to be used as a break cue. I'll post the results somewhere.
I have several ok healing carbon shafts. You can get them customized many ways (white juma ferrule, various joint types, various tapers and lengths). M65 and M67 are incredible.
I bought mine from Aliexpress and I changed the tip to a kamui and it plays awesome.
My friend bought a OK Healing jump cue from Temu and he likes it he just changed the original tip because he didn't like it. Another friend of mine's bought his new cue set from a Temu I believe or similar like that and it's good and it works. For beginners that want carbon I'd recommend
Thanks for this video! I just bought three of these. A break shaft a jump shaft and a shooting shaft. And have been looking everywhere for a review on these
You aren't looking for a review. You are looking for someone to confirm your purchase.
I actually also bought one from the same seller 2 days ago as back-up shaft. đ Instead of adding a white ferrule, i plan to change the tip to a light grey like Ultraskin soft tip
Really good video, thanks for the comparison
Karl Boyes real secret to a successful gameplay finally revealed in this video. The real secret is in the carbon fibre Boss slides to help with stance and balance. đ€ Loved the video đ¶ïžđ
TIGER FORTIS CARBON SHAFT.
Carl you really need to try this. I cant say enough how good this shaft is.
Pretty much all carbon shafts from the top manufacturers have a matte finish, it gets glossier/darker the more you use it.
Yeah, I think only the whyte shafts are shinny.
McDermott Defy comes with a shiny coated shaft that feels really sticky on the hand, I didn't like it at all when I tried it.
@@procrastinator6902 Yeah, I didn't either. They said they made a new finish on the McDermott that made it better, but we will see.
ok healing is a Chinese manufacturer that sells the unfinished tubes on their website. There's likely a few different people finishing and selling them with different ferrules and joints. This looks like a great shaft for any amateur cue makers that want carbon or don't want to turn their own shafts.
I got a predator revo with a black ferrule... I hated that feature to a point where I end up selling it and got one with a white ferrule. It really makes it difficult for me to play. Maybe that is why they come with a yellow (or orange) tip on it lol
Had to buy one from your review. I had to shape the tip with a forever tool, you're spot on, it feels good when using a tiger glove. Not jacoby black or cynergy smooth but decent enough that it makes me wonder if I didn't get robbed on other carbon fiber purchases ???? The power is definitely different, am going to say its hit is sub par but what a great economy buy.
I'm glad you enjoyed the 55 pound black shaft. :)
After watching this a couple of times, I ordered one for myself. Hopefully I'd like it. For those who is looking for a white ferulled one, you can check eagle king.
Hope you enjoy it!
†id love to try the 13.9 for a break shaft or jump shaft!!!
Bought one over a year ago of ebay. Bought it primarily to leave the cue the car from 10-95 deg F. Not a real LD cue, but just like any other shaft, it takes getting used to. Good video.
how about its weight? does it have excess weight like other cheap CF shafts?
Just put mine on the scale. 12.4 mm shaft weight is 116 grams and mypredator 314.3 is 120 grams so not much of a difference in my case.
@@onnyt60 that's not bad at all, i played with a Crical CF shaft once and it's actually heavy. It's also a cheap shaft (600 AED ~ $190) for the whole cue, but I didn't like it.
So i ordered this one from temu along with a break & jump cue and a case for a bit less than that lol just for now untill I can afford some decent equipment
You could try wet sanding it with a high grade sand paper...see if it will help
Can you please try Rhino? A lot of people have been saying good things about it but never a video review.
I own 2 rhino shafts. Deflection seems very comparable to a revo 11.8 with a 12.2 diameter. The standard tip is bad in my opinion, but with a how medium it plays great and does not have the tingy sound the older revos have.
Great video, keep them coming! This is my favourite channel for pool! Also, where is the Kik and Stik Tshirt from?? :)
Iâve just found the link with the T-shirts haha! :)
Cool glad you found it
Think it would work for breaking if you changed the tip?
Please tell us about other shafts you have tested
I prefer the black ferrule myself. the white is almost distracting, but it's all personal preference.
I've had my carbon fiber with black ferrule for 2+ years and I love it!! And I put a kamui black tip on it with the clear backing, looks sharp
use the outside cylinder surface of the tip to white it with white chalk. ore another soft white colour
Iâve always wanted to buy one off temu to test outđ
It needs to place the white ferral for it to make it easier for sighting.
