I hope to be around - a meloncholy that stems from feeling aimless. We're escapists, we belong with nature, it is what makes us feel connected and truly happy. Up until then we float around in this man made world which is very hard for us to understand. We are trying really hard to understand a world that has been built and changed by so many complex minds previously that we forgot where we actually come from. We don't take a break to appreciate nature and feel the connection that we have with it. The one very real one that we escape in search for more difficult/unattainable ones that keep us extremely busy. I love how they share such contemporary thoughts and are so genuine in reflecting them through their music. I wish I could talk to them irl.

A couple of things maybe, some of the only things tangible to us that don't seem corrupted or have some kind of filter that has been brought upon throughout this experience. (I hope to be around)Hopeful to truly BE! Free ourselves from all the what ifs. Ya know... what if we didn't, we being people, mess with nature, what if I didn't marry so and so. What if world war whatever didn't happen. What if religion is.. well you know. Free ourselves of these binds self preservation, expiration, fear of the unknown have put on us. Hopefully, as she says. Because we really don't know once this experience is over if all of that will be stripped and we will be seen in our raw natural form. Which I think we all long for as individuals and as a group in some way.

Is it like reading a book and you just like the lyrics? How would you know the voice?
Deaf people can pick up on the vibrations. They can't 'hear' the music, but they can 'feel' the different frequencies, and hear it in their own way. People who lose their hearing tend to keep listening to the same types of music (metal heads keep listening to metal for example).

GOD DAMN I saw them live last night. They were SO good live. I'm buying a ticket as soon as they list a show near me again unless it's logistically impossible for me to make the show.
Things I liked: everyone can play their instrument. Sound check was perfect. I could hear everyone's part perfectly. They sound like a well rehearsed band, playing slow and TIGHT. One of the smoothest shows I've seen thus far. The way each member looked at the other members and how they addressed the crowd. The kind of presence that is captivating in which I was satisfied with giving them my full attention. I will continue to think of Men I Trust as a band with good composition and good sound and now as a hell of a performance band. Keep making shit, I love y'all. I will see you every time you come to New Orleans. I missed the first time y'all came not too long ago and am so glad I caught y'all the second time (I pray to Sheba, the devil, or whomever that y'all come back).
This is the kind of band that makes me feel good to support financially. One with artistic ability.

Men I Trust is a whole vibe. It's their simple, sublime, soothing melodies and the feels their songs give. I'm always transported to either a rainy afternoon in the city, in my artsy loft, barefoot in my jeans and pixie cut hair, with a steaming cup in hand while watching the rain paints the city grey and my windows melancholy. Or I'm at an art gallery. With lazy browsers and intrigued buyers looking at art, seeing beauty and expression with Men I Trust softly whispering their mellow tunes in the background. Again with my pixie cut, wine glass in hand, painted lips and cute dress, I feel womanly. Urbane yet delicate in a swanky city.

there’s something about this song bro… I’m just crying listening to it right now. ever since I was a child I just wanted my family to accept me, especially my cousins. I’d do anything for their approval, for them to include me, look my way. I’d even go as far as to exclude my own brother (exactly what they did to me) so they’d like me. one day we were all camping and it was me and my cousins. I had really bad allergies and I was sneezing and snuffly. they all yelled at me, moved to the other side of the tent, and told I was disgusting. I tried to go to my parents tent but they didn’t really understand bc they were tired. They just told me to go back and the rest of the night I had to lay there crying. At 17 (this happened when I was around eight or nine) thinking of this day still brings me extreme anxiety and fear. I always cry when k think about it. And to this day those four cousins hang out with each other excluding me. But I’m trying to grow and let it go. I realized i can’t poor into people that don’t deserve it. I now have confidence in the fact that I’m a valuable person that desvenes to be loved. That there are people that care about me. That I don’t need someone else or anyone to decide that for me. I dream of a future where I can be who I am and be loved authenticity and honestly for that. I want to become myself I want to be who I am. I don’t want to be scared anymore or care what they think. I dream of that future.
You are special and loved. Trust me, keep speaking life into your reality and showing up for YOU, I promise your nirvana is waiting for you, keep striving towards it.

Listening my wife’s university brings this song (never heard of this band before her) to mind. I imagine her on the bus to the uni of Alberta and on the train to Concordia. I always wanted to go to post secondary but supporting family always got in the way. For me, I haven't listened too much to what the song really might be saying, but for me the track is such a positive and Trusting track. It is a track which seems to me to be about someone healing from a life spent telling lies, and FINALLY being able to believe what they say, in themselves, and thus being now able to declare the truth as a positive and empowering thing. It's a track about someone who can FINALLY feel confident speaking how they really feel, laying out exactly how they feel, and feeling that whatever life next throws at them for having these feelings, they will be able to overcome it. It is a track about confidence, and that really looks forward to the future we will be moving into. What a lovely track. Thank you Men I Trust

I love that the videos include the lyrics! Anytime I'm looking up music, I rarely search for the actual video; I just wanna see a lyric video to know what the words are.
