- Slatwall Install | StoreWallHD | Garage Org Episode 7
Installing slatwalls are easy, but the StoreWallHD panels have a nice system with no exposed fasteners. In this episode, I'll cover how I used the StoreWall Install Strips to get all my slatwalls installed. I also cover how to butt two panels together without having an annoying gap between them.
Tip: Use magnetic tape for trim pieces. Watch to see why!

That was a good tip on using magnetic tape on the edge trim. Nice install video.
What's the wall color? Looking to paint my garage and looks like what I was thinking. Thanks.
What kind of screws did you use? I was worried #6 drywall screws would be too brittle to hang weight from.
Very cool! Do you know what the load rating is for the Store Wall HD? And is the load rating different if you install using the mounting brackets versus screwing through the slatwall? Thanks.
Ron
I found no mention in Storewall's documentation that the strips have a higher or different load rating than directly installing the panels to the wall with screws. They give one load rating and I suspect that is the load under which the panel will actually start the fail rather than the fasteners or strips. However, Storewall recommends a #6 screw for direct install. That doesn't instill a lot of confidence! I trust the strips especially since I installed those #9 screws.
For me, the decision to use the strips was more about aesthetics and ease of solo installation.
ToolboxDIY Ok great. Thanks for the quick reply.
Do you know the load rating on the Store Wall HD?
Storewall gives the load rating as a function of how far the load is from the panel face. At 4" it is 148 lbs. At 16" it is 35. This is at a single point, i.e. a single hanger. They don't give any indication of the total load across the panel. I believe the slats themselves are the weakest point and would likely fail before the fasteners. However, they are not weak! I'd feel comfortable hanging my jack and jack stands on a slatwall shelf. FYI, here's the spec sheet where I got the loading: www.storewall.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/2-4-Specifications-Comparison.pdf
ToolboxDIY Great. Thanks for the reply/follow up.

Thanks, great video!
Are all slatwall accessories compatible with StoreWall panels? OR do we need to purchase StoreWall accessories?
Every accessory I've used so far is compatible with StoreWall. I have accessories from Organized Living (Schulte), Handiwall, and some no name brands.
@@ToolboxDIY Cool! Thank for the repsonse
Where can I find this stuff?
