I have the same drawer to fix. This is very helpful. Good video!

From my personal experience, the only thing that really works is sadly not easily available to purchase in the UK. It's the product you used called WeldOn 'No.4' and it literally dissolves one side of the cracked plastic to the other and makes a bond that's as strong, if not stronger, that the original. It works brilliantly and repaired cracks in my fridge drawers where the cracks ran along the brackets where the weight in the drawer is constant. It can be a bit ugly if you put too much as it leaves the plastic diffused, and it's tricky to apply because its viscosity is that of water, but it really works and welds the material together.

In a similar situation I glued / taped copies of 2 photos I enjoy to the front [ie. visible] area of the drawer I fixed. It's creative, unusual and visually appealing. ... Thanks for producing this video.

Thanks man, definitely a great video, saved me alot of time and $$. Takes a real man to show you his mistakes, and allow others to learn from them. Hey, that might even a really good show/channel, showing people DIY's but on how NOT to do something and show them actual examples as to why it wouldn't work. Hmm food for thought. Well from The Bronx, NY thanks again for the vid.

I have glued so many fridge drawers in my house but they always come apart days later. But when I used a wood burning tool I melt the parts back together and it works. At least so far.

Thanks ! This helped me fix my broken shelf :-). I used acetone to eep pieces in place and then used Plexi Glass (CD cover) bonded with industrial epoxy adhesive for stronger joints :-)

Lol u said that is ridiculous exactly when i did when u mentioned the replacement price. That is a scam. The honestly shouldn't play ppl like that. Def not worth it. Im trying to fix a cracked acrylic purse. Its a collector's item and worth alot so i hope i can do it.

Tip. Drill a small hole (2-3mm) right at the very end of the crack before doing your repair. That prevents crack from continuing even if the glue is not perfect or comes off.
Though your repair is totally overkill, this small fix will make it last even at chock :-)

    Love your work.
    Great detail and very clear.
Looks like the Weld-on #4 bonds would have probably done the job but
clearly the material isn't all that strong. Rather than reinforce the
cracked parts you welded, I would have used the acrylic to reinforce the
drawer design itself to strengthen the weak areas of the design with
some strips in the load areas (some of your crack reinforcing will do
    this anyway which is good).
My concern is with what chemicals I want in my fridge. These are Australian brands I am going to mention, but I am sure you can get Material Data Safety info on them with some searching. Silicone based glue products I thought would be pretty inert but it seems they release a lot of acetic acid vapor which could taint the food and the stronger Sikkaflex brand and some others I was originally looking at gradually break down to release formaldehyde! - not what you want in your fridge at all!
Selleys Knead It Aqua seems to be the safest product I can find and is what I am going to test on the plastic I need to repair. It says it doesn't bond to all plastics so I might have to form end to end strips / bands of it to reinforce my door shelf that is cracking at the base so it's not going to look very pretty but will get the job done.
I am not certain, maybe a chemist can confirm, but I think most of the dangerous chemicals are released after a few days to a week or two so you probably should have allowed your drawer to vent the majority of VOC's for several day before putting him back in the fridge, maybe you did. VOC's are hard to avoid it's modern life unfortunately but I try to limit my intake of unnatural chemicals wherever I can.
    Thanks for the video.

Thank you for sharing this video, I have a coupe of the door shelves with cracks on the corners where it holds up, I wondered If I could fix it, you did well, and If you want to hide the front part where you fixed it, just stick a nice photo or picture of food on the front of the draw this will look better than the repair :0)

Well done. I just looked up replacements as my sons have caused similar damage on at least 3 drawers on 2 fridges but the cost is too much in order to buy a full replacement drawer set. I think I will just leave them but I did try black sticky tape for the plastic part they managed to tear entirely off but it came right off.

