Uber does/did something cool, where they set a password (3or4 digit PIN) and you need to say that you get the food handed to you but I only saw being used a handful of times - either way, seems like a good idea.

It’s not always only on the customer. I once Door dashed an order and I was tracking the driver’s progress. When she pulled up into my apartment complex, I went outside to greet her. The moment she clicked delivered, and I was standing outside waiting for the order… I then called her and told her she marked my order as delivered and I was standing outside waiting to receive my order. She then proceeds to tell me a neighbor must have stolen it. I tell her, I have a ring doorbell that shows she didn’t deliver my food as you can clearly see me standing outside when she marked delivered. Then she says “I don’t even eat Applebeess” then hugs upon on me!

I'd cover all bases if I did that for a living. If the customer did that I'd legit file charges downtown for theft. I'd go into court with all footage. Money taken out of my pocket for the order & compensation for the punishment from the delivery company will be added to the total.

We have different buildings with numbers on the top but the apartment numbers 101 102 103 104 are all the same for each building. So you could be apartment 102 in building 3C but there's 12 other buildings with apartment 102* and a different building number

It's hit or miss. I've had dozens of orders of the past few years with bad orders or didn't get to my apartment.
I've had orders that weren't mine with all the wrong stuff delivered to my address, I've had my order delivered to a completely different apartment complex, I've had dashers steal my food and run off, etc.
It's gotten so ridiculous that I've had picture evidence sent to Uber Eats of my food not being delivered and they still tried to refuse a refund.
On the other hand I worked food delivery the whole of 2020, and I remember all the BS pulled on me when I drove and I had people reporting that they never got their food, but you have to be one step ahead and CYA. I got a dash cam for my car and it alleviated quite a few headaches because I had video evidence of me driving away without the food and sending that to doordash support would take weeks to show results.
I finally realized something, the service is broken, it's never going to work right, so many liars and an incompetent support team that's manned mostly by bots means this isn't a job anyone should try to survive on, you should spend your time trying to learn a skill and make this job supplemental income at best. You will regret trying to live off of it, and there are so many red flags nobody should assume otherwise.
