This is a prequel to the original Raven One campaign and we are doing this one live... Well as live as CZcams pre recorded videos can get.
As much as I would love to only show me being perfect and not making any mistakes for the campaign, in this series I'm going to show all of my success and failures for you all to see. If i fail or die in a mission you will see how it all went down and hopefully it will lead to some entertaining content for you all.
Mission 01 was an absolute doozy and made me work every bit of hornet flying skill i had. I can't wait to see how crazy this thing gets and you are all coming along for the ride. The sorties are all full length and unedited so they will range from 1 to possibly 3 hours according to the campaign description.

Holy shit! I love the series mate!!! Best carrier aviation themed novels I’ve read 👌🏻 Means a lot hearing it from you and any other actual hornet pilots, not too bad for a self taught ex RAAF aircraft technician 🤪 I can fix an aircraft but flying them is a whole other world!

You are the best man I got this campaign and 2 others 2 days ago.. flew this one first. HILARIOUS and thank you for doing the video live. because I had the SAME expereince you did.. the damn pilot jinked all of a sudden without any warning.. and i said almost the same thing you did.. I was trying to do with without spoilers but a lot of this has no instructions. So Ill watch yours and learn. spoilers be dammned.
Thank you TorniQuetHD! Thanks to your videos (this one & the beginner series videos) i was able to achieve a perfect score with mission 1. Just discovered your channel about a month ago and am grateful for the content and your ability to communicate complex flight mechanics as well as airframe specific offensive/defensive tactics into not only understandable concepts but in-game-actionable instruction. I am a bit new to DCS (around 250vr hours) and your content has made challenges such as DLC campaigns (such as R1) not only playable but fun.
The fully voiced case III approach was so cool and I hope when the ATC gets reworked we get something like it!
I absolutely agree! The campaign is nice and immersive so far.
Yeah it is very overwhelming if you haven't trained case III's very much with all of the comms kicking off... can only imagine how stressful doing it for real would be

Hey there’s some sort of waypoint bug that affects mission 4, might want to look up a workaround before you do that one!

This mission is tough. I always panic and fail at air-to-air refueling. Nicely done!
Enjoyed all two hours of that. Wife thought i was nuts. Seen worse movies on tv so im happy.

Loved watching this mate. These are the things I enjoyed:
Trying to use the kneeboard on the knee.
The pilot being in the cockpit (looked different).
The commentary.
The attention you gave to the brief.
That the mission looked unedited.

dude, love the comments during this flight, made me laugh because i was saying the same shit. I had all the same fun that you did. Trying to stay with Cajun during his massive left turn to join the tanker was horrible for me. i happened to be on his left wing at the time. I was lucky enough to get enough fuel to make my second approach to the boat but was called off for other reasons. (won't spoil it). That crosswind landing was fun as well.

Haha well I was extremely tempted to give it a crack but I was way off centreline and super high too close in so it would’ve ended in disaster 🤪 I’m playing this campaign 1st go so if I screw a mission up and have to re do it you will see all of my stuff ups

I just purchased it. I can’t wait to really dive in! I did do the first mission, but right as I was about to hit the wires on the carrier, LSO said to wave off, so I gunned it to go around again. However, it still caught the 4th wire (barely cause it slammed me onto deck with only a couple feet to spare) and landed. Then the comms kept going as though I did in fact bolter. Mission wouldn’t end, so I thought I could maybe relaunch from a cat and just land right away. Then my power went out from a storm. 🤦🏻♂️ I’ll do it again tomorrow but until then, I look forward to seeing your video and how ya did! 🤙🏻
To say you need to be competent in the hornet for this campaign is accurate I’d say 🤪🤪 no spoilers but it is definitely a wild ride haha

@@ColonelAkirNakesh Yeah, right on - thanks. When it happened, I remember it mentioning in the readme that “LSO is God. Listen at all costs” or something like that. That’s why I even attempted to go around; otherwise, I would’ve just put it down regardless. Was bummed that it still caught the wire somehow.
I’ve since redone it and am on mission 5 now. Was just a bummer late last night. 🤷🏻♂️😎

I thought that we should turn in when the target is still in front of you and not wait till he has passed. Isn't that correct? There is a rule for it, an equation that I can't remember the name of. Is it 40,000ft distance and 10degrees angle off? Or is it 40degrees and 10 miles, lol I can't remember, but well done anyway!!

@@TorniQuetHD I gave it a crack after watching only the takeoff and climb on your vid so as not to spoil it for myself. Some stressful moments trying to keep it together for the CASE III landings - got the same pitching deck wave off, but what was interesting is on that second attempt you got diverted much sooner (around 14nm out still). On my 2nd run, I was only about 2nm from the boat and over the radios they were reporting someone unable to fold wings and a resultant foul deck. At that point I got the divert. I'm guessing there might have been a possible trigger on the fuel state. That strong crosswind landing at the airfield was epic too.

The user guide doesn't look like that on mine. It works fine. Might be an update or something you need from adobe

I don't have Adobe on my PC either. I only keep/use Edge to open PDFs, but they worked fine on my end. Either they fixed it or maybe it's just out of date. Reminds me though; scrub Edge from PC and get Adobe.

ACLS is disabled in this mission mate, gotta fly the case III the manual old school way

It does but you need to be able to do stuff quickly when being overloaded with other tasks at the same time, raven one the original campaign is apparently easier than the new one but they are both pretty full on. You need to be able to aerial refuel and fly formation and land in the carrier in both day and night conditions as well as do strikes on targets and all the rest of the crazy stuff they throw at you. Have you read the raven one series?? It’s worth a read if you like flying the hornet 👍🏻

I didn´t get the radio call at 1:39:39....so the mission didnt go on. I had to divert, but the mission is not considered succesfull. Any ideas?

Check my pc stats out in the description below mate, I run 1440p with that setup on high/ultra pretty decently 👌🏻 RAM seems to be the bottleneck for most higher end PC’s. My next upgrade is to 64Gig RAM

I really don't understand these missions. The objective are very much not clear to me at all. the 2nd mission makes no sense I don't even know what they want me to do.. Fly in a circle??
It is more aimed towards actual military aviation sorties… it’s not always go shoot down the enemy MiG’s coming or blow stuff up on the ground. I’m sure it gets more intense as the campaign progresses along though
This is easy. Try a night carrier landing in F/A-18 Precision Strike Fighter 3.0 and try to land the Hornet using keyboard arrow keys - you will be shitting your pants.
Flying anything of some level of complexity with a mouse and keyboard is absolutely crazy!! I tip my hat to you good sir!! No way in hell I could even fly the hornet with mouse and keyboard o7
