My mom made me go to church every Sunday until I turned 18. Once I had the choice, I stopped going for just 2 months. It wasn’t that I didn’t have a connection with God or that something was wrong, I just needed space and freedom to choose God for myself instead of God being mandatory because of my mom.
"Sexy" is something that anyone can try to imitate by the clothing they wear or the way they walk. However, "beauty" would be a great word for this title. "Does beauty take you further in your career regardless of your education ?" The answer is yes.
Jeannie looks so gooooood, the makeup! And Garcelle too I’m that color! This is a great topic because I think sometimes about how I could be a good parent if I had kids. I’m not the type to force and pressure a kid however I like the idea of them learning Spanish for instance, maybe piano or sports, art etc. Just being active and learning. And as someone who knows what it’s like to want to quit things just out of laziness or mainly shyness, or it being hard, I would have to make sure my child wasn’t just wanting to do nothing because of those hang ups

Too many people still have the logic that the persons who's all put together has to put more time into their looks instead of time into their studies and that's such a bullshit theory. There's so many girls who can look like Miss Universe after 10 minutes in the bathroom AND put all their brains towards studying. Instead of looking down on people with looks, how about we start saying "wow, not only can they put the time and effort into presenting themselves in their best light but also towards their studies." The conversation about education showed how privileged these ladies are. Entrepreneurship sounds great but most small businesses fail. On average graduates still earn more than non graduates. The only thing is to make sure to keep debt low.
Privileged?? All of these ladies came from nothing. And loni is the only one with a degree, which she don’t even use. Adrienne got hers later in life i believe. They all worked their asses off to get where they are without a degree.

Point I want to make is this: be open minded enough to allow your child choose professions or careers that they are passionate about and support it. You can guide them but it has to be what they want to do..that's how I see it
EXACTLY. Most people also do not have a passion or don't realize it until 30's or 40's and businesses take money. The reality is that most people without a college degree still make a million less than those with one and that's the truth.
Privileged? College is not the only path to success.
My mom forced us to go to church up until maybe 14/15. And I couldn't WAIT for it to be over. I went my own way IMO BECAUSE I was forced. Only when I went to university and met an amazing group of guys and I saw how their faith made such a personal impact in their lives on a daily basis did I then decide to find my way back to God. And then I chose to get baptized. At a certain point in their lives you have to let your kids find their own way in life. If they fall, they fall. As long as you've instilled in them good principles and the benefits of them, they'll be fine.
You should also think about what's being said at church. If your pastor is preaching hate against gays or trans, then guess what, your child might be struggling with their sexuality or might even have gay friends and that completely turns them off. Too many churches preach hate, sadness, and misery from the pulpit. I know because I've been to several churches where I'm ready to feel the spirit and love of god, but all the pastor is preaching is morbidity and divisiveness. I found my true path in the Old Religion and the Goddess saved me. ☯️ But not everyone can honestly criticise their churches teachings, some people are too deep in the faith and can't see anything wrong with it, but this new generation of children are more loving and open than the ones before and we can't force them to assimilate to ways that don't vibe with their spirit.

My mom never forced church or religion on us and I'm so thankful for that. Each of my 4 siblings are a different faith and respect each other differences in what we believe.

I’ll never lived life through my daughter, she’s almost 17 and very tiny and afraid of adult life. I’ve lived a whole life at 55 years old and I want her to live her life and I will support her!
It’s different when you have a church with kids your age and of all age groups. You’re able to have FUN at church. We had nursery and children’s choir so during the pastors sermon the kids would get up and leave to go have fun else where. My church was lit and enjoyable to go to!
Once the foundation in faith is set then you give your child space to process what they've learned. It was required when I was a child to go to church and serve in some capacity; I was in the choir, ushered sometimes and the church pantomime team. The schools in my country🇧🇸 also taught religious studies. When I became an adult however, I took a step back because it was soo overwhelming but soon after yearned for it; I felt the void that only that experience could fill.

In order to have a long career you gotta be able to strategize and navigate your way around any obstacles that you may encounter, and you have to be smart in order to do that. Sexy might get you in the door but it won't keep you there.
Do NOT force your child who has reached the age of accountability to go to church if they do not want to go. Their walk with God is an individual one. All you can do is raise your children in the way they should go and hope that when they are older, they won’t depart from it. Once they are able to decide for themselves, all you can do is love them, encourage them and pray for them.
My sister told my mom she didn’t want to go to church anymore and my mom said when you’re 18 you can stop. And that’s what happened.
@@washurhands5079 Same. My mom and grandmother did the same thing. When I turned 16 I stopped going to church with them and ALL family shindigs if was gonna be forced. Didn't care who didn't like it either.
When I was in college, there was a guy that showed interest in me and once asked me, “So, have you ever considered wearing contacts?” Quite frankly I had worn contacts. However I found it to be a hassle. The last straw was one day my eyes were dry and I stepped out on a windy day and one of my contacts blew out of my eye and I ended up driving with one eye close. I decided no more contacts for me. The guy was nice but I found it odd that he suggested I’d look better with contacts, yet he himself wore glasses. And yes I know there are now laser surgeries available, but I’m not interested. I’m fine with my glasses🙂

I think in a time where there are women that happen to be just as smart as they are beautiful… I can honestly say depending on the industry or field it can help when ur gorgeous ! But I feel like at this point it’s a bit of a nuisance when you’re there to be apart of the contribution to a workspace and the only value u have is through your looks when there as just as many candidates that may not be the model type but are “ average “

I was made to go to church almost every day of the week. I was an amazing singer in the choir but I threw fits. When I didn’t have to go, I didn’t. However, when I became a woman and went through my own trials, I grew my own relationship & understanding of who God was to me. It was then that I had the desire to go and seek after God for myself and could quote the sermon Verbatim. It was because I wanted to know more about God. God was no longer my mother/grandmother’s Jesus. He had shown me the ways that he made and how great life was with him. Everyday wasn’t a good day but a great day because I had God on my side through whatever I was going through.
When I was in nursing school in South Florida, it was well known in two of the most important classes that we had to take that if you dress sexy and not matter how stupid you are you would get ahead. There was so much cheating going on it made me mad because I worked so hard. Most of our work for microbiology was online and my professor used to get online while I was doing the study guide and he would message me very inappropriate things. This still goes on at that college and it really upsets me I’m sure it goes on everywhere.

