In this video I will take you through the beginning process of an oil painting; from my preparation of the canvas to the experimental linear composition to the finished underpainting, and all the process in between.
It is important to have a strong beginning in whatever you do in life.

Please show us more of working on this painting. I enjoy watching your process. This is the only art school I can afford. Thank you for your teaching and passion.
You’ll always be an amazing artist because of your inspiring words and the way you simplify and share everything with the audience it’s beautiful, thank you.

Beautiful work. I learn so much watching these.
so beautiful artwork
Very happy to see how you are developing as an artist and using the technique to now tell stories.
Another great video. I dig the way you break down the process into stages and layers. I struggle with direct alla prima and much prefer to work this way. Looking forward to seeing the finish piece.
I love learning off other artists, thank you
U are a living inspiration ❤️
So great love all you do 🌟👩🏻🎨 work on my Journey . So great work this , wow

Love your art!
Merci César pour ces bons conseils,
thank you for share this video!
This is amezing very best teacher. Thank Santos.
Great music in video and great video too.
Very very impressive, Bien hecho. Thank you for this awesome tutorial. My favorite painter is Goya
Wow. You are amazing.
Nunca habia visto pintar restregando el pincel en vez de a pinceladas. Interesante metodo. Muy bonito el resultado.
I never seen painting by rubbing the brush against the canvas instead of by brush strokes. Very interesting method. Very nice results.
LOVE FROM IRELAND CESAR
Cesar is best...
Just came from church and i watched this video. Conclusion? God is great!
Thanks for the tips sir 😊
You're one of the best artists I admired. Keep it up Sir! :-)
I get a stretcher frame and then glue a piece of hardboard to it. Then I stretch the canvas over that. No more canvas wobble or lines from the central support.
Please explain, I’m a soft pastelist and I have that problem because I use my hands
Nice work!
Very nice beautiful and simple 🙂 art painting,,,sir ,,,
you are a legend
This is very impressive, thank you for this videos. I just discovered you via the art renewal center and am amazed
Nice work sir
First view, First like, first comment,
I admire the composition and the softness in the gesture and the fabric. I would love to learn more from you how to get rid of the stiffness in the postures which I not only find in my own but in most drawings online all the time.
Maybe because we feel stiff as well, if we learn to flow better in real life we might flow in drawing.
Sometimes, we over think things.
Wooow
Great work sir love from India🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳 🥰🥰🙏❤❤❤
subscribed!!!
little like Pietro Annigoni , very nice I like this
Nice work. It is smart! Remember me the old Renaissance masters. I have a question. In the first layer, for preparing the fabric-canvas, I have seen that the consistency was thick. Is it because you are using lime in the mixture like the old maters from Renaissance and Baroque? Thank you. I’ m sorry for my english. Regards from Spain.
Какой классный.
hello cesar, great work, how is the basis of your preparation of the fabrics, what materials do they consist of, greetings from argentina.
Love just about every painting you've done. I'm curious how you would develop this painting beyond what you have shown in this video. The reason is that the atmosphere in contrast to her left ear seems to funnel upward. Was that intentional?
❤
What medium you use to thin the paint and how much for the underpainting paint? I would be very grateful to get an answer
Please tell me about the angled mop you toned the canvas with. I liked the idea of beginning the painterly textures and strokes even at that early point. I always learn something from you, sometimes it is even about painting but often it is about life itself. Which is the language of art. Hope all is well.
you always painting beautiful woman, wery strongly your this art
Great video (as usual) and also good music - who are the musicians, do you know?
Just wondering, do you glue your canvases to a panel after or stretch them? When you stick them to the wall, so you iron or stretch them before or just smooth out and stick with tape ? I was hoping to use a wall in the way you have shown
I was taught to do the underpainting in one color usually in like Burnt Sienna. What is the difference of adding white like this to the underpainting? Did old masters add white like this?
Ok :)
It's Galetea!
I want to aks that gesso is also applied of canvas for oil painting???
Is the tornado supposed to look like it's either going in to or out of her ear?
I always get confused as to when to add a medium. Not many artists share that. This is important because the first time I did am oil painting, I used so much oil on all the layers it took a year to gully dry lol. If not more.
Buenisimo como se puede oir en castellano para la audiencia suramericana
Heyyyy Santos
Your Style changed, is this the Italien influence?
Definitely, we are always influenced by the environment.
What size your canvas board or paper board ,?
Hiiii
I was wondering, among others,
beside raw umber, what is in that first mixture?
Thanks in advance from Israel.
Indian yellow
@@santocesart no solvent or something? It doesn't look like pure paint
Hey Cesar, what kind of brush is that @1:00 ?? I could really use one of those!!
Got it at the hardware store, for house painting
What drawing pen are you using? Is it an oil pen?
Suffered a bit through that background music
Traduz seus vídeos irmão, somos carentes de vídeos de arte em português
Won't the pen marks bleed through all the paint layers and become visible?
That would be cool!
@@santocesart Have you always used the pen for paintings or only recently?
@@santocesart I you messed up your lines, no it won't be cool at all😜
Rarely does anyone use raw umber as much as you, one of your favorites ... What do you use to speed up the paint drying process?
Raw umber... it's a fast drying color that's why I like it 😅
@@santocesart I expected such an answer 😅... but I meant the medium...
@@jakovj.m.5322 liquin!
Things is, it craks when dried. Am I doing something wrong, should I be adding a medium to prevent that.
@@michaelangelo5580 if you paint in layers, try the first layer to be as thin as possible and with as little oil in it, apply the second layer when you are sure that the first layer is dry enough ...
Si esta pintura monocromática da la impresión de una pintura impresionista que será cuándo Santos aplique el color.
ahhh I see in hair girl on the left side.... your face :-) Congratulations
Her left side ;-)
Hi sir , good evening you. What topic now?
OWOOOOOOoooooo
Hm ... I kind like the three elements of
nature placed commonly in diagonal and
use of two third of the panel, creating
negative space. 1 2 3 ...
A painting needs no explanation.
Oky ,,I good idea artwork painting,,now. ,,,,my time. Oky that's your , teknik artwork painting 🖌️🎨🎨🎨
Cesar, I love and admire your work. I am very grateful to you for sharing your knowledge, but this particular composition with a tornado coming out of her ear I find unusually weak. I'm sorry.
Drawing used to be a civilized thing to do, like reading and writing. It was taught in elementary schools. It was democratic. It was a boon to happiness
nice but the toenado coming out of her ear is not so brilliant
What in the world even was that little elbow hog hair round? Did you make that or something? If not, what is it called and why, for the love of all the patron saints, would one need to use it?
