I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!

I'm 29 and been golfing casually for the last 10 years. I've never had lessons or anything like that and I've always picked up on new things fairly easy. Golfing has been my biggest challenge though. There are times where I have such amazing days on the course, but I really don't know why or what I did to achieve these results. The next time I would go out and golf and thought I was doing everything the same, the results varied so drastically and I was never consistent. This week I had one of the worst days on the course with my driver ever and I ended up teeing off with my 4 or 5 iron. Because of how bad that day was, I decided to take to CZcams for some tips and you came up. I've watched a bunch of your videos about how to approach the ball, how to grip the club, posture, etc. It all makes sense, and I feel like it will allow me to be much more consistent. I haven't been able to take any of these tips to the driving range yet, I will in 2 days, but I'm super excited to actually step up to the ball with a plan instead of just mindlessly hitting it without really having any type of setup/checklist. Thanks for all the dedication you put into these videos.

I get it....I used to have days like that, but Rick made a similar video a while back, and the biggest take away from that was ball position and hitting up on the ball.
      Don't forget the hip rotation.👍👍

Fellow 29 year old here. I also feel that way. I was a pretty solid multi sport athlete and I pick up most sports and body movements easily. I recently hit 53 on a back 9 and that has been my best round (just started the first week in june) can’t wait to use Ricks videos in the future! Good luck! And hope you grow as well!

Just watched the video, went to the course to give it a try. Well, I’m 74 and usually post a 45 for 9, bogey golf. Today, I use a persimmon 4 wood of the tee, the ball flew high, straight, and long! I got a birdie, a par and 7 bogeys,,, 42! 8 out of 9 fairways. Thanks Rick! And by the way I watched an older one of your videos and switched to the Taylor Made TP5 ball, made a difference.

I just picked up golf again at the tail end of COVID after 20 years. I picked up a cheap package set and took it for a spin. I went to the range and obviously, I had no clue what I was doing. I couldn't hit my driver to save my life. The hits were so inconsistent that I took the club out of my bag entirely and borrowed an old draw face from a friend. At the end of my first season, I was hitting around 100 at my local course. Its a fairly challenging course too. The first challenge I had was eliminating my slice. Done. Then, distance. These videos helped fix that too. I went from 220 with a 15* slice to pushing 290 on a slight draw (The new fitted Stealth driver might have helped a bit with the distance). With the help I've gotten from these videos on my Drives, my irons, and my putting, Rick, you've helped me shave 20 strokes off my game in less than a year. I started the season at 105 from the whites. My last round of the season was an 85 from the blues. Thanks so much Rick, your videos have helped my game immensely.
If you could do a new video for putting and bunker shots, I might actually break 80 next year.
    Thanks again.

Long time watcher, first time commenter. I have been struggling with driver this year. Played 18 holes tonight and took driver on 10 of them. Watched this last night and gave it a try. The lining up and then pivoting/moving of my left foot slightly as indicated in your video has hands down had a great impact.
7/10 drives went 25 yards further and only had a minor 5-10 yard fade as opposed to a power fade/slice.
Will keep at this but this is the first bit of advice in a long time that’s had an immediate impact.
I also took the same set up for my 3 wood and hybrid but took the left foot and extra half step for each. 3 wood needs more investigation but I was absolutely flushing my hybrid almost arrow straight.
    Cheers Rick 👍🏻

I can't help but think, easier said than done. One thing about CZcams videos is that you can get a concept to take to the range but it's hard to teach yourself with a youtube video. One day I feel like I am doing these things.. then the next day it feels the same but it isn't working. I am slowly coming to the conclusion that lessons are the only way to really get better.. Have someone who knows and can recognise your mistakes and help you correct them. I watch all kinds of videos from Rick and Pete and Matt and Mark and Grant and James and I can go on and on... Without someone recognising you aren't doing what you think or feel like you are, it's very hard to make changes. I won't say some videos can't help. Chipping videos are often very helpful but that's because there is a much shorter and slower swing involved. Trying to learn to hit driver on your own is hard. I honestly have so many things I am trying to think about that it's hard to get them all right and one thing can derail a good swing.. Weight, balance, take away, hip turn, knee bend, level, grip, ball position, body tilt... My brain hurts thinking about all the things you gotta get right for even these three things to work correctly... :(

    • @stanmorgan4628
      @stanmorgan4628 Před 2 lety

You probably own a cell phone. Video yourself to see if what you feel you are doing is really what your doing. The two are often not the same. No other club requires more trust than the driver. It's the longest swing, turning your back away from the target the farthest, and tempo is everything. Study the pro's and compare what your doing from the video you take of yourself to their swings.

