Thanks everyone for the great feedback, and thanks to the team at The Slip Angle! It was unparalleled fun putting the car through its paces on the twisty CT roads for this series.
A lot of questions will be answered in the upcoming videos so I won't divulge the spoilers here...contact us via our site if you have specific questions that can't wait before ordering one for yourself!
Would love to see a 10spd auto 8n this!
@@boywonderrr71 WHAT !!?? Blasphemy !
Your car is awesome, everything looks great! Curious if you can do the same with a ND2 or is it ND1 specific?
@sarasotasupersportperformance How much did this cost minus the cost to get the car? I tried looking on the website, but it doesn't show
Agree an automatic option would be great. I'm a disabled veteran and as much as I like a stick, my knees like it less. In fact I sold my last stick shift after I got to ride the clutch for hours in traffic.
Dude. I have been wondering why Flyin Miata stopped offering that package. Thank you for continuing their legacy on that. I will now refer people to your business.
:)
i think they stopped because of emissions reasons. something about the legal process.
Fucking EPA
how about inline 3 toyota electric assisted turbo areo kit hypermiler
They did a video I think or I read on a forum that they were a small company with a handful of guys and they didn't have the manpower or the time to be doing those big projects for customers so now they stick to smaller work.
This thing sounds glorious. I’m sure the shifting from tremec with steering feel and body feedback is unmatched in today’s market.
Agreed!
This has to be one of the best "resto-mods" around and certainly my new favorite LS-swapped car.
It’s just “mod”, as there is no restoration involved in a new car.
Instead of resto mod, he meant bad azz car! @@pauloakes6952
What a little beast this thing is! It was a blast to film and edit this video!
Nice work! 👌
Thanks for your time and work brothaa!!!
Y'all straight up shoved a Tyrannosaurus Rex inside a kitten's body!!! Impressive as hell!
That's what she said.
That sounded illegal 😂
The ND Miata really is the total package to do this with. Especially the RF body. It’s a perfectly sized package that looks great and has all the modern stuff and some of the best driving dynamics.
Very cool. Good production value, good story. TBH, it felt very SavageGeese which is meant as a compliment. Excited to see driving impressions.
This comment made my day… I’m a huge fan of them and love their production value. I do the best I can with the tools & time that I have and to even be put in the same ballpark as them is an amazing compliment in my eyes.
Thank you!
I thought the same. They are the absolute pinnacle. I’ve been watching this Channel for years now and this is the best yet.
I love my 2SS 1LE 6th gen Camaro, but this is the dream. Chevy's LT and LS engines, that sweet Tremec, and the Miata experience all in one - just awesome.
This is my end goal dream car. Please stay in business Lawrence. I’ll be seeing ya soon.
Facts ..Same dream 💯
The Miata is such a phenomenal sports car platform just originally -- - swap a V8 and you have, hands down, a super car killer!!!!
Been a fan of FM for decades. Great to see you taking this to the next level.
Incredible news. I'm so glad you kept doing the LS swap. I saw one of these Flying Miata LS swapped cars at the track and it was amazing. I loved the way it was killing the Corvette guys at the track in the straightaways, and they couldn't do anything but lose ground. Ultimate sleeper car. Interested in the handling and track experiences so far band dyno and lap times. C'mon Lawrence, please, tell me more!
Great car! It's really good that you picked up this program and kept it going. Don't need music over the sound of the car.
Had me at the Bucee's hat. Seriously, though. Great presentation/editing in this video. The passion and intellect this man has will hopefully propel him to great sustainable success. Best of luck to SSSP!
Love the build, you can see the pride and passion Lawrence puts into these cars.
All I can is WOW!!! That is an absolute amazing build. The attention to detail on that build is next to NONE!! It would take me awhile to drive it just because I would be stuck looking at everything done to it. That is an amazing build! 👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Miata go WHEEEEEEEEEE
awesome ! Finally a real motor in this car
Great video with some really good filming. Looking forward to Quinns review
Thank you!
OMG....what a beast. If only it could be transfered to RHD, I'd love that available here in Australia. Great work!!
That's one sick mx5... brilliant. John
Its a beautiful build i hope they or someone else have initiatives to open one in Australia
this car, streetlegal for german roads... that's a dream.
Two dreams in one car, an american V8 and a Miata... oh god... i just fall in love❤
@@renek3840 My car has a European Union approval, it should be possible to register in any EU member state. It might be for sale.
I could probably never afford one, but if I had the money to spend on a really cool car - this would be the one! 😁
Gonna need all the b roll you got on this monster! What a beauty!
Man oh Man!! You can just see, with the way it behaves, that this is a solid piece of machinery. Just looks amazing and has a prowess that conveys quality all the way! Excellent work, Sir. Something to definitely be proud of... congratulations 👍👍
Seems like one of the funnest driving experiences
It is something else for sure!
