    I was having problem with hard starts directly after fueling and it was driving me crazy. I am not a mechanic, just poor and making a more dedicated effort at doing my own maintenance of late. Replaced the fuel filter at the suggestion of a local guy and the problem remained, After research this part appeared the likely culprit which brought me to this video. It took me way longer than you to get er done, but I got it handled. Doing my own maintenance gives me a tremendous sense of pride, so thanks so much for this video.

    Great video. My F150 would have trouble starting immediately after getting fuel and sometimes would die while idiling at a low rpm. I confirmed it was faulty after removing it and being able to blow air through it. While the motorcraft OEM valve is around $40, O'Reilly Auto sells one for $22 with a lifetime warranty and no discernible difference from OEM.

      Looks like you have an issue with the vent side of the system. You may have a bad vent valve, not the valve shown in video, or possibly a clog in the system. Of course other things could be at play. Sorry I don’t have a video on how to diagnose this.

    I'm a member of a f150 group on Facebook and someone made a post about their miles till Empty can say 100 miles and then they drive 3 miles down the road it will then say 30 miles and then they drive back home and it will say something completely off again. Was told the purge valve was the reason. Is that a known issue with a bad purge valve?
    Awesome video and very informative definitly got another subscriber!

    • @BarboursAutoHelp

      I wouldn’t think a purge valve would cause this. I wonder if they are just driving the vehicle more aggressively. This will cause that to change

    I have a curious problem. I have a 2010 ford f150 4.6L. I noticed a gas smell in the cabin 2 days ago. Yesterday I was backing into my parking space and noticed something on the ground. It was the connector to this evap line with about 3" inches of line and a clean cut/break. It's the part with the tangs and tab you disconnected in this video. As far as I can tell this is the same type of connector on the front and rear of the line where the canister is.
    My problem is that both those locations still have the connector and line in place and I cannot find any unconnected lines anywhere in this system or the rest of the truck. I don't know if this actually belongs on my truck, or if it belongs to someone else's vehicle. Again, I am still detecting a faint gasoline smell, but I cannot find anywhere it is leaking.
    There has been an increase in vehicle vandalism in the area and I've heard that people are now starting to steal gas. I'm wondering if this is a part a thief might try to use to aid in a siphon operation or something. I don't have any decrease in gas, or vehicle performance, or any other signs of failure.
    The whole thing is bizare. I'm going to give it a week and go to a mechanic if I can't figure it out.

      Please help me. Thank you

    • @BarboursAutoHelp
      @BarboursAutoHelp  Před 5 měsíci

      @@grlove32 P0443 is a circuit code. There may be an open/short/ high resistance in the circuits from the PCM to the valve. Could also be a problem with the PCM or purge valve. I don't think that this would cause the vehicle to run badly though. If you have already replaced the valve and the connector, and you had this code before, then you may have a bad PCM or circuit. However, I'd say you don't want to be wrong about that so It may be best and cheaper to have a tech diagnose it for you to ensure you are replacing the correct part. Hope this helps. By the way, did you erase the code after you replaced the valve and connector? Because if not the code will remain until the PCM recognizes that the problem is no longer present and that could take some time. So, if you haven't erased the code it's possible that you have already fixed the code P0443 but the PCM hasn't completed the monitor on that system. I really don't think the issue with the P0443 is causing your vehicle to run roughly though.
