Might be the best for riding, but one of the worst for the cost of living. I"ll take the mountains roads in the east, just lacking the seaside/cliff views. Congrats on the move, Enjoy!!!

Grew up in Santa Cruz, living in Marin now and I ride the highways around Mt. Tam, Stinson Beach, Pt Reyes and Bodega Bay all the time, they are FANTASTIC. Highway 1 from Stinson Beach to Pt. Reyes might be one of the most fun pieces of road I've ever seen. Just be careful of DEER. I had a deer jump out right in front of me on a highway around there when I was doing sixty. Shattered my collarbone into five pieces when I hit it about a year ago. So now I'm a LITTLE more hesitant, but mainly at night. During the day it is lovely. You've probably been up there but I would highly recommend it if you haven't.

I moved out there once. First to Santa Cruz then to San Jose, then to Milpitas (My spelling on that last one might be wrong). Only took me 9 months to realize that I never needed to leave Texas. Although I made and still have some very good friends out there. Why they still talk to me 30+ years later is beyond me. 🤣🤣

I live in the Bay area also (TX transplant). The one bad things about the awesome riding out here are that some of the roads need work, and sometimes there's dirt on curves that you can't see until it's too late.

Happy to see you on the road again. I kind of figured CA, but i guessed TN just because it seemed to be the more sane choice 😊 i like the Southern non coastal states from the Appalachians to the Rockies.

I'm east of you in El Dorado Hills. If you think those are nice roads, you should see what we have over here. Same county at Tahoe, you can ride all day on twisties.
