      The McCanns are not short of money.
      So yes! They COULD have employed a babysitter from DAY ONE.
      So why didn't they????
      Because a babysitter would have seen that there were only 2 babies.
      Madeleine was already missing.
      FROM DAY ONE.
      Now what do all of us do when we go on holiday?????
      We take photos. Especially of the kids.
      Yet none were taken after DAY ONE.
      The photos that were EVENTUALLY handed over to the Portuguese police were fake. Doctored images. The tennis ball photo is not even Madeleine. It is a different girl, photoshopped by adding a hat.
      The camera settings had been tampered with.
      Because Madeleine was already dead.

    The Portuguese police actually wasn't incompetent. They suspected the parents from the very beginning and the parents knew this, which is why they refused to cooperate with the investigation. This made the Portuguese police look incompetent and foolish. Also, Scotland Yard didn't even want to pursue any avenue other than the "abduction" one.

    Facts are Kate left the twins alone to call for help, leaving them in the same room where Maddie, according to her version, had just been abducted. Besides, in an interview, when asked whether they had killed Maddie, Gerry smiled, hesitated, stammered a lot and answered vaguely ‘no because there is no proof about it’. Kate washed Maddie’s cuddle cat toy before the sniffer dogs’ visit, Kate made a sexual comment about Maddie in her book,... so many red flags!

    • @SB-131
      @SB-131 Před 6 měsíci +3

      Based on the Mccann's home videos, I felt spooked by the way Gerry spoke to Madeleine - I wonder if this case is similar to Jon Bennet Ramsey. "over-interested" dad? jealous mother? Kate accidentally killed her daughter just as Patsy did - maybe this is part of the reason both mothers were impatient with and unconnected to their little girls

    • @pinkiepie6880
      @pinkiepie6880 Před 5 měsíci +4

      @SB-131
      I think Burke killed JonBenét on not patsy. Whether he meant to kill her or just injure her is another matter.
      Patsy didn't want to lose another child, so she covered for him and wrote the ransom note. No kidnapper using someone else's note paper and pen, whilist in the victim's home, writes a randsom note that long. In fact, ransom notes several pages long are unheard of. The note had a very feminine tone to it and extrapolated on things that didn't need to be said. Not to mention the amount of money demanded waa exactly the amount of John's bonus.
      We know that Burke was very jealous of JonBenét and had a temper problem. According to the autopsy, JonBenét had pineapples and ice cream in her digestive tract, which was Burke's favourite treat. He lost his temper that night and picked up a flash light and struck her skull with it. John then proceeded to stage the body. Even the ligature used to tie her hands was needlessly complicated. He also led a witness to where the body was placed. This is common among criminals, especially murderers, as it gives the impression that a witness discovered the body of their own accord and therefore the suspect goes with them and is deemed innocent. Common tactic. Not to mention the Ramsey's first move was to call friends over and have them tramp all over the house. The body was also moved, contaminating the crime scene further. And I haven't even got started on the emergency phone call Patsy made...
      You can hear 3 voices when the audio is enhanced; Patsy, John and Burke, despite the Ramsey's stating Burke was asleep, in bed, at the time. It sounds like he asks "What have you found?" in a sing song voice. You can hear John reprimand him or speak authoratively the way a parent speaks to a child. So many red flags in this case.
      If you don't mind me asking, what makes you think Patsy committed the murder or manslaughter?
      As for the McCannes, I've always assumed they were guilty. I believe Madeline was given a sedative and either over dosed, or more likely was injured, as the cadaver and blood dogs hit on several places inside the home and hire car. Not to mention on Madeline's stuffed toy. Besides many other red flags, evidence and suspect behaviour and testimonies from the McCannes and their associates.