Two things I really like about my Revo: 1) Iâm a klutz and drop my cue quite often and there is no penalty for this with a carbon fiber shaft, and 2) the shaft is slicker than a greased pig, no glove, powder, etc. required. I do wear a glove here in the Philippines due to the really high humidity during the rainy season, although I could just wipe my hands and the shaft more oftern.
Have to get yourself some calipers pal, temu shaft looks way bigger than 12.4! Great review tho and good if you pool halls want more durable house sticks
I bought the break shaft then bought a complete cf cue from them. Idk what people are saying about defflection being bad. Only bad thing is the shooting cues tip and even then i been playing it just fine
I plan to buy also that carbon Shaft in temu
Table top looks good. Why did you change it?
I bought some off temu. Radial pin. $60. Plays pretty good
Here is the deal. The pros, who get paid fairly well to endorse expensive shafts, do not want you to know many of these shafts are way overpriced. They don't want you to know that a fairly cheap shaft can actually play pretty well.
Question, did you get your Whyte carbon shaft brand new? or is this still the one you got from Fedor? Because typically all the carbon fiber shafts get glossier and darker as you play with it longer, a good example was FSR's What's in the Bag episode you did with him, his old shaft vs the new backup.
I got mine new and the finish is completely different to this Temu one
KARL IS THE WHYTE CARBON SHAFT THE BEST ONE TO BUY? PLEASE EXPLAIN YOUR OPINION........ ALSO WE NEED A WHAT'S IN THE BAG WITH FEDOR GORST
i know some people with okhealing as break cues and theyâre pretty solid for that
Please review the SMO when you can
Do another video and break the Temu shaft in half and show us what it is made of. Or cut it in half.
I always wondered if they are really made out of carbon or some fake stuff.
Thanks for the video, I wish you did a deflection test like Drdavebilliards does on his channel with your good cue as a control.
I would estimate that this deflects at least an inch and a half using Dr. Dave's standard test.
Lmao this is going to get good
I have a brandless chinese carbon shaft with a 13.5mm tip that i pair with my mezz powerbreak kai. Itâs amazing for roughly 100 USD
I buy stuff from temu all the time. They have some decent stuff.
Itâs amazing how people are different. I myself much prefer the black ferrule. The white ferrule is distracting to me. My revo is black ferrule and when I order other CF I request a black ferrule
I also like unshiny Matt finish so Iâm going to order this lol đ
I hate white ferrule so much⊠itâs same color as the cueball and sometimes I even foul using a white ferrule đ
Wow thatâs amazing and very true hahaha
@@KarlBoyesPoolLifemate can you give me the link for this specific shaft. I found other ones from okhealing which are white ferrule and I couldnât find the 12.4 black ferrule uni loc. I searched the same name and canât find it
Whatâs the sandpaper block thing you used? Seems handy
Looks like a sanding sponge, get them from a hardware store
good to know. there must be a way to shine up that shaft
I like your table, Carlboy.
Thanks đ€©
The shiny or matte really has nothing to do with the smoothness at all. Besides, most carbon fiber shafts come with a matte finish and get a bit more shiny. The biggest scam in all of pool is the cost of shafts. It is ridiculous. So let's get this straight - Karl uses a shaft for an hour, which is different from his other shaft, and he can make a really good judgement on this shaft? Hmm. I don't think so.
Play with it for a few days and get really used to it then come back and be honest. And the tip thing is a personal preference. This is not to say that this shaft is really good - but the FACT that people are paying very high prices for carbon fibers shafts and this relatively cheap shaft performed fairly well with a tip Karl didn't like proves my point.
I had a similar thing with a shaft from fleabay. Fixed the ferrule and tip and it now makes a decent break/jump cue.
What is your point exactly??
nice video , there this one i been eyeing on Raven Carbon shaft like the raven logo they have it 199.00 dollar Ebay ,
My brother and I got the raven break/ jump cue. They feel and play great, specially for the price.
Got an ok healing shaft 9mm to play English eight ball. Less deflection than my peradon one piece. Did change tip to a kamui medium snooker.
As an American, I have no idea what a "healing" shaft is. Can you explain that to me?
