Hasbro is a good example of what GW might be trying to do in the future. The difference is that Hasbro didn't nuke thier IP before trying to liscence it out...
They are pulling a Hasbro, I got another vid that mentions this point. Thing is Hasbro has not helped with some of their IPs, see GI Joe for one. Still in my previous vid, the primaris effect I went over some of that. And of course its a good point to make.

Love the topic. I'm leaving 40K after 25 years and tens of thousands of dollars and God knows how many hours painting. I'm looking at Mantic & Privateer Press. Don't like the metal models for Infinity, but when they go plastic...
On Infinity, I heard they were trying out solcast might not be the right name for it. So I've kept my eye on them for the time being. I'd even suggest checking out Xenos Rampant, its a use whatever miniatures you want game.
They've gone to thermoplastic, for some miniatures. I'd rather the metal ones.
The plastic is extremely soft, flexible, and extremely weak. Almost brittle, even.
Try out Deadzone from Mantic for an excellent skirmish game. Highly recommend it.
And the 3.3 rules for One Page Rules: Grimdark Future dropped yesterday. Very smooth way to keep playing big battles.

Another great alternative game is Vindictive The Game. Really cool IP and similar gameplay to Warhammer 40k.
Buddy of mine (Admech) and myself (Votann) are moving over to One Page Rules! So glad you brought them up. We both have 3d printers so the Stls they offer will hopefully cut down on my spending 😅

Speaking on paints (as a customer and not paid in any way).
A few years back I had an issue with Vallejo paints. It was 100% my fault and I was looking for a solution. I emailed their customer service with a question, and I got an email back from the company's VP. He asked me what I needed/wanted and I told him about the issue. A few weeks later the company sent me a fix for my problem at no cost to me. They even helped me more than i asked for.
I know this is vague as all hell, but I'm not trying to get them inundated with "begs". I'm just saying as a customer and a hobbyist, Vallejo seems to be a brand that cares about us.
Vallejo in my experience has been very good with customers. I'm sure there are some who have had a bad time but, they do try. Glad they did right by you!

@@mrnobodypresents1349 My main armies are going to be T'au, Necrons, Aeldari and Dark Angels.
My other armies will probably be smaller and maybe not even 2k points for all of them, but I'll be making Astra Militarum, Custodes, TSons and I'm considering World Eaters, CSM, Death Guard, Tyranids, Orks and Votann.
Also if admech gets good rules in the next dataslate thing, I'll probably go for Admech.
Plus if one of my friends want to play an army, I might prioritize those.

I lost 2000 points of beastmen this month. Basically paperweights since Old World is dead in my city. Packed my bags, moved to Saga, One Page Rules, and a ton of other mini agnostic games
It was a dirty move by GW, I can relate since they effectively wiped out my army. Still I think its grand a number of other rules/editions keep these armies in the fight.

I've enough models that I can just focus on painting for at least 3 years. Once I've worked through my pile of shame, I'm going to pick up a 3d printer.
Sounds like a healthy hobby choice to me and a smart move. Which is largely my focus, I just want to help inform or at least make aware of the many options. Thanks for the comment!!

Khan on bike dang it! To be honest, I get the feeling they'll actually cull more lines. Ditch stuff thats old-ish least 3 years old then make new stuff. Still having a sense of humor about all this is very good!
Been watching 40K content lately, so it makes sense why this video was recommended. I liked the beginning of the video, so I decided to see what other content you had. My surprise when I saw GBO2, can't say I subscribe to anyone posting content on that (don't really know why, I pretty much do all the dailies, and more sometimes). But I'm now subscribed.
As for the part pertaining to the video, I don't know most people's stances on the topic, but most of my new army is 3rd party resin (I haven't played in years, but decided to get back into it). I do have some actual GW models, but the majority is resin. I'm not saying everyone should buy 3rd party resin casts off of reseller sites, but it is an option. I personally don't feel too bad about it considering GW's monopoly on the game, and the recent axing of some factions and whatnot.

Thanks! Wanted to start doing some hobby related stuff for a bit but, have done so just recently. I've been a fan of battletech, 40k, Gundam, and other things for awhile.
If my math is right GW prices are about a decade ahead of inflation. The landraider is a good example, its price has continued to spiral up despite having paid the molds off decades ago. So honestly I don't see an issue with 3d printing and if GW was smart they'd have gotten into the STL or licensing to printers game.
Hopefully the content proves worthy of your subscription.
OPR: go full rulebook(s) and try adding the extra rules and total conversion that just sound good to you; extra actions, brutal damage, suppression (my favorite!), command points, etc. go with any or just a few. The game stays easier and faster than some of the "big titles", feels more fun, realistic (yeah, even if sci-fi or fantasy) and requires actual skill on the field rather than just list optimizing.
And in the span of one game of the aforementioned titles, you can cram two to three games of OPR, working through a campaign like a breeze. You lose because the dice gods mock you? Have a laugh and play another round, you have time!
Didn't play a game of 10th ed, left 9th in the dust after just a few months, and stayed off all the faction books (EH ;-) ) drama.
Wargames Atlantic minis are excellent, and I recommend their ranges for any setting. Bits for ages, and almost everything is cross-compatible, kitbash heaven Only drawback most of the sculpts have puddles connecting the feet, something that I don't really like... oh well.
The new, expanded Vallejo XPress range is excellent. Can't wait to try the Army Painter recent formulas.
The amount of heads in the Wargames Atlantic kits is crazy! Their kits have a great deal of kitbashing potental like the Stargrave/Frostgrave kits. Which is awesome!
Right now I'm having a devil of a time getting my hands on Xpress to try it out. My local FLGS dumped GW after the launch of 10th, since they got screw on boxes. So I've been as the local wargaming heretic been asked a great deal on 'what else is there' much to my delight.
As a whole its a wonderful hobby with a ton of options. Many of which I think are simply better or more suited to folks looking for different experiences. And I don't play ya on avoiding the Drama, I just don't like seeing people attacked for caring is all.

