DW boards are definitely a light wind cheat code and surprisingly more fun to ride that wide boards because you can see the water and your foil
I see DW boards creating a new direction for winging. Please do another video after you get used to the board. Maybe in less choppy conditions. Light wind as well as higher wind.
Yep agree and planning on a follow up video. We wanted to record a proper first session with no filter and no experience so we could see if it actually worked which it did. Few more sessions and should be able to get the technique right for getting going.

Matt, will you be testing this as a prone surf or sup surf board?
for a winger, it's hard to see the advantage unless I'm going for a long downwind depowered. Otherwise, perhaps use a huge 8m wing and a large HA foil, no?
I’ve had a few wing sessions on my 6’3” 85L DW board to my 65kgs (60L FG is my daily driver). For me I’ll be using the FG board on most days when the wind is up/down and below 17knts on the gusts. It is just so freaking easy to get on foil with this board. I’ll also be using it on days with more current and where getting on foil is paramount (DW sea breeze runs, friendly races). I’m also trying to get into DW Sup, which is the main reason I got it. I’ll be using it in the surf SUP too, so lots of use cases for me!
I agree. I was impatient and went the Dagger route and it is fun for light wind winging. These boards ride smaller than they look as the nose and tail swing weight is well balanced. Touch downs are not speed killers due to narrow width. Love it, can’t wait for future DW missions

@@mcplaayer Sorry, I’ll be using the DW in a lot of conditions winging sub 17knts, especially if focusing on riding bumps/swells.
It all depends on what type of winger you are. The high-performance rippers will probably want to keep their short boards. More casual riders who mostly mow the lawn and catch a few bumps will appreciate a board that gets up on foil easier. DW boards also slog better when hunting gusts and paddle back to shore faster when the wind dies. I ride a 6'1 x 23" 105L DW board and love it in light wind as well as high wind. I'm also learning to SUP foil it.

Yes the 795 Performance mast is what I have been kiting, winging and prone. The good guys at DW say that it is the magic size. I really like this size as it doesn't get turning lag like longer masts, gets on foil easily, still pumps easily and you can use it in the shallower waters of the Pamlico Sound.

Yeah I think so. I might struggle a touch on the sup downwind but should be stable enough to get it. Paddling into small not breaking waves, dw swells, and light wind winging this is the right size.
I figured out what I'm doing wrong........no cheesy elevator music in the background !!!!

Yes. Been using it prone a couple of times and will put out an edit some time soon. Short story is that you catch waves that haven't broken and pumping is harder than my 4'5 FG but still doable.
