Wired Sennheiser gaming headsets are hands down the best gaming headsets on a budget. They’re always my recommendation to anyone that doesn’t want to spend too much or complicate things with amps or separate mics. I also love the automatic mute when you flip the mic up.
Wired IEMs sound better and are more affordable but you'd need a separate mic which I would say is better because there's no crosstalk that some (or all) headsets have when the mic and audio going through the same cable and the people on the other side of voice chat can hear themselves.
@@Qimchiy I’ve never had wire related problems with crosstalk or anyone I’ve talked to in Discord. If you did, it may be faulty headphones or a faulty DAC/ADC. IEMs vs Headphones is pretty subjective. I use open backs whenever I can. But I would rather wear IEMs over closed backs. I also use the blue Truthear Zeros with my SteamDeck and VR because they have decent imaging for the price, and aren’t tiring if worn for hours. The KZ S10 Pro X is a close second. They make micro boom mic IEM cables too. Most of the time, it’s either HD650 or HD800s with a Røde NT1 at the desk for everything from gaming to music.

The nature of open-backs makes it easier to talk.
The crosstalk thing happens when mic sensitivity is high enough. The other side of voice chat will quietly hear themselves. Usually happens when the person using the headset is quiet and discord decides the quiet crosstalk is loud enough to pass through the noise gate or noise cancellation.
I have a handful of different senns, with the most expensive set being the HD700, but in most cases I'd recommend the v-moda crossfades over the sennheiser's as gaming headphones (assuming budget is between $100-200). The only exception to is IF and only if someone wants open back headphones and is willing to buy a $100+ audio DAC with virtual surround sound (Example being the Sennheiser GSX 1000).
@@deuswulf6193 get a good simple small DAC and use HeSuVi instead. A16 Realizer surround sound bested many of the Virtual Surround Sound options in terms of pinpointing the enemy. Personally I add a ton of compression on top of that so it gets a but messy but at least I can hear quiet footsteps loud and loud gunshots not so loud.

For my occasional basshead needs I use my Mod house Argon MK3 or my Fiio FHE: Eclipse, or my car sound system with a sundown audio subwoofer. I also remember trying out the Skullcandy Crusher 360 headphones. Those things had a comical amount of bass that made me almost buy them. You could turn the bass up and down with a touch bar on one side of the headphones. They could literally rattle my teeth lol.

Spoiler alert, theyre all garbage. The turtle beach elite aero isnt unusable but not worth the money for sound quality. Coming from someone who tried about 10 "high end" wireless headsets before finding the hobby

Thank god Ananda Nano review. I was waiting for a trustworthy review and comparison on that headphone. I am currently looking to upgrade my 4xx. Looking for a grander clearer and more detailed stage. There is nothing wrong with 4xx. You praised the organic so much I was considering delaying my purchase and save a bit more for the organic. I know its not the same price bracket but still would be nice to hear your comparison and how the two stand in regards to each other in audio experience.
Drop the first 2 eq bands in the xbox accessories section. Makes a massive difference

You and people like you are the reason companies keep brazenly releasing unfinished garbage. Why bother releasing a good, complete game? They've already got your money. Release any old broken crap, bang out an "Apology To Our Community" statement when backlash gets a bit hot, then move on to the next grift.

I think when factoring-in the price and the fact these are wireless, it is clear why these are sounding like this. It's around 90 EUR, wireless (for regular-coloured version). They have decent build quality, OK microphone and as I understand Microsoft's proprietary wireless technology (and Bluetooth). In that budget it's not that bad, especially with so much side-utility. However, I wish it was even 2x the price with better sound quality. But in the 90 EUR, it's clear they had to save a buck somewhere.
You can of course just connect regular headset to the gamepad, but that is not a full wireless experience. For most people it's probably good enough to plug a wire, though.
They are pretty good if you want to save a buck and get and game in a louder room. It has a decent passive noise isolation. Microphone has an option to cut-out the background noise - but you need to dig for that in Xbox's accessory settings. I think it is easy to oversee, but for people like me, it was a motivation to keep these Microsoft headphones despite bad sound quality. I feel like they have lots of utility that are not present in headsets like PC38X.
They sound very bad for music and movies, but for playing with friends (where I put comms on high volume), they are serviceable/good enough. I even played Cyberpunk on them and it was a good enough experience for me.
Also, the comfort stuff is not very bad, but they clamp really hard which can produce headaches.
My personal experience with the standard black colour of this headset is it’s one of the most uncomfortable headsets ever. Looks nice to display but that’s all I use it for.

6:35 oh.. about baldurs gate 3, what do you think about: rosymorn monastery, last light, twisted force, emerald grove, OST? Not all are included in the official soundtrack album, but I really love those melodies in my Hifiman ananda, like they were really made for that type of orchestra.

Best gaming headphone I've used is AKG K712 Pro. Wide and precise. Hear steps long before seeing target. Oh and velour pads in summer....they breathe.

Its just the standard xbox headset which would be a fine 80 bucks headset (even then a little expensive, but oke..) It's not bad.. It's just a really average headset. I like the way you do your videos! You are one off the few left who doesn't sell himself to say what companies want them to.. or let your opinion be bought! I really respect that! Consumers deserve honest reviews.. not sponsored talks.
I bought this yesterday and so far, here's what I've noticed.
1. With regular audio sound, (music from my phone, CZcams videos, etc ) it seems to be on par with some of the better headsets I've ever used.
2. Visually, as stated in the video, very cool.
3. So far, the audio in game play is ....not great? I feel like I'm getting too much of an echo when playing games like COD.
I have ATH M50x and Bose QC2, both connect and work fine via 3.5 jack to the xbox controller. Will they be better than these? I don't care about microphone, only play single player games.

