    the question itself is wrong, one must ask "which i should use for what?"
    one must have both softwares, here are few examples
    Pr-
    vlogs, cooking videos, ads, music video, educational.
    Ae-
    Vlogs *with rotoscoping* , cooking videos *with typography titles and names* , ads (with icons, visual data), music videos *(watch SIA song GENIUS) or to even add lyrics in cool style* , educational *(explainer videos)* .
    if you ever heard any post production person saying stuff they will always mention things like, files send for *compositing(Ae) and editing(Pr)* not necessary that you have to do compositing first, some work needs editing first and later compositing.
    side note: Pr is better for color grading

    • @nezby3945
      @nezby3945 Před 3 lety +3

      So what if I have a lots and lots of clips and I’m trying to sync them with music and add cool transitions using 3d camera and stuff how do I approach this? Do I cut my things in Pr pro and use dynamic link or do I just cut the whole thing in AE even tho it’s a lot more time consuming and what if I have more episodes do I precompose all the scenes from one episode and later choose which clips to use from that episode after cutting more episodes?

    • @DelaneyMedia
      @DelaneyMedia  Před 3 lety +5

      Everyone's workflow is a little different but I would would sync the music and do a rough edit (no transitions yet) in Premiere first. Then use dynamic link to bring specific clips into After Effects that need more advanced effects.

    • @nezby3945
      @nezby3945 Před 3 lety

      @@DelaneyMedia yea but what if you got all the plugins in ae? And also what if you need keyframes for your transitions?

    • @IAmBrandonTho
      @IAmBrandonTho Před 3 lety +8

      @@nezby3945 I see your point and I completely agree with it. Most people try to answer this when in reality, there is no easy answer. It's just not satisfying to hear or say, which is why no one does. It depends (another unsatisfying answer) on your project.
      *WALL OF TEXT ALERT*
      Let’s say you have 3 Scenes, exterior, interior stairs, interior living room. A woman and man are outside walking to his place. He’s talking, but she isn’t listening. Words are literally coming from his mouth. They sound muffled but the text is clearly visible and says “blah, blah blah blah blah. Blah blahhh blah blah.” They enter the building, walk up the stairs and he’s still talking. They enter his apartment and sit on his couch. “Are you listening?” floats from his mouth, lingers, then pops like a bubble. “I can’t do this” she says. Then hauls a** out of there.
      You COULD cut them all in Pr, but they wouldn’t have the fancy typography and tracking you would get from Ae. So maybe you could divide them into three clips within Pr. Each “clip” in Pr would be dynamically linked to Ae. So, the exterior “clip” once opened in Ae would have all the effects and edits. Same goes for the other 2 “clips”. That would make the staircasing a lot more manageable, depending on the amount of shots.
      Don’t forget about audio. You can dynamically edit audio clips right from Ae in Audition.
      PS I’m no professional by any means or stretch of the imagination. Just thought I would add my two cents from past experiences.
      PPS I’m not procrastinating by typing all of this. YOU’RE procrastinating by reading all of this.
      PPPS Quarantine does weird things to the mind.

    I like editing gaming montages for a hobby, and I was interested in trying Adobe's programs, since currently I use Davinci Resolve.
    if I wanted to use Premiere and After Effects, should I use Premiere for the basics of the montage, like video cutting and transitions, and After Effects for other advanced stuff like vfx?
    Great video btw, very easy to follow!

  • @CuttingEdgeCreator
    @CuttingEdgeCreator Před měsícem

    Basically, Premier Pro and After Effects being separate products is a money grab. Premier Pro is purposely limited so you can only do basic editing in it. You then have to pay a fee to access an entirely new piece of software with it's own separate subscription. Modern video editors like CapCut or even free ones like Davinci Resolve, do it all in one application and don't need a clunky link system to tie in two pieces of software that should have been one to begin with.

    Here my mistake from installing adobe after effect and premiere pro. ( I have 0 experience about editing software long time ago)
    Case 1: i have a project that only make like presentation video with my voice. I sinply only need cool transition between every image. I do this using adobe after effect cs 6 and im completely beginner on it. Gues what? It took me lile 2 month just to make the simple, eye catching presentation. Its so frustating for me.
    Case 2:
    So i have a new laptop that has pretty good spec. So i decide to instal premiere pro. I want to make like amv video, motion graphic, cool animation. Gues what? I search for a tutorial such like smooth shake align motion, interesting transition, cool amv effect and almost all of the tutorial tell me to use after effect.
    So i think if you want to make some basic simple video such like exe content, montage, color fix, presentation, basic cinematic. Go use premiere.
    But if u want to make a cool effect, etc that the effect cant be do only by just drag and drop. You need after effect.
