My favorite thing about these videos is when Toby exudes pure joy when he reviews a fast boat. He is one of the best at boat reviews....Yachting World should give this man a raise :)
Of all the cats I've seen throughout CZcams... this is the one screaming my name the loudest lol. Love it. I would be delighted to own one :)
Absolutely beautiful. Could be my favourite cat. I love the minimalist interior styling too.
What a cat ! Makes you feel alive and having fun all the time. Congrat Marsaudon, and thanks Toby for this amazing presentation.
A pleasure!
Is it only me who looks for the excitement in Toby's intro... Always gives me a sneak peek...😂
Thanks for this one Toby, I hope you are doing well. No question, innovative and super appealing for the speedophiles. About as appealing as an offshore vessel gets, well done ORC and Marc Lombard.
So well done to board in this boat and share a trial! Thx a million! Marsaudon are worth any gunboats or Outremer of this world!
Thanks for your report - always a pleasure to follow your comments.
12:32 That look of anguish at not being out on the boat sailing!
There's a 65' Marsaudon Tri with c-foils for sale, Chrome wrapped it is the coolest boat I've ever seen.
Hell yes, Mr Hodges, Finally a Fiberglass or Composite Material, for the Interiors that looks so good. I worked on Maui for some Thirty Years , got my captain License by 18, skipper all the Best Sailing Cats Every Damn Day and I hated the Interiors Sides and Ceiling's. Hell you could See and Count the Layers of Matt, Glass, and Ever Damn Fiber in the Construction of the Hull. No amount of Paint would Cover the that Damn Fiber glass look and I don't know what it is but I Swear my Eye would always Search out the Imperfections and it would kind of start to bug you . Cleaning, or Spraying down the inside of the hull, Forget it Hell we had Mold , Mushrooms , growing out of the Cabin Tops on Both Hulls So Gross. I would go for the Custom Bar Option gotta keep all the Bottles of fine Scotch and Tequila Safe on a Rough Day That Looks so Good Thanks for Showing Such a Great Yacht.
Beautiful Cat with amazing speed. Unfortunately, I love my comfort too much.
Good luck to whoever buys it.
Is it a dayracer or an extended distance fastcruiser? Why is there so much windowlight in the sleepingcabins? What’s the fridge and the anchor and tackle like? Ease of reefing? Howmany people of what qualifications does it need to go cruising both fast and safe ?
Love this boat!!
Probably the best production cat in all of Europe at present, just gorgeous.
Probably WW. Marsaudon make Gunboat looking like 🤔… heavy boats!
Good job Sir.
i love this boat!
They have carbon cats like this in Newport RI in the summer and it's pure eye candy walking the docks.
She looks like fun. I’m a little too old for that much fun, though. Well done.
You’d me surprised! Just put up the sail area you feel comfortable with
I would throw those numbered pillows out the window on the first sail. 🤣
looks perfect,like this one.
when you wait for it and you wait for it and you wait for it .....
and then wait some more, where will you finally see it?
to Toby's
Dream yacht
Looks like a spaceship from the front , brilliant .The smartest , so far. I would ask choice of enclosed back for the rain and cold . Dark green materials instead of dark gray , and the white walls . Good price for the value. Bigger engines ?
my dream cat

Awesome, need I say anymore but, would love interior helm navihelm stations...
This would be a wonderful boat for a best friend to own who could take me sailing on her, but I would need more creature comforts
Gorgeous! All emphasis on structural engineering, build quality and unlimited performance. All great when she lives in a marina. But, going offshore on extended passages, you do need necessary items, and those items do add up to a lot of volume and weight.
Still, Marsaudon and their 3 models are the best out there.
what necesssary items are missing?
I love everything except The helm positions
I'm with you there.
Is there any design or engineering to help prevent daggerboard housing damage, should an unexpected strike happen?
Probably. The daggerboards are most likely sacrificial. Guessing that Marsaudon Composites will answer any questions you might have.
Thanks as always Toby.
How about a design brief that says "humane and safe interior and exterior?"
They should copy Chris White's later designs. His later designs are mostly better than his early ones, where Marsaudon seem stuck.
Cool toy
I like it but my heart is with Gun Boat.