Good sounding closed backs that sound good, have big hole for good comfort, and also mic? (excluding wireless, so no maxwell)
I know you're specifically asking for ones with a microphone but the Modmic is still a dang good addition to any wired headset. It sounds pretty much as good as an built-in mic can sound and you can stick it into any headset you have available. DT770 is still pretty decent, especially with its large earcups and good comfort.
The bass is op, just use the dashboard eq & it improves. I bought this & don't regret it, not as comfortable as my B&O.
the Dolby access really makes difference with right EQ

I have the regular one. It been beat up i broke the mic brace so the mic was dangling by a wire and the mute button came out i super glued it back together now it's battery barely lasts as long as it came out the box. Time for a replacement 😊
If irc Coolermaster stopped making that MH751 which is a shame cause that was a pretty decent headset that wowed a lot of people I recommended it to (to replace their sub $50 headphones from razer etc.). Now its kind of hard to find anything sub $100 that id be fine recommending, especially for headsets like this.
Those are based on Takstar pro 82. Takstar made some gaming headsets based on it as well, you can find one then you can get it.

I found a good audio review channel. I used Xbox headset. I sold it, along with the XSX. The steel series has really good song and has really good breathable ear ups. But the build of those steelseries is real bad and extremely cheap for the cost I paid.

I don't think anyone has ever commented, I have the Xbox headset, and I find the band a little too short. Of all my headphones, from HD600 to Momentums others, I can JUST about get both ear cups round and over my ears...barely...Because of this, I seldom use it. It's just not comfortable for me. Or never over a 30min period.

Good headsets are good for gaming as well. I really don't see the appeal besides the aesthetics. They do look pretty cool. Though I use 3.5mm Earpods for almost everything I do on my PC.
Would you review the Baseus H1i or GH02? they are cheap (aliexpress, check for stores with coupons). bt 5.3, ANC, LHDC. I've been using the H1's for 4 months & they are amazing for $40 headphones. They also make GH02 bt 5.3, 2.4ghz wireless, & 40mm + 10mm dual driver. I've been impressed with quality & how fast they iterate, but there are almost zero reviews.

i hate that this headset always turns on the xbox when i turn the headset on. It's nice if you only use it for xbox. But when i use it both for me pc and xbox, it's super anooying to have to turn off the xbox since i dont want it to turn on all the time. Is there a fix for this?
They should have curved the microphone to the same contour as the ear cups so it tucks away better.....I think I'll stick with SteelSeries

I'm curious if you have tried to EQ to fix the sound of this headphones? based on what you mentioned in this video I assume that is the stock sound profile which I've heard people said it's terrible, similar to what you've mentioned. I believe this headphones comes with the EQ app on Xbox, and some people said they're be able to achieve quite decent sound using EQ to correct it, would you love to hear your experience on that. ❤️
Left gaming stuff behind. Sennheiser and Beyerdynamic "gaming" lines excepted. Went DT-990 pro, with add on wireless mic. No contest. One product is engineered, the other is simply marketed.
I have the controller and it looks awesome. My plan is to plan Starfield with it. Looks like I will stick with my Maxwell's for the sound! They look nice though.
How's sound stage on Maxwells? Do you like them overall?
@@talking_mudcrab It took me a while to get used to compared to open back to be honest. I used to use Blackshark V2 Pro for wireless gaming and it's on par with those, maybe a little better. But, the sound is much better than on those. I have a wired pair of open back Edition XS headphones which are the chef's kiss of soundstage.
Once you get used to them though they are incredible, just not wide soundstage.

Did you try tweaking the EQ on xbox or try it with dolby atmos? Actually getting these exact headphones today, I already know it sounds not comparable to my maxwells but just wanted something for my XBox and for starfield
EQ can only do so much for any headphone, other than the aesthetic - they aren't a great headphone
I have the normal xbox ones and got the dolby app that eq's them. It helps a lot but it's got a ceiling for sure. I also do have the PC38X's that Josh reccs in this video and out of the box those are miles better. The controller is enough to power them too which is nice.
Gaming audio is a tough area to deal with in my experience. I have tried to convince people that gaming headsets are sub-par and that better quality can be had from non-gaming audio products. But most people think nothing about buying things like this headset, or Astros etc and yet look at you like you're crazy for buying HD6XX, for example.

@@princekittipon6510 honestly i recommend the truthear hexa for a cheap sub $100 range iem, for around $200 i recommend the dunu talos which has a brighter response which will help hearing footsteps with good detailing and technical performance
For pc players that is absolutely true. But on console your options are limited. I would to be able to use my HD800S for gaming but I’m on Xbox and haven’t found a workaround.

Can’t agree. Imo the Xbox Wireless Headset has a great bang for your buck. I had sever much more expensive and allegedly high quality headsets before for up to triple the price. None of the headsets were so easy to connect, had such a great battery life or such a good sound like the Xbox wireless headset. I recommend this headset to my friends and no one had your opinion. All said it’s a great sound and features for way less price.
Maybe you have special elite ears but for my peasant ears it’s just awesome. I can highly recommend it. And yea the visuals of this specific Starfield edition are truly out of this world.

There was a reddit thread somewhere where someone posted a very severe EQ adjustment to make these sound good. Can confirm, setting the EQ in xbox does make them sound fine. Not great but fine.