For a tilt drill, I hit shots keying on my head staying back thru impact. I found maintaining awareness of my head position in space easier to do then focusing on tilt per se. It really helps having the head as a point of resistance to hit against coming down.

I was a terrible slicer for a long long time. The correction was to approach the driver with the thought in my head to swing UP on the ball. I'm trying to launch it into the air not slap down on it like an iron. This thought alone has made a world of difference. You will naturally tilt and be long in the drive swing with this key point being your main thought in the swing. It helped me considerably and I am much more consistent. A bad miss on the driver doesn't spiral off into oblivion, now it's just a miss to the right of the fairway. I learned this from an earlier video of Rick's and now this video helps remind me further to always be thinking about coming through the drive with an upward hit at impact.

I was hitting down on the ball with the big stick, only getting about 320 with roll out - but after taking Rick's tips to heart, I am now flying it around 360+ (into the wind of course).
OMG! If I had a nickel for every comment bragging about 280 to 300 yard drives, and they could ACTUALLY get it out there anywhere near that far (excluding the one downwind/downhill that hit the cart path), I might have a nickel! Rick is a pro who hits it around 280 on a good day. Most amateurs' drives are nowhere near that length - 220 to 240 is more like it, while 250 is a much more realistic goal for the average golfer. Unless the ball is struck the middle of the clubface with consistency, and that golfer has ball speeds of at least 170 mph, 300 yard drives are a fantasy.

Thanks for a very good video. I've been playing golf for just over 2 years and have managed to get my handicap down from 25 to 20. The best thing to get extra distance is to absolutely clatter the ball as hard as possible and most of the time it will go in the right direction. If it is going all over the place then you're probably doing something else wrong. Good luck. Johnny Muscles.

  • @cricketpages8628
    @cricketpages8628 Před 2 lety

Perfect timing for this video because I put my driver back in the bag yesterday evening but after an awful range session I was about to take it straight out again.
Anyhow spurred on by your video, I went back down to the range tonight but it was super busy so had to go outside (where there are no autotees) and just used a tall rubber tee off an old practice mat and followed your routine. The difference this evening was incredible and left the range absolutely buzzing (never hit the driver so consistently straight and long before) but having to use that rubber tee also made me realise something I have been doing wrong and that is not setting ball up high enough.
The autotees on my range don't get the ball high enough and last night I was often hitting the mat just before the ball even on the highest setting. In contrast I probably had that happen only 5 times out of 75 balls tonight.

I have a great coach. He has taught me golf through understanding what we are trying to do with our body and an understanding about how the body works.
Quite simply, you are rotating around your front leg because you have to rotate around something otherwise you keep going in circles.
Even just keeping your front foot static through your swing forces you to rotate around it and fixes slices.
Next up- you have to finish the rotation around your front foot so take the club over shoulder and get into final position. If you can manage to keep the front foot static and stand in perfect balance in the end position, you will always hit straight.
To avoid hitting the ball behind, do a drill where you hit shots only on one/front foot. This will build muscle memory of weight transfer. It will also help with balance in end position.
Lastly, you are rotating on the front foot and when you rotate, you rotate sideways so your body doesn’t move forward in its stance however your weight is almost entirely on the front foot, if you fall back you will hit behind. Imagine you are on the edge of a cliff.
Rick also mentions keeping the ball forward which is basically getting it on the upswing as much as possible. This is why higher loft is better for average golfers because you need a lot of swing speed to get it up with lower loft but the idea is definitely to give it air time.

I’ve just played my third round using the setup you described. I can tell you I am hitting it straighter, longer and I am more consistent. My friends are amazed how far I am hitting the ball. I was a mid 90s player. Now I’m hitting mid to low 80s

I use to hold my weight on the back so much that I would end up with a bad duck hook. Once I learned how to not only stay behind the ball, but the art of delaying the move and shifting the weight at the end.. then I was golden. Straight bombs 280 plus and that's not even swinging my hardest. Great refresher Rick!

For anyone incorporating these excellent tips yet still slicing the ball (like I was), pay close attention to your hips on your backswing. It wasn't until I recorded my swing that I realized I was shifting my hips and upper body too much to the right during the backswing....so on the downswing my face would be too open at impact. Focus on the hip twist...don't shift...and you'll hit straight on or sometimes even a draw. Thanks, Rick.

Great vid, Rick, and these tips along with almost the same ones from your vid on how not to pop up the driver (wider stance etc) have helped me considerably. Occasionally though, using these tips I produce a low screamer dead left. What could be causing this? Am I likely tilting too far back at address or something else?