Aren't Gunboat and ORC both owned by Outremer??
I must have missed it but but how many knots is this boat capable of?
20+
All the kns!
Does ARC in 12 days consistently.
(Works out to 14kns avg speed over all)
Starts at 950,000USD fully pimped racing version would go up to 1.5/6 mil USD.
She looks nice on the outside with her black hull but once you step on the back deck it gets boring, Imo the Outremer 55 (GreatCirlce) dances ⭕️’s around this build. However Toby did say as I was typing this comment that this Cat started at $1.195M-it was minimalist in design features-aesthetics (I agree) though even still I can’t just flip flop back n forth on Cats, so I’ll double down, imo the Outremer 55 is where it’s at for me. Cheers.
~11 ton, pretty impressive weight to length. Would be interesting to see polar diagrams, especially the performance in light breezes.
faster than wind , tws 20 - 110 - sog 25
tws 7 - sog 11
@@muratcemtunali1109 tws 7 - sog 11, that is exactly why people should buy yachts like these. Although I guess that is abeam, what about hard on, and what is its pointing ability?
Can it beat the Rapido 60 or the Bañulsdesign/McConaghy 53 tri?
@@angela1984a try this nuomo. com/boatSadBruceCalculator.htm
As sexy as a mangrove crab crossed with a skylark. But love the 38 knots at speed. Definitely a different kind of sailing…
The sailing video provided by the manufacturer seems to show a true wind speed of 38 knots, and a boat speed of 18 knots. Still very fast. And it looked pretty stable for the conditions.
Not at all a fan of its styling here either.
I’m sure it’s expensive, and well-built, but you really have to want to go fast more than be comfortable
Bu ta ful…to the lucky owner, well done …
If there’s no generator and solar is power only generated with alternators on engines?
Are you aware of how much power you can get from hydrogeneration on a catamaran of this size? There is probably hydrogeneration built in to the twin saildrives.
You could easily have 1200w coming from today's alternators. 2400W from both running. Plus performance hydrogenation.
Handsome Bloke
Wow! The design and engineering that went into that boat is stunning. But, it is targeted at a small niche market: people who want to go fast with minimal luxuries. There are actually very few such people so these boats are entirely custom made. Another issue, which Toby brought up: They are high performance boats, most often very much beyond the capabilities of most people to handle. A few years ago, I looked at a Dazcat (which is in the same category as this Marsaudon). I backed off explaining to the seller that it was more boat than I was a sailor.
But it is not just about going fast, it is also about the ability to sail in light wind. Personally I hate motoring, the noise, smell and vibrations. I can't see how much harder they are to sail than any obese cat. You just reef earlier if you want too keep under control in heavy weather.
I love speeding ♥️and I have the balls made of carbon to push this beast to its limits😁
It looks quick and for sure I'd like a go but as you say, niche market I'd think, the exterior hull colours look gorgeous but everywhere else, so white, so bland and so much wasted space, you may as well go smaller so the vast amount of nothingness is reduced. But yeah, I'd still like to sail it.
Why go smaller. It wouldn’t perform as well and you’d feel more cramped.
I'm sure they would be able to work something out for you if you're willing to spend the money...
Because these cats are essentially custom, you can have as much or as little of an interior fit-out as you'd like as long as you arrive somewhere within the safe design lightship range. Obviously with more joinery, creature comforts etc, the weight increases along with comfort and performance is diminished. Therefore, it's up to each owner to arrive at the specification that's right for them; clearly this particular hull is quite far towards the bare race boat end of that spectrum. That's one thing that I find so fascinating about fast cats!
12:47 How did you figure 400 liters equal 44 gallons? Eton math?
I enjoy your reviews, so please don't stop, but could you please try to get the sound sorted. Your colleagues at Motor Boat and Yachting have far clearer sound all the time.
Yes apologies once again, I accept that! We've tried a range of different mics between us and this was shot with a directional mic which didn't work as well as expected, so have since moved back to a wired lapel mic (like MBY). Going full circle!
@@yachtingworld thanks for responding so quickly. I must repeat, I Really enjoy your reviews, so keep putting them on line
5:42 heads up.
15 meters squared is 15 meters by 15 meters = 225 square meters
Suffice to say meters squared is not the same as square meters.