Bravo, the old time philosophy of doing it right and thorough the FIRST time. You, sir, have become a craftsman of boutique sports cars.
With new cars being so soft and unengaging I’ve been looking at older cars. This is great rendition of an “older” car especially looking to be a Shelby cobra!
This is one hot miata 🔥🌶 sick build this guy and company are offering
Fantastic video. Absolutely LOVE that someone picked up the v8 miata market
Awesome work man! I’m a VW/American Muscle car guy and have always wanted to see someone give this car the power it deserves. Bravo!
OH MY GOD this sounds so sick wow ! beautiful job
Dream Car, glad to see all that work FM did found a home! Looks like Lawrence has made it his own in many ways. Can't wait to see that bell for more!
Well, now I gotta take my 94 ls2 Miata for a spin after work today lol!
I can’t imagine a cammed ls3 with 3.91s in such a light car. I’m still scared of my factory ls2 with 3.73!
Awesome! Like Lawrence said in the video, it’s very snappy…
What’s the price?
More than you can afford, pal. Ferrari!!!! 😂
@@seankhoyle3168 I expect it to cost the price of an ND miata (~17k) + about $75k. So all in all, about $100k including tax, title and reg? Does my estimate look wrong?
Cannot wait for more content on this
Good God. I have a 2022 Black ND RF 3000mi garage queen. Can only dream to transform it into that "thing"...🥰
I saw the tag on the car and my first thought was Florida Man is at it again.
This is glorious. I hope to own one one day. The 5.3 with Tremec in this body is just...choice....
I got one of FM's very few DIY kits back in 2018/2019, built it myself but with an LS7. I got 517hp at the wheels, so it makes for an interesting ride, that's for sure 😎 Mine gained about 150kg/300lbs but then gained almost 400hp, and the front rear balance hardly shifted at all, still very close to an even 50/50. I'm really amazed how this little car handles all that power with such grace. It's obviously an expensive conversion, but the level of detail and quallity that goes into it are really exceptional, and it really looks, feels and behaves like a factory built car. You could of course compare it to other similar priced modern sports cars, but how many gives you that true sports car feel from a RWD, manually shifted, NA engine car? And you will probably be the only one with such a car at any car meet etc. you show up to. If my numbers are correct, FM built 8 turn key cars including their own, and then sold 4 DIY kits, that's a total of only 12 cars, compare that to any so called limited edition car. And to all of you who has nothing better to do than bashing on this saying that it's not a moden AC Cobra and that it should have had a Ford motor bla bla bla, just go build something your selves instead and have some fun. It's obviously no modern AC Cobra, but it's built with the same philosophy, small light sports car with a big V8. And just for the record, no modern Ford V8 would have ever fitted in the ND like an LS.
@Lawrence, thanks, it has been nice chatting 👍
I was fortunate enough to see one of the flying Miata conversion cars, one word, awesome! The detail in the workmanship and the quality of the parts outstanding had a conversation with the owner and while it was a pricey swap not much more than my C8 Corvette!!
It would be interesting if Mazda dropped that inline 6 turbo they have in the cx90 into an mx5. Not as fast as an LS, but would be pretty quick.
very likable guy
That car is gorgeous
This guy makes really classy builds, epic!!
Really well done conversion on an ND, must be a blast to drive! The video came out great as well, looking forward to the other 3 videos!
Somewhere in a car garage in heaven, Carol Shelby has a Texas-sized grin on his face.
Very well done video, I’ll have to go to Sarasota and check it out, maybe do my own little review video
Production quality on this video was 💪 👏✊🔥. SavageGeese-level perfection, as another poster stated.
What an absolutely phenomenal Car. It sounds so good. 😻
Insane
Glad you're continuing the work of the V8 Miata. I hope your business does well and that as a result this is just the first step in a growing business. I don't think that you mentioned the weight, but hopefully it has remained low.
If it's anything like most V8 miatas, they generally only gain a few hundred pounds over stock and become slightly front biased.
Great video! Good luck to Lawrence!
This is incredible, I would love to pick up one off these in my life time!
It's certainly a very special car!
Love it but were it mine, I’d have to spec wider rear tires. I’m sure it would change the handling characteristics you dialed it in to have, but I would want that Cobra fat-back look to match that primal growl of that LS. Love the approach and vision. Love the sound and the quality look of the work. I’m a fan 👍
A frickin v8 is insane that thing just needed a turbo with a good intercooler and a tune.
Very impressive; and thanks for your service
I too want to know weight and balance change,
and maybe price range… a thoroughly prepared and tight car clearly deserves a non-dyi premium
Damn this guy has a bucee's hat and a Barbe shirt, he must live at that track
New dream car unlocked
The V8 Bullet mazda was a limited edition production made in QLD Australia in 1999 .