Same shaft like mine but i have 11.8mm
Is there a link to the one you bought, as there are so many sellers, so many different knockoffs
More temu reviews please
A decent cue repair guy can make put something on the shaft and polish it up. And.. mow deflection shafts get most of their effects by having very low weight in the front of the shaft. For 55 pounds, that is a steal. The 13.9 mm would make a cheap break shaft.
Kind of wonder how the feel would be after running down the shaft with Isopropyl alcohol.
You can put a ceramic coating on it. It will get rid of that sound and it will be smooth
Ok thanks đ€©
What tool is he using to scuff up the tip?
Make a good break shaft?! You agree? I'd get a 12.9mm,swap the tip and ferrule be done with it. Maybe you can paint it at the joint and polish or burnish it to a shine? Worth a shot. And I'm glad you said that about black ferrules. That big company(Pre....tor) gives you custom shaft options now and a white ferrule is now a option all though kinda thin.
Why do you not want to spell out the word Predator? Will the thought police come to your house and arrest you?
you found the predator revo blanks on temu lmao.
I think it would be nice if you could put a different tip on it and maybe make another vid with a final opinion because we all know this tip is a bit os achilles heel
I think you can compare it better with JF shafts. Not with the SMO though.
Any carbon shaft sanded to 3000 will be smooth and shine
Carbon is a weave so no matter how much you sand it you can't make it glossy.. Also sanding carbon is very dangerous for health
Karl please keep videos like this coming , so informative cant get enough of them. There are so many different carbon fiber shafts on the market is definitely overwhelming. I play with a predator cue and have 2 revo shafts i play better with the 11.8 than i do with the 12.4 but i like the pro taper on the 12.4 for the feel much better. But there is just something about the feel of both the shafts that i just don't like , hard to explain. I recently bought my wife a whyte carbon fiber shaft for her McDermott cue . She loves it. Im glad they make the shaft with interchangeable joints i will be buying in a uni for my predator cue. Whyte fit feel and play is on an entirely higher level than revo. I would love to see a video on the tiger fortis carbon. lots of hype on this shaft. But with only the one video I've seen on this shaft, i cant trust the source. Thank you karl with all you do for this sport .
Carl I need it
Wow 55 vs 500! Yes please.
Should have put your usual tip on for the last third of the vid.
I bought one with 9.5mm tip and 5/8x16 thread, since I needed to have 1/2 snooker cue to fit with the pool cue into the same case. Also OKHealing brand. I agree the tip was awful, replaced it with something better and now it plays fine. Mine has white and black ferrule, so no issue with blending colors. I am also not a fan of ash cues, so this one for snooker seems way better.
So almost all positives, but one significant drawback - it seems to lack "power", for a lack of better term. I feel like strong shots are dampened somehow, as compared to my regular cues, both snooker (ash) and pool (kielwood).
This seems like a great shaft for beginners, since it's not likely to get damaged when banging it with balls during practice or if oyu leave it in a car trunk overnight in winter. Easier to clean as well I believe.
Thanks for the video Karl!
and the join diameter was exactly the same ?
@@haydenwalton2766 There is a small lip, but I don't really mind. You can't feel it when cueing. It could be the butt fault as well, since it came from a cheap, old cue.
On my Predator Roadhouse cue it was a perfect fit. Exactly like my 314.3 shaft.
Well you gave me one, plays well but not used it as much as I wanted...
And you weren't bad against Jayson in the Scottish tournament...
Do a review of the Whyte Carbon.
They also make it with white ferrule - just not available on temu.
So where to order if not TEMU?
is it possible to change ferrule as well or only the tip?
You would need someone who is very skilled to do that
A link to buy this shaft ?
i use a rhino one its not to bad get what u pay for
What about if you take one of those silver markers and mark the ferrule?
I have a carbon fiber shaft and I took a white paint pen and drew a small perpendicular (not circumferential) line at the end of my ferrule to use as a "sight." It will eventually wear off, but it really helps me look down the shaft and focus for pinpoint accuracy.
How much that carbon shaft cost? Where you bought it from? It might sounds ok.
That sound can be removed with a polish machine. The black ferrule is OK. this video just proves that CB shafts are overpriced.
