Influencer brand trips are the most out of touch thing I've ever seen. Sending already rich people on vacation while the rest of the population is struggeling to survive. I'm not buying from these brands, and neither should you.

Influencers are invested in because they have an audience and influence them into buying from brands or their competition so it makes sense that they are giving them lavish trips and gifts. The average person is not an influencer nor are they getting hundreds or thousands of people to buy products or services from companies.
To them that half a million is an investment into advertising.
It is to get all of us talking about them... all of this sucks but it is just business at the end of the day.
I mean…why enter a contest in another country if you don’t have a passport. Expediting a passport still takes a while, don’t enter something you’re not prepared for.

I think that brand trips give me an icky feeling just as much as these “influencers” PR haul videos. It gives me a “Look at what I get for free even though I can do this multiple times a year on my own dime without it causing a dent in my finances, but you aren’t worthy of it because you’re not an influencer like me.” vibe. 🤷♀️
I can't stand haul videos! I also dip out when anyone posts travel vlogs. I haven't been on vacation in years. I don't need to watch some rich person jet around Paris and unwrap their designer purchases.
So tarte can spend money on influencers but can’t seem to spend money on upping their product shade range, models of all range, genders, and sizes. That’s fine, okay, that’s a great way to watch a brand go bankrupt

Yet they aren't going bankrupt. They're a 25 year old company that is still operating today. They are still a successful company despite the lists of criteria you'd like to see. So whatever they're doing has worked for them and is still continuing to work for them.

At this point, they’re giving influencers more opportunities to go to places/trips because they think they’re “special” than everyone else.
I mean it’s the same as celebrities getting free iPads and other expensive products they can buy themselves 10 times over, just for showing up at an event. They do believe these people are better than everyone else.

I'm so sick of brand trips. Most of us are struggling just to pay rent and buy groceries and yet these brands are sending influencers on expensive trips so they can try to shove their brand and products down our throats.

I understand not being able to go to the trip to Bora Bora given it was such short notice, but why didn't they just give it to someone else? It's a giveaway not a guarantee. It might just be me but I'd make sure I have my passport before applying to it on the off chance that I would win it.

Probably because most grown adults with regular jobs (aka not influencers) aren’t able to take off to go on an international trip the next week, even if they have a passport. Say person 2 has a passport- she’ll still need to get with her work to see if they will approve her leave, and they are likely to say a week is not enough notice to prepare. Once she comes back, it’s even less time for the next person. Tarte’s marketing department is filled with adults (presumably) who know this and did not expect to have anyone other than the influencers come along.

I agree with you, Tarte’s not the brightest for doing a draw for a normal person working a 9 to 5 and only giving them a week in advance to know. Probably because they didn’t want them to go to begin with…only made them “look good” that they gave someone the opportunity.
What I don't understand is why Tarte didn't just make another run and choose someone else.
Picking customers at random to receive PR packages would be a much better way to connect with customers. People are trying to figure out how to make it from one day to the next! Bless your CUSTOMERS not the people who can afford to purchase your overpriced makeup ten times over!

Well it's a business not a charity, not defending but sending it to a random 9-5 everyday person doesn't do anything, they don't really have an audience to showcase/sponsor products, so no sales and money come back in return. Even if the brand trip is controversial it's still attention the brand gets. Do we really care for these influencers and their petty complaints? No. What about Tarte? If tarte invites smaller influencers (like less than a million combined on all platforms) to these trips, I see how tarte will help these smaller influencers to grow their audience base, yet tarte shade ranges and quality... mmmmmm... girl needs to be innovative to stay in the game
Imagine being one of the low paid employees of Tarte that gets to watch these out of touch Influencers fly off to Bora Bora on your boss's dime and the only perk you've ever gotten are free concealers every 6 to 12 months.
I think Tarte should spread out these gifts to random customers of theirs from around the world , along with their influencer trips.

I get why brands feel like brand trips are good for marketing but honestly, this is convincing me to become an influencer, not to buy their products. I wish these brands spent this money to do inclusive events like pop-up stalls and conventions or something. Consumers can try out new products and learn more about said products.
Seeing influencers lounge on a beach don't inspire me to go out and buy foundation.

If you enter a contest for a trip in another country and you don't have a passeport, it is YOUR problem! Usually the conditions state that you must have all the required papers to be able to claim your prize!

Tarte can afford these trips, but can't develop more shades for their long-haul products? In addition, as I can't use Tarte, I'd enjoy these Tarte trips and Tarte trip packages more if the ones picked were long-time, loyal customers. Repeat purchasers from their main website and those from other stores like Ulta/Sephora could submit receipts.

I am confused about this process. Do the influencers enter for a chance to win or does Tarte select random influencers (without contest entry). I’m asking because I couldn’t imagine entering for a chance to win a trip to an unknown place without a passport 😂

this is why you try to save in order to get a 10yr passport. if you never go anywhere, you still have it in case of a surprise vacay or holiday trip or work trip. you never know what’s gonna happen like the giveaway trip. you may think you won’t win but you have a passport anyway just in case. Then try to renew every 10yrs.