I think parents who can afford to do so should ask their kids what activities they would like to try and see which ones they enjoy. I have always thought it was so cool that someone has played soccer since they were six or done gymnastics since they were eight. My parents did not do that for their kids, and that has always bothered me. Also, I think there are certain skills that kids must learn. Swimming is a great example.

As a Muslim who practices the religion myself, I've noticed this trend with people whose parents havent really taught them the religion, or forced them to obey tenets of the faith without teaching them why and the wisdoms behind it. It's a sad reality.

People think beauty and intelligence are mutually exclusive and that if you have both, then you must have had an advantage because of your beauty. It’s both sad and frustrating.
I grew up in a time where you did what your parents said period. You had no opinion, if you did then you got out and made it on your own. Parents back then weren't trying to be your friend or pale or compromise, you did what you were told. He may not want to attend church because it's boring to him or he doesn't believe in it. If you're in a deeply religious house hold that'll never fly
Yeah most people grew up in that kind of time or household and are in therapy now to deal with neglect they feel from not being heard or feeling seen, especially by the most important people in their lives early on - their parents.
Then different coping mechanisms start coming up. For women it’s usually not knowing how to draw boundaries or speak up for themselves because they were taught early in life that their voice didn’t matter. Shows up differently for everyone but that’s an example.
I think it’s important now that we as a society know better, to do better. Psychologists back that up. Listen to your kids. It doesn’t mean spoil them and give them everything they want whenever they say, obviously. There’s tons of discernment to be used and many parenting books and pages out there Dedicated to it where parents nowadays can learn and be better than what they had.

My whole life I was raised Catholic. Catholic school my whole life. However since it was sort of forced within me from the beginning I didn't have that relationship be genuine between myself and God. It took me to be a mother and experience other stages of my life to finally find a real relationship between God and myself not it being forced.

It would depend on whether it's a team or band. If it's a team, they made a commitment by joining them, the team depends on them...so they have to complete that season. They'd have to stay in the band for the semester. For church, they would have to be responsible enough to be home for a few hours by themselves and at least 16 years old and have a job.

It’s tricky giving children liberty. We can teach them decision making but it’s hard for them to grasp the concept of responsibility too young.
I think at some point we have to acknowledge the toxic ideal of saying to your children “ do as I say , not as I do” because your children look up to you ! It’s like you can do whatever because “ ima an adult “ and instead of trying to see from their perspective of why it is necessary to be a leader and show them to follow you… not be to like you but to have positive reinforcement and leeway and that should start with communication… allowing them to have a voice , allowing them to say yes or no , allowing them to make decisions for themselves ! So I would say simple acknowledgment would be fine

This topic brings the wonder woman movies to mind. The concept of having to be dressed a certain way, sexy and ruthless. It highlights the change of the scientists look from "nerdy" and "unseen" to "sexy" and "seen" and that concept that that is what's desirable. The pressure that a woman can and must have it all ... what does everyone think about that? Did it make anyone else feel a certain type of way?
I think you shouldn’t force your child to go to church, everyone has their own beliefs, regardless of what belief they’re raised in. I also want to point out that this child is now 18, they’re an adult and I think they’re well past the point of deciding if religion is for them or not, regardless of other families members religion
Everyone in my home had to go to church; no excuses. And then once my kids got 18, I allowed them to make a decision when they wanted to go because I had already nurtured them to have a personal relationship with God.

About hip hop...I love it, grew up on it. But a lot of the rap that is pushed into our communities is based on what execs believe will sell...drugs, sex, and violence. Our communities are more than that. Be careful what you put into your mind and into the mind of the little ones.
Being good looking helps. But you need to be smart in most fields. Now if you are smart, good in your field, good looking and with a good personality you’ll be great/do great in life.

I think these stereotypes also exist for men. Men who dress with what’s trendy, who wear certain jewelry, have tattoos or style their hair a certain way, can also be perceived as superficial, or not serious and smart.
I would say too girls that arent as sexy tend to be more street smart, they learn throwin on an outfit and putting on some makeup aint gonna cut it, they gotta learn to know who to talk to do their research etc, so in the business world they use those same skills. Ive met lots of people that from the outside you would walk right past them but those people could move mountains.
Looks help but to assume they'll always get someone or yourself further in life is foolish. The education matters at the end of the day. In regards to the second topic, it's important to instill discipline but have a deeper talk about the task and why. Is it a want or do they feel obligated because you're forcing them? If it's a want, set goals and hold them accountable without making them feel inferior. If they feel obligated because of you, consider that it's not for them or that there's another way to go about this. Be a parent, not a dictator.
Parents should encourage, not force, their kids to have a relationship with God. Take them to church with you. If they tell you they no longer want to go, have a conversation with them like Adrienne said. My dad made his kids go to Catholic church even though I told him so many times that I felt nothing when I was there. I found Christianity and gave my life to God when I was a young adult.
It depends on the age of the child, if their old enough to stay on their own (not at 8 years old).
