- This is the first part of a video series on learning how to downwind SUP Foiling. We are learning how to stand on the board and explore the difficulties on getting started. At the end we have a bit of success with the help of tiny waves.

Great video. I think it’s super important to cover these sports from an honest beginners perspective … I appreciate your efforts to do that.
Thank you so much for the validation. That is exactly what I want to do. We all watch pros doing crazy stuff and no one talks about how it really is. Today I will try my first downwinder for the next video.
That's gold man..thanks for sharing .I have had 1 session on my 7'7 and absolutely stoked on this board🤙
Thanks for watching I am happy you like it. I am doing OK myself but I have not gotten this thin up in flat water yet. The saga will continue.
go get it!! can't wait to watch your progress!!
Thank you so much. Definitely continue to pursuit. Right now busy with M2O and paddleIMUA.
Great video, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! Pumpfoiling is so cool
Great Vid. I just got humbled myself this past weekend. I weight about 85kg and bought a 7'4 120L Starboard Ace (21.5 wide). Took it out in the bay. Standing on it alone was super challanging. By the end (maybe 30 minutes) i was able to just paddle about 25-50 yards at a time. Very difficult to balance. How long did it take you to be able to just paddle it? A lot harder than I thought it would be actually :(
Yeah. Totally humbling. Best is if you can trail along waves that keeps the board more straight and paddle technique with a reverse J stroke. And … spend lots of time with it.
👏🏻
Would be interesting to track your Heart Rate as well to see what Cardio Fitenss is necessary for Flat Water Pump Up, Wave Riding, Downwinders. Will be watching your Progress!
Thank you very much. I can assure you my heart rate is way up there. 😆 Def. not 20 anymore…
Hey Great Video Format, really enjoying the learning experience POV.
I Enjoy your content but it needs some improvement to gain more traction
Some quick advice for your videos, might help you get more views:
1 - It appears as your microphone has issue capturing the sound range, making the video sound "corny" especially during the beach explanation part.
Is the microphone perhaps on a way to sensitive setting or are you talking a bit loudly 😅?
2 - Perhaps use a tripod for most of the filming (on the beach as well), as the shaky cam is not satisfying to watch.
3 - Perhaps look into improving your thumbnail image. The text is hard to read on the image background. If you want to see a good example of thumbnail, look at Hadou brunner's videos thumbnails.
4 - try to structure your videos a bit better. You circled back to "back to beginner mode" with using big foil quite often.
Hi thanks for watching and input sounds like you know a thing or two on these things. Yes I am not too professional yet. It’s all just me shooting away and yapping away. I wish I could do this full time it’s fun, but already time consuming even I am very rudimentary.
@standupmagazine I love it when you're just yapping away screaming into the mic and camera. It's different and entertaining and definitely you! Don't change a thing!😅
Hey Man! Greetings from Gernany and thank you for sharing your experience! I am min the same situation as you are. Mid age, 75kg, more or less experienced with Sup etc. I was thinking of starting with the 7,2 as i also want to Wing it. Looking back is it an option or would you always start on the 7,7 board?
looking forward to!
cheers 🤙🏾
Thanks for watching my videos. I chose the 7’7” because of its width. I am mainly looking to DW Foil. I think if your mainly wing you can go smaller. 121L is a bit overkill for winging I think but SUP foil DW it’s perfect for me.
I am also trying to learn SUP foiling but on a much wider board (Gong Zuma 120L, 6'6). Still feels really wobbly. What foil size did you use?
Thank you for watching! I used an Armstrong 1850 cm2 for my front wing in flat water, and an 1550 cm2 (also front wing) in small waves. I wish you all the best on your foil journey!
👍🍺
riiss eifach was vom chläber abe und lueg wod position söt sii, in mehrere versuech wirsches usefinde (häsch ja no chläbflächi übrig)
Ah super messi. D' Skala under em board isch au guet. Mitti sötti hiichoo...
