Today I go over the workflow one might use when trying to use Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro together. The adobe link makes this really easy to do, and the workflow can save you a lot of time in rendering . - Jak na to + styl
Omg, now I get why it's called AFTER Effects......Mind blown.
Thanks for the help btw
well no fckin shit jk its a meme
I've been using AE for like 10+ years, but Premiere for like... 1. This has made my day to day SO much better.
which do you like more?

Easiest tutorial I’ve seen on this subject. You got straight to the point and demonstrated a simple technique that can be greatly expanded on. Thank you!
starting at 1 minute in
I told myself I'm done fiddling with these programs for the day, but after watching this now I just have to try it for myself. Thanks!
This helped a lot in understanding the relationship between the two. It also makes after effects seem less intimidating. Thanks :D
Great video to help break the ice with after effects and get a feel for the basics. Appreciate the video not being rushed and also not dragging on for 10+ mins with excessive rambling. Thanks for the help!
Not afraid of using them together any more. Knowledge is actually power. Thank you so much. ♥
It truly is!! Thanks for the view and comment! Cheers mate :D
Exactly what i needed to know, this would be thre 6th or 7th video ive watched on using these two programs together and this was the first one to make sense
Thanks heaps!
That's great! Glad to hear you learned a lot from the video.
Many thanks for this easy and clear tutorial. I have a question: What if you took a certain clip in your sequence, did the "replace with after effect comp", added all the animation in after effects, then, you realise that you need to modify this clip in the sequence (you need it shorter or longer or you need to cut 2 sec in the middle. How you redo/handle the After effects composition an animation. Many thanks
This is super helpful! I am learning premiere and after effects on the fly, and this direction has some wonderful tips that i can forsee helping me save time and stay organized. Thanks for the super video!
Everyone has an Ae or Pr tutorial, but no one mentions where you begin and what order you do things in. This information was really helpful.
No problem! Glad I could help fill this gap! :D
I'm a beginner and the light just went on! Thanks for this simple and great tutorial!
Are y still a bignner
I want to know
now it clicked! haha
Thanks for the thorough explanation! I wasn;t sure if I needed to start editing videos in After Effects if I want to use the capabilities but now I know I don't! Sweeeeeet
Wow about time someone makes it simple! YOU ROCK!
Thanks a lot man, Easiest tutorial for beginners.
Love from INDIA
FML! I feel like I've been re-born into a new world! Thank you, this is SO GOOD! ...who knew I could get so excited about titles ...
just finished making my first track! thanks bro for all the help with learning soft soft. much love
Nice job man, seems like soft soft has gotten a lot more complex since the fruity loops days that I rember. Very helpful, thank you.
MOST HELPFUL I’VE RAN INTO !!! I APPRECIATE IT SO MUCH !
Thanks for the simple tutorial. Answered my question I was searching on Google clearly and now I have better way to move forward with our video edits.
WOW this is an AMAZINg tutorial! Thank you so much
Awesome tutorial - Simple, straightforward and very helpful!
THANK YOU! I am new to AE but have been using PP for a while now. I could not for the life of me figure out the two were linked together?! I was completely wrong! I was thinking I had to export the AE file as a mogrt file an import it somehow.
This saved me so much time and was easy to understand. THANK YOU AGAIN!!
Easiest tutorial, that's what i was looking for .. thank you mate
Right to the point, clear. This is the kind of videos I love. Thank You!!!
Great video tutorial. All the comments below are spot on. This helped me streamlined my work project. Thank you!
This video was very very helpful. I was doing thing in AE and then pulling them into Premier. But this is much simpler.
Ayyyy Thanks for helping get to know the Software! I just downloaded it in hopes of making resetupes and originals. Props to you for
Happy to help!! Thanks for watching!! Cheers :D!!
Thank you Guys!
Awesome Video, that saved me alot of Work and Sweat!
Thanks man, a very simple eye opener for beginners.
Yo I've been looking to do this for a few months now thank you soo much
Awesome video. to the point... not a single second wasted... Thank you sir
I noticed that you left After Effects open throughout the last of the sequence you were working on. Is that a requirement in order to get the video to encode properly using the AE composition you created and then used for Premiere Pro, or is it safe to close AE after you finish?
Great, simple video. Many of the other tutorial videos use a ton of keyboard shortcuts and talk too fast. This was very easy to follow. Thanks!
Wow thanks for this awesome video. I have now understood how I can make multiple kill counting numbers by linking after effects, saving me months of title edits for incrementing kill count numbers. Awesome!
