  • Math centers are a very important part of the math block but you must have enough math center activities to keep your students engaged all year. The math center activities should be fairly independent and it’s ideal if they are hands-on, engaging, and self-correcting when possible.
Angie will walk you through the 5 types of math centers that first and second grade teachers should have in their classroom.

thank you this seems so ideal and engaging. I love the self check concept. I think this will add some intentional fun to my Math class especially with the board games. :)

Love the toothy center! Learning a lot from your videos. Second year teacher here starting second grade this year after having done third last year. I wanted to ask you a silly question: I’m in a bilingual classroom so I have students grouped in tables of 4 and was wondering if the norm is to essentially make 4 copies of each activity before the school year starts? The only reason I ask is because I’ve seen other teachers say you only make 1 of each and have them work together but in my student teaching experience the teacher has 4 students at each table and they each had their own copy of the activity and worked independently. Thanks for your help!