Oh absolutely. It is way out of control. The price of these shafts is ridiculous and the pros really don't want you to know you can get an off brand shaft relatively cheap and it plays well. You just have to get the tip you like and go from there.
- you can polish that shaft just like you would with a wooden. I did it.
- the manufacturer has shafts with a white plate. the reseller you bought from just doesn't offer it.
- I was able to buy this shaft in my country for 45 âŹ. if you need a wider selection you have to go at the moment to aliexptess. Price will then be more like 80⏠incl. shipping.
If ya only play bar tournaments or just pool hall donât need a top brand but would recommend ya buy a top brand if ya a pro
Just got 2 carbon shafts receantly ferule donât bother it black but the tip is hard as hell
Hit it with some 10k grit sand paper. It'll shine it up and smooth it out
Would gladly play with it... Are you donating it Karl đ. It would represent you in Kenya
Maybe one day! đđŒ
Whoâs got the link
So you play with whyte carbon shaft? The one with white coatibg or black one?
aha someone didnt watch the video carefully. it was black.
I have tried the same shaft, believe me the hall or home cues play the same. Do not waste your money and save them for any known cue brand.
What or you using to shape the tip , almost looks like like a sponge with sandpaper on it
Yes itâs a sponge but with sandpaper attached. You can get those almost any hardware store for $6 or so. Iâm in constructing and use them all of the time for sanding cabinets or trim. They have all kinds of grits available. I was impressed to see him use one of those on the tip. Great idea!
Change the Tip bro!
Disclaimer if your a maple wood shaft player switching to carbon or even low deflection give it a week or so!
You will immediately hate the way it makes you miss balls but its actually not the shaft its how you was aiming with wood that was the issue!
Only think about the feel and consistency of hit not the all made or missed!!
Lookin' a bit thinner there, karl!
Slowly coming off
Worst carbon fibre cue I ever had was a go customs. So so so bad
im shooting with a jacoby kielwood shaft with standard tiger everest tip,it shoots great, the hell with carbon shafts.
Might try one
dont understand the critic of the too smoothness of the cue gliding through the fingers. this is normally what you want, especially by pool players because they have no pause at the backswing. it gets stickier and shinier over time from natural hand oil transfer. add a little bit of white insulating tape on the black ferrule and your sighting critic is erased too.
It looks like a Carom-3C cueđ€
I hope we could see chezka centeno gear she was on the path to being the best female player ever â€
Thats some great weed your smoking to lose yer cue like thaat haha đ€Ł
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Did u leave those sandals in saudi đđ
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Karl, I think you bought a Carom shaft.
Is the part of the shaft below the tip called a ferrule or vault plate? And does anyone know the difference?
This is a bit of a trick question. A shaft may or may not have a vault plate which is essentially just a plastic disc between the tip and the ferrule. The ferrule actually goes into the shaft a little bit and can be anywhere from a few mm to an inch in length. Smaller shaft cues tend to come with brass ferrules or can be upgraded to titanium. Larger shafts generally come with a hard plastic/imitation ivory ferrule. Itâs rare to see ivory ferrules and in my opinion are a shitty thing to be proud of owning.
So to answer your question, itâs generally called a ferrule, but the shaft can sometimes have a vault plate like the predator Revo does.
@@exscalliber My carbon fiber shaft only has a tip, vault plate, and then the shaft. No ferrule. It's the same with the Revo. It seems like you're wrong in terms of the order. It's either vault plate or ferrule and not both. Vault plate being more popular in carbon fiber shafts and ferrules with wood. It makes sense because why would a shaft need both a ferrule and a vault plate? They both provide separation between the tip and the shaft. Having both is redundant and not only costs more money to make, but makes the shaft heavier, adds to the length, and everything is calculated when making a shaft.
@@murahk123 we are actually both wrong, what I got confused with is a silencer pad. A vault plate is the predator way of saying itâs a ferrule for carbon shafts. They explain it in their support pages when googled. Either way, a silencer is not that uncommon with the Kamui clear being one of the most popular tips with a silencer. You are supposed to install the tip on the ferrule with the plastic attached.
There are very few cues that have no ferrule and only a silencer pad. They are generally custom wood cues however. Every carbon fibre shaft has a ferrule since the only way to give the carbon pipe a flat surface at the tip is to have a ferrule or âvault plateâ if you are Predators marketing department.