So this cat does not have a 15 meters squared cockpit.
I'm going to go against the grain here and say, its too sterile, its like an operating room inside. I need colors and wood grains. Storage is minimal. it just looks like the inside of an empty hot tub.
I reckon a Moody Eclipse twin keel could show the beast a thing or two.
12:14 1.195 million WHAT? Pounds? Dollars? Euros?
You guys can have it; I go on vacation surfing charters to have fun, not to feel like I just walked into Walmart. I will stick with Outremer and other brands.
I always like Toby TW videos. These serve as a connection to boats I will never see in person.
Thanks Peter
Its awesome but too bad helm positions
They are ridiculous
Hi Toby, Do you think the new ORC57 design makes it safer than the ORC50 - I am referring to the two ORC50s which capsized in the last 2 years)?
It depends how you sail it !
Flexible solar panels would make it even better,or regen motors.
I'm guessing both of those are options from the factory...
Raised in the wintry American Northeast, but last 33 years living in the constant sun of Southern California. There’s NO WAY I want a Catamaran with the sun shining directly into my living quarters all day. I could see someone who doesn’t know any better (Northern Europeans used to 6 months of winter) mistakenly buying one of these only to sell in a few years. Cavernous Monohulls have their place.
I don't like the no compromise thing. If I am paying over $1 million for your boat and I want AC, a water maker and maybe a Gen set, and a second Genoa so be it. Find a way to install it and warn me that top speed will be reduced from 22 knots to 18 knots so I can be comfortable and happy. And I want a Expresso machine and refrigeration to allow me to cross the Atlantic ocean in 12 days without stopping for supplies. Maybe if you increase the length to a 57 feet L.O.A and add a helm station inside, the boat will be attractive to cruisers.
It will have all you’ve mentioned except a generator.
@@SailingLaVagabonde it can have a generator :)
Probably need to change the name though! 😂
The word you were looking for is "BITCHIN' " I'll be the Loud American in this case!🤙🏽
Perfect thanks!
I like it, but I like the Gunboats better.
checkout the price of the gunboat, might change your mind!!!
How much would it be?
At the end it says €1.195m ex VAT as a base price.
@@angela1984a Thank you!
@@kapoorh I'm guessing you've also seen the Rapido 60. There is a somewhat updated version of that boat. You can learn more in Sailing La Vagabonde's latest video here on Y-tube...
Internal deck looks like a Rec room at a community centre.
Is it delaminate yet? Do you have the rudders still or have they fallen off? I understand the ICNN are corrupt and have given these boats certification when they are incredibly poorly made and are dangerously built with numerous resin infusion failures and design defects.
I understand they are now owned by the same owners as Outremer. Old quality issues should no longer be so prevalent with the new owners.
Here's my dream business plan. The shipyard is bought by Beneteau, keep the team and the CEO. They keep the bare bones base model for sailomasochists, but then throw away the numbered cushions; hide the pipes in the walls, add options of sound insulation, and proper lockers; replace those dildoes in the back with proper under-the-roof helm - et voila, we have an ideal Caribbean/Med cat. You snorkel and fish and bathe on one island and then quickly zip to the next. Who's with me?
Hot looking yacht from the outside looking in, I'm sure it would be a great fun weekender but no way could I go cruising with it.
It would be the most uncomfortable cruiser and I'm sure anyone who bought this for cruising would soon sell it.
I’ve heard lightening is much more likely/damaging to a carbon fiber boat…additionally no ac, no gen, and noise to boot! How many cat cruisers are racing and want to sacrifice all that for a few hours saved per day/passage?
It has proper ventilation in the saloon. Do you need AC in the saloon then? If you put drapes at the feet of the beds, then all you need is a small AC that just cools the area you sleep in. This very solution was implemented on a larger HH the Wynns were guests on, and it worked perfectly. It's documented on their YT-channel "Gone with the Wynns". That way you can easily run those small ACs of a large enough lithium-ion battery bank if you have hydro generation and enough solar (think extra foldable panels that can be stored in lockers and put on the trampolines when at anchor).
alright for a coastal weekend but hate it really. Qualifications for comment. World cruised liveaboard on my cat for 20 years

All that power and absolutly no charm.