Yah, getting a template linked can save you so much time with similar production elements.
Finally a complete explanation. 🤓 All my questions answered THANK YOU!
Happy to help problem solve with you!! Cheers :D
Thank you! I've begun to learn AE and have been using Resolve for color and editing, no VFX for a while now. This kind of proves the point that either I need to learn fusion, or switch to Premiere to make animation easier. The Resolve and AE 'solution' is kludgy and works but...
Thanks a lot. This is what I have been looking. It's difficult to look for hours of footages and edit this in After Effects. So, I will be using Premiere pro for editing and AE for effects and animation.
I have a 19 second clip that I used in After Effects. I have a ridiculously fast gaming computer, but even then it takes a few minutes (about 3 to 5 minutes) to update in Adobe Premiere. It is a sky replacement roto effect with drone footage. Is this time delay normal?
Finally soone who speaks in a calm way and getting to the point asap
Hey man thanks a lot. I was really overwheld and confused but now it all makes sense. Thank you.
incredibly helpful and very easily laid out. thanks a million!!!
Nice video, is it possible to load multiple clips into one composition in aftereffects?
congratulations fam!!!
hi there. please tell people that they have to have the latest afx and premiere ( same year ) otherwise they might not be able to get the assets from premiere to afx. One thing I would like to know if when you are dont with the project, do you have to save both the Premiere and After Effects for this particular job? thanks for clarifying.
I don’t have after effect or premier pro. I use my phone to edit. I just wanted to know how you could combine luma fusion with alight motion. This really helped, thanks
Hi Thank you very much ! Small question, what if I am working with proxies and I replace for after effect composition. Will it still come back to the original footage but with the effects when I switch the proxies to originals ?
You just saved me time... and lots of energy thanks bro
No problem! Glad to help. :D
This was incredibly helpful. Amazing video!
what should i do in the case of an advanced transition, needing two clips for one effect? idk if i missed something in the video, but i'm having trouble using two clips in after effects.
Great video!! Just subscribed to your channel, I'm from Mexico!
I have 2 questions:
1. Is it better to create a new composition in AE from the clip or creating an adjustment layer?
2. When it's time to color grade, what do I do with the clips with effects?
when you color grade select the clip> right click> render and replace ( make sure source - individual clips)
That was very well explained. Thank you for posting that.
I have created an After Effects file with all my outros, overlays and whatnot and I just want to keep adding short snippets of every future video I create into it. How would I go about doing that as when you put a Premiere clip into After Effects you always need to create a new one?
i love you my gosh 6 years old and still more helpful than all the videos ive watched today
No problem at all, thanks for watching! :D
Great video. Quick question. If I close Premiere and then go back in to make changes later, the dynamic link is broken and the file is lost between the 2 apps. What's the best workflow to over come this?
Hello, I was finished in after effect but still wanted to change up some things in my video. Do i have to keep after effect open the whole time till i export or can i close it when i am done with after effect but not the video?
Can you close after effects afterwards and carrying on doing other edits at Pr or does it have to stay open?
Same question here mate
Hey thanks for the tutorial, I just have I little doubt, Do I need the two programs opened until I export the final project in Premiere? Just saying because After Effects consumes a large part of the pc's memories...Thought if this wouldn't turn my pc slow keeping two programs running... thanks again!
Fantastic; you've made my and everyone else's hobbies easier with this video. Thanks!!
Glad to help! It's really powerful once you get the link going!
Awesome, exactly what I needed to know, now I know how to do this! Thank you!
TNice tutorials is really well done Mike, thanks for putting the ti and energy into tNice tutorials.
This is a way better tutorial than the others.
Told me exactly what I needed to know! Thanks for the help dude!
Glad I could help!!! Thanks for watching :D
Hi AdobeMasters, one question: how do you manage LUT layer to not impact colors of added animation?
super helpful for beginner! thank you so much!!!! really appreciate your work!
I'm so glad to hear it!! This is why I make these videos :D Happy to help!
I just wanna learn even more now- it looks so cool o.O
can you just select the hole rough cut and export it all as a single composition?
Thanks for sharing your valuable experience.
i lose image qualtiy when i render from wondershare filmora and put it into after effects ? how can i fix this ?
Hi, thanks for the tutorial but I need a help. Was working really well after I linked Adobe with AE, then my Adobe stopped working. How do I recover all the hours of work put in. Thanks
amazing. quick and easy tutorial. thanks brosef
Great tutoriel, simple and clear !
This is really awesome tutorial. Great work man.
Thanks so much for watching!! Cheers :D
This is hands down the best explanation ever!