If y’all are looking to hire a driver for those first 500 mile break-ins, my resume is on deck 😎
Man, I'm right across Rt 60 on the other coast from you. I know where to go when I get my next car. That car is exactly what I want
If I ever save enough to get this done I will... Simply breath taking engineering 👏👏
Zoom Zoom to Boom Boom!
Looks lush, lovely sound and looks well designed and locked together. I have this model with 184 but your model is a dream. No chance in Uk sadly!
Badass, I want one
Wow, sign me up. What a car!
Cant wait for more videos
bro... im in love. and i already have a ND
Awesome man. Truly awesome. I want one so bad.
The Pennywise chase stabilization is indeed creepy. Even when it's just a happy V8 Miata chasing you.
Thanks for the nightmares.
Awesome stuff brother. Love the buccees hat
Wasn't expecting route 72 rollers! Drive it all the time.
Lawrence, this is incredible. Fantastic work, living the dream. Personally I'd love to see an AJ126 (Jag Ftype SC motor) swap in an ND but this looks gnarly as heck.
I feel like this package on a Fiat 124 Spider would be more of a Shelby Cobra successor.
I have never wanted a Miata more
I'd love to see Thottle House do an episode on this car! If I could afford one of these, it'd be in my driveway right now.
Best wishes for you and your awesome business!
what are we looking at for the white glove experience, 100k? i'm not arguing the cost of the driving experience, I'm already sold on an RF Miata with that powerplant and sound. i cant wait until someone puts a 5.2 Voodoo in an RF...a man can dream 😁
Yeah, I love the concept but $100k. There are a lot of other interesting cars out there.
This Car is amazing and made from Petrolheads. Wow, i´m flashed. I´m from Germany and i´m driving since 2004 only Mazdas.
Great build. Never understate the importance of Mazda’s superb styling. Ugly cars don’t get the mod attention. The Miata brought the looks to add unmistakeably to your work.
DAMN! Not too many videos where I smiled and salivated all the way through watching. I even felt some movement in my pants… 🤭👍
Thanks, I have been eating healthy and doing pilates...glad to know I still got it!
You never expect to hear that exhaust note from a miata.
Car is awesome.
Best of luck in this venture !
How much? Always liked miata for the idea, but they just sound anemic. This is the perfect car.
This is sick, curious on the total cost?
I heard from the internet it's about $75k in addition to the cost of a donor car (brand new RF starts at $36k, but I guess you could find a used one for less than that). So all told $100-120k before tax. Maybe a lot higher if my source was off. Which obviously puts it in competition with some big name manufacturer cars like the Z06 and 911 but I think this looks way cooler. The current gen Miata's styling is so underrated IMO, if it were any non-Japanese manufacturer people would be saying it's one of the sexiest cars being sold right now.
This is the perfect sports car I want one!
Incredible! How much would a basic conversion cost?
Starts around $60k
@@mitchell9937 it's $60k + you providing a Miata???? If so, that's quite expensive for an LS swap and mods.
@@sdlausen1.... 🤦♂️... ya didnt watch the video didya? Miles beyond a "swap and mods." EVERYTHING under the car is BESPOKE to the build and BRAND NEW. Nothing but the control arms from the ND remain.
@@Hondatsun_Dan you think this car is worth $80k
@@sdlausen1... "worth" involves perspective. If i had 80k to blow, no - I would spend my money differently. Do i think the cost is fair for the build - ABSOLUTELY. LS3 CRATE MOTOR = $10k. Tremec 6060 with custom gearing $7k+, spec built 218mm rear diff $3k+. We are already @ 20k for basic driveline. Custom driveshaft, halfshafts, crossmembers, steering rack. Bespoke fox racing / eibach suspension, exhaust manifolds... brake package HEAT SHIELDING...countless other necessary bits that need fabricating....easily another $15-20k Stiill not a penny paid in labor for actual assembly. $20k left to build it professionally by a dedicated specialist and staff DIRT CHEAP. @ $100hr the whole build must be done in under 200hrs. 1 week for a staff of 5 people @ ZERO BUSINESS PROFIT and no accounting for overhead business costs.
Congrats and wishing you all the success. Love to be a customer one day.
I’m so tempted to give you my 2024 RF club. It’s only got 1365 miles. lol.
This is just silly. Love it!
All power to you sir. Would love to see a transaxle conversion one day.
Nice clean installation.
Whats the cost and lead time?
Amazing , Phew man . wow
This is my dream car
Amazing car, what a sound ❤
That car is sweet!
I'm blown away at the fact that you managed to get a V8 into the MX-5 chassis.
People have been doing it for 25 years. The LS3 looks amazing in the ND.