The ability for it to sail past you while you motor in a light breeze is its charm.
yes it duse
It’s super cool looking, but heaven forbid you hit something at speed like a log or shipping container with those fine reverse sheer bows.
And how often do the fine folks out and about on the water run into logs or shipping containers?...
@@angela1984a depends. Logs are a regular and insidious hazard in the pacific NW. if you represent the builder your question should be how do we protect the boat from that sort of event. Hopefully that question was asked and answered. I’ll excuse your insolent sarcasm this once.
@@ripharwood4138 1) I do of course not represent the builder. 2) Having the possibility for speed doesn't mean that you MUST use that speed at all times. 3) What makes this boat worse than any other boat? Why would a "fine reverse sheer bow" be any worse than any other type of bow? You don't think there are a lot more factors at play here besides just the shape?
@@angela1984a In principle, a wider, forward pointing bow could ride over an obstacle. In practice no boat likes hitting things. Collisions are a valid safety concern.
@@LoanwordEggcorn On the other hand: This ORC57 from Marsaudon Composites is hardly the only catamaran with reverse bows. And how many new monohulls today have forward pointing bows? All of them seem to have plum bows. In fact nearly all new monohulls the last 15 years or so seem to have plum bows. Also: There are a lot of CZcams sailing channels out there... How many of those have experienced a collision with floating debris? I haven't heard of a single one... And even if this ORC57 were to hit something - my understanding is that it has been designed to take such a hit without compromising the first watertight bulkhead. And that is not something unique for this cat. ALL boats have crash-compartments separated by watertight bulkheads.
First?
No, this is not a Beneteau.
I disagree. with the majority of comments here, sadly.. I find TH's fawning about impossibly expensive yachts irritating. Not what used to be what YM was about i.e. older reviews of real world affordable yachts with a proper assessment of the good and bad characteristics which were not pseudo adverts for the elite yacht makers. I'm sure he has fun, and he's a likeable enough guy, but this sort of puff piece may get clicks but it isn't what YM should be about. Be honest and mark it as an ad for the manufacturer because this is what this series has become in recent years
Erm this is Yachting World. Not YM. And I try and show a video tour for pretty much every new sailing boat launch there is. For free. Nothing to do with adverts in our magazine - try flicking through it, you'll see few of these brands do actually advertise. We still do full boat tests in the magazine and try and show those where possible too. This was a quick tour at a boat show premiere, for those interested in seeing the boat that's all. Again, for free. sorry you didn't like it! T
Very nice but for me no. Too austere, niche as you point out.
Prime real estate waiting to be sunk by an ocean storm
Two things are must, shaft drive and a protected helm it’s a shame that they make such a nice boat like that, set it up for almost a liverboard, and then set it up with two exposed Helms, get your shit together don’t build a racing yacht and try to make it something it’s not, don’t make a live aboard, and try to make it something it’s not,
obviously not fit for ocean cruising, seen the very exposed helm stations
audio sucks btw....
Holy MOLY! This is actually painful to watch. Desirability very high, ability to purchase low. The only way I can handle these emotions is to resort to jealousy, hate, anger and petty sniping. Rubbish! 😂
I was counting on you getting one Jim!
Hmm. tbh, I don't even see that boat as is, even having a Niche, and certainly not for Cruising. Don't get me wrong, I find Luxury is Counter prod7ctive for actual Cruising, as too many luxury boats, from what I've seen, rarely if ever leave Harbour or Marina without someone other than the owner Skippering it. However Comfort for Cruising is Critically important, and that includes things like Motion on the water, how waves are dealt with things like wedging yourself in safely while cooking - important point, electric cooking but no generator ? is this one of those silly electric Vehicle type boats with no backup for anything, other than high output alternators on the engines (at least it has those, some Nutters don't even have them on electric boats ), plus of course noise itself is extremely fatiguing if you add in the slamming that results from short vertical faced waves, that are so common in the Irish Sea for example - hours of beating into that, and you are really glad to get in to shelter and take an aspirin for the thumping headache. Frankly, if s speed addict, either buy a top fuel Dragster, or save a fortune by buying a decent motorbike, withbwhich you can easily humiliate Wimps with no bottle driving Porsche's. A boat that's not for me, but I pity the poor sod who ends up with one. Please get them to Ditch the Cruiser Tag, it's False Advertising imho. 🤔
Meh, light wind performance makes this boat a winner. Sailing at 5 knots and over taking a boat motoring IS luxury..
