    The painting process is infinite. I like to try many approaches to develop a painting; here I copied a 19th Century painting with a two layer process. Then I applied the same system to a painting of my wife.

    That time lapse was really informative how you did the dark tones first then the light tones and then blended them together. Makes it look so simple.

    • @blackcat138
      @blackcat138 Před 5 lety

      @@sizah185 yes. For me I think that he explained the painting part better than in the previous portrait DVD. His pallet was messy/dirty before but in this DVD it's clean new pallet and so less confusion.

    • @sizah185
      @sizah185 Před 5 lety

      @@blackcat138 Thanks for replying. That was pretty helpful, I was on the fence about getting that DVD, partly because I have the portrait one. I think I'll get the drawing one next and then the figure painting. 1 last question, how did you find the drawing dvd?

    • @blackcat138
      @blackcat138 Před 5 lety

      @@sizah185 it was ok, but the figure painting is what I'd get first before figure drawing or skip the drawing DVD all together because drawing is about lines and values only, I know it's important but it was so long, boring and repetitive , besides its something you have to learn on your own no matter what. while painting is something you might learn and enjoy by watching and taking notes.

    drear Master, I read that oil painting can burn canvas or paper if they aren't protected by gesso or something like that. Do you use a special preparation to protect the sheets of your sketchbook ? Thank you and BRAVO for your art. It's always amazing to watch you paint, both classical copy and personnal portrait. Here, in France, it's really hard to have instructions on academic art, and It's good to know there is people around here who deserve himself to keep this knowledge alive.

    Seriously love watching these man! Well put together. Totally going start up a sketch up with some paintings in it! Never thought of that! Also gonna challenge my self to give Oil again this year. I normally tend to do better with acrylics haha. I always keep forgetting how many we can always do over and over each time if one doesn’t work well!