I was already a fan of this video by 2:27 -- when I had a "Doh!" moment. I just spent *31 minutes on hold* (with no answer) at the Maytag warranty tel # to try to find out what types of plastic are used in the crisper drawer and adjustable temperature drawer in my refrigerator, so I can purchase the correct adhesive for repair. I'm used to checking food and other containers before recycling, but it just didn't occur to me to look for any indicators on the plastic drawers in the refrigerator.

Still brilliant. Won't break now, is functional, and won't be seen in the fridge. As u say the replacement prices are ridiculous!

drawers in older fridges were not clear . you could paint your drawer front and make it look better . i didn't have any scraps , so used one of those clear picture frames to repair mine . the kind that are just a piece of clear (acrylic ?) material w/several bends . it was just the right width to fit from top to bottom of drawer , though thinner than what you used . my front was still solid , drawer broke in the area where front meets sides . i cut the 180 bends off ends of picture frame , straightened the remainder to 90 degrees w/heat gun , and fastened on inside of drawer . didn't have the right glue , so drilled holes w/heated (not red hot) nail slowly pushed thru , then fastened . not pretty , but functional again .

excellent video and camera work... very clear to see and unlike many who make YT videos, i particularly appreciated the child free environment (which makes me NUTS trying to watch something instructional with annoying peripheral interruptions!!). after watching your video i think i may go with very heavy duty, temperature impervious T-Rex tape (inside and out)... for a cleaner look. i'm slightly (slightly??? lol) OCD, so i'm not sure i could deal with seeing my glue drips... which i'm convinced are almost unavoidable.
i'm completely jealous of the clean cuts on your acrylic, which you mentioned were done on your laser cutter. do you have a video on that? i'd LOVE to see it. in the past i've used my Dremel and also used multiple scorings, then breaking it... but as a perfectionist, my acrylic cuts are PATHETIC compared to yours. plus.. it's almost impossible to cut small pieces as you did in making your patches. the cutting friction of the Dremel melts the acrylic and makes getting a clean finish a laborious process. i'd love to see if there is a moderately priced laser but i know nothing about them.
One final comment... it was a BRILLIANT idea to use the heat gun to custom fit the curve. i'm a very smart guy but i would NEVER have thought of using a heat gun to manipulate the surface pitch.

i'm absolutely fascinated by the laser cutter in your video link. since even a basic laser cutter can easily run $3 - $6,000, i'm completely shocked that a $400 CO2 cutter can do this (just saw the Pro-Tech 40W CO2 on sale at Walmart for $387!!!!!). Your video got almost 6,800 hits and i think it would skyrocket if you did a video on the cutter, the Metalfusion software and how you tell the CO2 the thickness or density of what you're cutting.... especially since there are zero YT videos on this cutter or topic. i think most people are convinced they couldn't afford one... and more importantly how to use it if they did buy it. Thank you for the link. Others can read the article here.. hackedgadgets.com/2011/07/28/cnc-halftone-pictures/

The drawer (crisper) won't move freely when pulled or pushed on it. What can I use to make it move more freely. I cleaned the bottom but same problem. I paid 30 bucks for the trim where the glass goes and that was used. 65 bucks for a new one. Thanks for the video.

You could have just shot the glue into the crack, and that's it. It would still show the crack, but it would not be a cosmetic disaster like how it ended up. Now that drawer can hold some really heavy potatoes or something.

Friend: I feel like I'm talking to another concentration camp fellow inmate, all victims of these greedy entities. I have the same problem with an Amana - Whirlpool - fridge's bins. Both are broken, and they want a whooping $117.00 CND each!! Check the Plastex Plastic Repair Kits, another CZcamsr is using, seemingly with excellent results. Thanks, anyway! 😢EDIT: I give you $30.00 and I pick it up. Looks good for me, pal!

Though, if you think of it economically. You spent 2days? 16hours to save 70 bucks :-) if you are unemployed its ok, but otherwise in 8-16 hours of work you would make more money than a new set of drawers. But yes there is some satisfaction in doing repairs on your own, but...
