This is a very similar case with Klopp first full season at Liverpool (16/17). The team started very well in the first half of the season and started deteriorating in the second half due to lack of fitness.
The big difference is, Liverpool owners and fans are patience enough to let him implement his system to the team.
This however will never happen under Abramovich, he just wants the team to win no matter what.
I think in the end it's a good thing that Sarri left.

Sarri simply did not have fitting players to continue the "Sarriball" that he deployed at Napoli.
Napoli under Sarri were well known for their "vertical tiki taka" and playing possession football with only few touches. However, Chelsea's attackers like to dribble and use 1v1 situations to outplay the opposition defence.

So why didn’t he adapt his tactics to the squad in the short term to ensure Chelsea could play a brand of football they were comfortable with and could win with??? He shouldn’t be credited for being stubborn and not having the right players to play his style. He should’ve done his homework on the players at the club and known that him coming into the club right before preseason, in a world cup that he wouldn’t have the time nor resources to build a squad that suits his style. Sarri was extremely lucky that he had a player like Hazard to save him or else he would’ve been sacked by Christmas. Chelsea played a more dull and ineffective brand of football under Sarri than under Conte, all that possession and passing just to score one more goal this past season than they did under Conte😒 waste of time

@@Jdh120396 well when you hire an idealist coach, one thing you can be sure that he won't change his style for the sake of the team/player. Look at Pep, bielsa, pochettino. If you really want someone who will adapt according to his team, you should have hired coaches like Mourinho, who doesn't give a sh*t about style, not an idealist. Same thing is happening in Juventus. I think it is actually board's fault in both cases. They don't know what they should do.

@@md.golammusabbirjoy9469 Exactly that. People judge Sarri by expectations & values he doesn't share. He couldn't be more open about his priorities, his first interview at Chelsea he said he wanted to "enjoy himself" coaching a team to play "his football". He's a true idealist (more so than Pep), whether you like him or not it is admirable.

Now that Sarri went off to Juve we’ll never get to see what he could’ve potentially built at Chelsea and he won’t get exposed for being dependent on Hazard.

In my opinion, Sarri was a failure at Chelsea. In terms of his achievements, it is easy for a Top 6 club to reach a domestic Cup Final even if they just try at it the slightest bit, and Chelsea were expected to reach the Europa League Final. One of his biggest problems was his midfield, where he tried all kind of nonsense, resulting in a lack of possession for Chelsea in the midfield - every. single. time.