GF and GFF are to me OPR at its best, and whil AoF and AoFS are... serviceable rulesets, they both kinda lack the "spark" to make them stand out better. Warfleets is growing on me fast, though.
Regiments and the formations/trays style of gaming is not really my cup of tea, but I absolutely love Sludge War by Relicblade's own Sean Sutter, which solves the tray issue with multibasing. And it's kitbash heaven with all those Wargames Atlantic and Victrix Miniatures (another great brand) kits to plunder for heads, weapons, different bodies... Napoleonics Hussars light cavalry with Saxon full helmets, WW1 carbines, Stielhand grenades and gasmask canisters? Chainmail Vikings infantry squads with tricorn hats, Confederates rifles and a Lewis light machine gun? Hell yes!
OPR is truly my go-to anymore. Free army builder and army creator. I made COBRAAAAA from G.I.JOE. there's enough minis to make that happen to 3D print. If you don't print, you should. There's nothing like printing a Baneblade for about 5 bucks!
i have played gw games since 1981. not anymore….. lost the drive over the editions. have a shop full of things. … … … like opr, but there are a bunch of games from nordic weasel games. Love them too.😊 play booth. have fun. 😊

Highly recommend Bolt Action and Kings Of War gaming systems, both Warlord Games and Mantic are LOT cheaper than GW and younger more minis for your money. Also Ramshackle Games and Knuckle bones miniatures do really cool sculpts for fans of 'grim dark' sci fi.
Those are good ones to bring up and likely I'll attempt to touch on them. I was thinking about even mentioning Borrows & Badgers as a good option for some. Heard that its a good couples type game to get casuals into.
Picked up a Firefight Starter to see how I like it. Alternating Activation makes me happy!

I really think we should draw a line in the sand with the boycott, when space Marine 2 comes out i really think that'll send a message to games workshop
If you want to affect GW, its their own products (The books, minis, paints) that should be the focus. You have to remember Sabertooh had to pay GW to license for that game. So its likely best to focus on what GW actually makes themselves, and ones folks can get from other companies.

I’m going to finish my Death Guard and 3 Necromunda gangs (not buying anything direct from GW) and then I’m done. I have older rules from 5th edition to now, codex’s, etc… I’m already looking into OPR and I like what I see.
Also looking into 3D printing, and I’m designing 3 different skirmish game rules as well.
Just got one of the old metal Death Guard and I need to finish my small army up as well. I would encourage a good core of a few systems rules wise, just to change things up from time to time. So you got that covered already!

Hoplite Games Studio looks like they make some pretty good "not warhammer" models. And good price. Havnt got any yet but ill be ordering soon

@@mrnobodypresents1349 what i love most is they have all the imperial guard factions. Krieg/steel legion (similar enough), catachans, mordians, valhallans, etc. can finally put together a krieg army lol
They got a good bundle on something close to death korps of Krieg as well

From what I hear from Discourse Minis, their full tournament rules are locked behind a subscription service.
@@kingnothing5706 I believe the rules are actually free on the app, and a paid subscription gives extras like extended army lists, extended lore on the universe, etc... :)

One thing I wanted to touch on was 3d artists and companies. However I was worried about bringing them the 'wrong' type of attention. Maybe that'll be this weeks hobby vid, can you think of any other 3d companies/artists that wouldn't get hurt by highlighting them? Tortuga of course is one.
You start off the bat being disingenious. GW has had price hikes for years and no one is accusing anybody of being a bigot for quiting them on that account. It's about quiting GW because there are now Custodes with boobs that people are rightfully being called bigots about.
Sorry you feel that way, however I doubt you know me personally. While I may disagree with their lying to folks about the change in lore can you really prove why I quite? Or why others decided it was the time to find other options?
For one I have complained about GW's pricing for the last twenty five years. Wasn't thrilled when GW altered the Necron and recall the shift in Ork design. However I doubt you care or know any of that, regardless I hope you have a lovely day.

You alluded to the ongoing custodes controversy but implied it wasn't about misogyny even though it clearly is. It's completely unrelated to the GW pricing issue which as you pointed out has been a thing for years. The Custodes issue is merely a few weeks old and has completely consumed the community. That is why I called you out for being disingenuous.