Glad to hear it!! Thanks for watching! Cheers :D
Explained in great detail! Thank you so much!!
Happy to help however I can!! Cheers :D!!
Thank you for the video! How do you make fancy transitions? Inside Premiere Pro?
bro thanks so much, you actually made soft soft easy to understand
Hey man, nice video. I used to be to able to right click and replace my Premiere clip with an AE comp but now when I try its greyed out and not an option. Super frustrating... Any tips?
Same issue and can't figure out a solution.
Hi, pretty great instructions....but was wondering about some "net steps"....I successfully added an AE scribble effect to one of my clips in PP and it worked great! After another few clips later of my movie I wanted to add another scribble effect, right clicked on the clip, sent it over to AE where it opened up in the composition timeline, but when I tried to draw on it with my pen, all that happens is the pen just moves the entire clip around within the frame. The first imported QT clip is there in AE, along with a composition, and then the new clip portion....no matter what I do, all I can do with the pen is move the video within the frame on this second imported clip. What am I doing wrong? I even tried restarting both programs...discovered you can't delete the imported and altered files (disappeared in PP so I had to recreate). Can you please help?
If I'm using Ae templates, how does that translate to this process? Do I just import the Ae template into each composition created via the dynamic link?
Great, straight to the point. Can AE templates be imported into Adobe Rush?
Thank you for the great tutorial, I needed this.
Very well explained! Just what I needed to speed up my project.
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching!
This work with audio too? Say I want to use Premiere for base editing, but wanted to link footage from an after effects composition that is time remapped but also with sound.
SO HELPFUL AND CLEAR. thank you!
This is soo cool, thank you!
You're soo welcome!
do we have to keep after effects open for the effect to actually save into premiere pro?
Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for.
Glad it was helpful!! :D
Most simple explanation. Thank you!
Happy to help!! Thanks for watching :D
Hey mate, when I do that it creates multiple after effect project files. Do you have any information on how to make it just a single project files? Thanks :)
What about making a transition between clips? Do you have import multiple clips into AE ?
It's actually a lot simpler than i thought lol. Thank you for explaining that to me man
Absolutely!! Happy to help :D
The introduction was very helpful, thanks!
So happy to help!! Thanks for watching!! :D
This may be a dumb question, but what do you do if you tale your clip from premeire to after effects, and you just get a black screen in the display of after effects. i tried rendering the clip, i check out all the settings, and the clip is just not appearing in where it normally would.
this is happening to me as well
@@digitaloceaninc.9382 did you fix it? I'm having the same problem
@@gabrielfluorite I was having this issue, updating both of the programs made it work for me.
dude awesome HOW TO! Question, if I create a sequence in Premiere, then a comp in AE for that sequence, and way later on I decided not to use that comp and delete it, how do I only delete the AE comp without losing the original sequence? Every time I delete the AE comp, I also lose the original footage. How do I keep the orig footage?
Great video. Me and a friend are looking to make some videos for youtube. He has a copy of Adobe after effects only, if i got a copy of Premiere is there a way i can save my baseline video and then opens it in after effects to apply the graphics elements? Or will i need a copy of both pieces of software
One thing you could do is export your video from Premiere and then import it to After Effects and do the work there on it. Then you can export it back out again and reimport it to Premiere. This is going to reduce the quality by a touch, by should work overall.
Very good video , I’ve always been hesitant to use AE , but now I’m motivated .
I hope that everything worked out!! Cheers to your project and thanks for watching!! :D
Good day...i have a problem with after effect dynamic link ...i don't know whats going on when i try to replace with after effect composition in premiere pro just open after effect but with blank comp even the short clip in premiere turn blank as well ....please help
same
This Guy wants us to subscribe to him but can’t take the time to answer the bloody question egomaniac fool!!

after effects and premiere have to be the same version (same year)
@@Rarasickaf after effects and premiere have to be the same version (same year)
Most clear and helpful video on the subject Thanks!!!
No problem, thanks for watching!
When you replace clip w AE comp can it also play back any audio you have during that clip? Would I need to link the audio and video first? Also could I do this for an entire 2 minute video that I need a bunch of lower thirds for or should I go scene by scene for this? Thanks for the video and any further help.
When you highlight the footage, if you highlight the audio, it should come with it. Now AE is not the best at rendering quickly. So the audio a lot of times will play back slowed down when the footage plays back slowed down.
As for an entire two minute video. Yes, you can do the entire thing at once. For ease of editing though, I would recommend breaking it up into a few smaller pieces!
