    i drove for swift for a while... delivered a load to a local place that was hurting for drivers and they asked me if i wanted to drive on their dedicated account... "i said yes, definitely, been wanting to do a local dedicated"... they said for me to talk to my DM about it and my DM should send me their way
    soooo then i talk to my DM and she says "nothing available"... i said "not even for THAT company?", and she was like "nope"
    called the dedicated people back and told them what my DM told me and they said "we'll take care of it"... very next day i get a call from my DM asking why i went around them to get into that job... my response was "you're not my DM anymore so you don't have to worry about lying to me anymore"
    so he's not wrong, there are DM's that dont make the effort and lie to their drivers constantly
    file all that under "if you don't kiss my ass, you get less than minimum effort from me (the DM)".... she had something against me cause i didnt kiss ass

    Thank You for your advice, unfortunately, when I saw this video was too late my husband was o ready to enroll with Swift, the training was ok, the mentor was very nice but when he start driven for SWIFT starts the nightmare, payment was horrible no more than 400 a week, wrong directions all the time, 3 weeks try to communicate with drive leader with no results they say if they work 5 days a week they guarantee 1000 p week but after 4 days they give all the excuses possible for he can not make the 5 days driving, like; wrong directions, empty buildings, no trailer, the macros work perfect 4 days a week, but not 5, 60 hours waiting for a trailer, not communication, no answer calls, make payments for the parts because they don't approve the transaction, has to be any government institution for regulating this abuse.

Atleast that's what the swift recruiter told me recently. I am not sure why anyone would want to leave right away. The whole point is getting that experience with them, not making money.

      When u get your cdl they are goin to send u on your training g with a mentor for 4 to 6 weeks. During those weeks stay in contact with your DM (driver manager) tellin them that u want to drive local.. stay on there head constantly... most likely they might give u bs stating that u either need 6 months to a year experience or it is difficult getting a spot to drive local. Dont believe it not once. If they say that, take it upon yourself to find out wich local accounts are in your home terminal and call those accounts yourself. Find the number from someone in the terminal office. Ask can they give u the number to the local account department.. or u can ask wich local accounts is there and call them separately, they have the numbers. Try not to ask your DM because they'll want u for themselves to drive for their accounts. Bug the hell out of them and keep it real , IM A NEW DRIVER AND IM IN TRAINING LOOKIN FOR LOCAL WORK WHEN IM DONE. Most are goin to take u kn. Some might say u need experience. While doing all this, still tell your dm the whole 4 to 6 mo ths that u want locally or if not something that will have u home every other night like a dedicated route

    So how would I get ahold of the accounts... could I just talk to my DL and tell him I want to be local

      U can but they're goin to act like its impossible or they have nothing open right now. Get ahold of the local accounts numbers and talk to them yourself.. tell them u want to go local

    Do you have automatic CDL or manual?

    • @apuertorican1773
      @apuertorican1773 Před 3 lety +2

      Alot of the big Carriers are training on automatics nowadays so you’ll have an “E” restriction on your CDL if you get it from their school . (E restriction means u can’t drive manuals)

      When I use to be with swift 5 years ago. They dont pay while your training for CDL. But once in the driver training they do. I'm guessing it's still $ 500 a week rain or shine

      N if your gonna start with them make sure your mentor teaches you how to back up n I ain't talking about no straight back. I was lucky enough to know how to back up due to my father. Hes a tank driver. Great company. I was with them for 2.5 years. They treat you with respect. I'm in my 2nd company in tankers now. O.O. make alot more here and dont need to drive much. But I always did like how swift fed my family and treated drivers.