You seem unaware of how much power you can get from hydrogeneration on a catamaran of this size. There is probably hydrogeneration built in to the twin saildrives. Also: What boat for the same money will have better Motion on the the water than this? I can only think of one - the Rapido 60.
"I pity the poor sod who ends up with one."
Just LOL.
@@angela1984a
Not unaware, but very wary of what cam behave as a fishing lure, and what that can attract that can be very nasty. I've been following what's been happening, with so called Orca "Attacks" on Boats, which normally amount to them knocking off, and therefore disabling the little Boat Speedvimpellors. Feel free to stick bigger Bait Spinners on your boat if you wish to. Me, I'm only having a speed impeller if at all, on a flip up transom mount to lift it clear of the water, if I bother having one at all. tbh, the only Multihull I've ever been tempted by, is a Trimaran. The closest I can be tempted, is with a well built proper Deck Saloon Monohull, but most suck in the handholds and wedge in safely ability. There are overwhelmingly good reasons, why around 70% of all boats in the World are Monohull ones, in addition to which, no Monohull has ever let me down, even when crewing for idiots, I could always rely on the boat (after a good look over it, of course). Happy Wakes and Great Destinations to you. Bob. 👍🇬🇧🏴🇺🇲

No, that's just Speed. There are more important things than that ut I admit the amount of fun there is to be had, from pulling alongside the Average Porsche driver, changing down to first gear on the motorbike, then go past on the Back wheel then hard accelerate into top gear, and see what speed they bottle out (it's usually about 90 mph they are bricking themselves). However, if you are Touring Europe on a Motorbike, other features become far more important than outright speed, the ability to travel over 1,000 miles in a Day, and arrive at your destination still fresh and grinning. The Same applies very much to Boats doesn't it ? Whizzing round the Cans, or Showing off around a Bay - different Stories I'm really not interested in tbh. But if you are, then best of luck to you, and I wish you every success (after a while though, those things tend to just become Sane old same old, and Boring, but relish them while they remain being fun). 👍🙂🇬🇧🏴🇺🇲
Yeah, mostly a day-sailer. No conveniences at all. No washer dryer, limited refrigeration, few creature comforts, I'll pass on this one. To really enjoy the speed, one has to tolerate heavy seas that accompanies most high wind conditions. It can only be fun for so long!
The big advantage of a boat like this is that it can still sail at a perfectly good speed when almost all other sailboats have to motor... That and going along at very respectable speeds in conditions also known as 'Champagne Sailing'... A washer/dryer is an easy install. I'm 100% certain that it's an optional extra since Yachting World's walk-around on the ORC50(TS5) shows one installed(!)... And how difficult could it be adding another fridge when the boat is built at the factory?... Remember - they are only planning on building two of these each year...
wtng
Oh….it’s just a catamaran. I was expecting a real boat.
Not a good design for long distance cruising. But fun to impress girls around the shallow bays.
Everything is on the wrong place. Get a sunreef.
How does a Sunreef sail? Like a brick? And how much diesel does a Sunreef burn when it can't sail in light wind conditions?...
Very fast coastal sailor, a toy. With zero comfort, not suited for the oceans unless you're sadomaso.
nope luzery fsdt cre live sbord
This is the catamaran and not a monohull, so please stop putting the helm in the back of the boat. It is way pass due for a new and better idea to build a good catamaran !!! How about putting the helm forward for the better of every thing ???
Lots of catamarans have aft helms (including all racing ones)! It's horses for courses, some appreciate the direct steering, others prioritise the visibility
Appears cheap and unfinished.
The cherry on top of the unfortunate interior design are the sheets that look like Hitler flags.
Pay attention how loud it is in the video. Imagine it on the ocean.
What "Hitler flags"? Because there happens to be white, black and red colors aboard this boat? So what's your suggestion here? That we ban red as an interior accent color?
Stop looking for something that isn't there.