    @mizofan Před 3 lety +445

    - The McCanns left the little children alone even though there was a babysitting service available and Madeleine had previously cried and asked them where they had been.
    - There was no evidence of a break in or abduction.
    - Kate and Gerry admitted they did not search for Madeleine when she went missing.
    - Kate's reaction to not finding Madeleine in the apartment was to shout "they've taken her".
    - They changed their accounts of what happened on the evening Madeleine went missing.
    - They initially said the shutters had been jemmied open, broken and raised, the window open. Later, with no evidence of a break in or damage to or tampering with shutters or window, they said they must have left the patio door unlocked.
    - Kate refused to answer 48 police questions, even though Gerry McCann told interviewer Jeremy Paxman, who mentioned the "media circus", that any parents would try to get as much info as possible into an investigation to find their missing child.
    - The one police question Kate did answer was to acknowledge she understood that her failure to answer questions might jeopardise the investigation.
    - Kate and Gerry refused to take part in a Portuguese police reconstruction.
    - Gerry refused to comment when asked if he knew fellow suspect Robert Murat
    - Former doctor friends the Gaspars contacted Leicestershire police to express concerns that David Payne had jokingly made sexual comments and gestures about Madeleine to Gerry. Leicestershire police failed to pass the statements on to the Portuguese for 6 months- after lead detective Amaral, convinced of the McCanns' guilt, had been taken off the case.
    - They lost their libel case against Amaral, over his book The Truth of the Lie, and his assertions of his belief in their guilt, based on various evidence.
    - 2 reliable British-trained dogs, with expert handler, alerted to blood and cadaver scent in the McCanns' apartment, possessions, clothes and hire car.
    - Kate explained the cadaver scent on her clothes as due to her work as a doctor.
    - The McCanns left the hire car doors and boot open, explained that the dog's cadaver scent marking was due to the smell of rotting meat in the boot, also to dirty nappies.
    - When asked much later which possible sightings of Madeleine had interested them, Gerry could not think of any and Kate finally mentioned one in Amsterdam.
    - They then redirected the issue back to Jane Tanner's supposed and convenient sighting of a possible abductor on the evening of Madeleine's disappearance.
    - When on another occasion they were asked about their emotions when a possible sighting was mentioned, Gerry smirked.
    - Gerry was filmed laughing on a balcony a few days after Madeleine disappeared.
    - In various interviews Kate and Gerry showed a lot of concern over being believed, their own reputations, reinforcing the narrative of an abduction, but little over what was happening now to (supposedly abducted) Madeleine.
    -Expert statement analyst Peter Hyatt said he was certain Kate and Gerry were lying in interview.
    - Despite public disquiet over their veracity, the McCanns have refused to take a lie detector test.
    - Various statements of the McCanns and their friends changed and were contradictory.
    - Jane Tanner's initially vague account of the possible abductor changed and became more detailed. Initially, she said she did not see his face, then claimed it was Robert Murat, but retracted that, and much later said that he had scruffy long hair and moustache, to fit another alleged suspect (who looked very different from Murat).
    - 3 of the McCanns' friends said they saw Robert Murat in the area of the McCanns' apartment the evening Madeleine disappeared. Other people who knew him did not. They later admitted they may have been mistaken.
    - The police interview statement of David Payne confirming he saw Madeleine alive before they went out for drinks was riddled with hesitancy and contradictions compared with what Gerry and Kate said.
    - The Madeleine fund has not been a charity, nor totally committed to finding her.
    - A huge amount of time and money has been spent on lawyers and suing critics of the McCanns that might have been spent instead on finding Madeleine.
    - A huge amount has been spent on criminal and incompetent private detectives with bogus stories and leads. Year after year there have been new prime suspects publicised by the media, and police wild goose chases, diversions from the truth, and often promoted by the McCanns and their publicist/media controller Clarence Mitchell

      There are gaping holes in ALL of the TAPAS group's statements!
      For many observers of this case, it seems clear that Madeleine died BEFORE the night of the so called abduction.
      There are no photographs after the first day. Who takes their kids on holiday and does not take lots of snaps? (Especially nowadays with digital cameras).
      Most of us suspect that she died in the appartment, possibly from a blow to the head. Possibly after falling over in a chemically induced stupour.
      All of the other odd bits of information add to the suspicions.
      ie:- the removal of the fridge, the missing sports bag, the blood, the cutting of the twins hair, the bleaching of the appartment, the washing of the cuddle cat, the deliberate contamination of the "SCENE OF THE CRIME", the delay in calling the police,.
      And the continual changing of the story all goes to fuel suspicion.

      If we asume that the dog was picking up on a dead Madelaine...
      Cadaverine starts forming about 90 minutes to two hours after death.
      So. For the dog to detect the smell behind the sofa means that Madelaine was there for several hours or was put there briefly, hours after she died.
      The blood behind the sofa was apparently spatter, not a smear. Which indicates that Madelaine fell behind the sofa. The blood also seeped under the tile, which indicates that it was very fresh, because blood starts clotting very quickly.
      Behind the sofa was the window. Madelaine was hyper active. It is therefore likely that she climbed from the sofa to the window and fell between.

    I am surprised Calpol was mentioned - I think Phenergan, an antihistamine which brings on drowsiness, would have been a more likely medicine. It's available over the counter at pharmacies and was used by adults for insomnia. It is safe to be given to toddlers, so perhaps all three children were given it as Madeline asked the mother why she didnt come the previous night when she called out that the twins were crying ?

    This is the first video I've come across from this channel and you guys have been a joy to listen to!
    Usually I don't like these longer format podcast type videos as I have a short attention span. Unless it's a historical or crime documentary, I have trouble paying attention to these types of videos where people just sit down together and have a discussion.
    But I've enjoyed this: you've laid out the facts of the case and the Netflix documentary very well (I've watched the documentary and researched the case, even watched Richard D. Hall's investigation on it, but I still like to hear about it from different perspectives and catch any new information about the case), as well as adding your own takes and opinions respectfully.

They were still left alone and vulnerable the rest of the time. Also too much pressure on a three year old to comfort crying babies... Kate did NOT say “they’ve taken her” when she first came back to the table. The “they’ve taken her” line is a factoid (i.e. untrue, but now seared into public consciousness about this case thanks to constant media repetition). The original police files show very clearly that all the witness statements of the Tapas 7 say the same thing: that Kate came back to the table upset and saying that “Madeleine had disappeared” which is a normal reaction of a parent not finding their child in the apartment. “They’ve taken her” was a line that only appeared later as the McCanns developed the abduction story. In other words it was backfill as they scrambled to explain how their child had vanished into thin air.
    Also according to other eye witness statements, a) the table in the restaurant was deserted by the families at 9.20, a full 40 minutes before the time given by Kate as the time of her final check. One of the tapas 7 was still there who explained to the chef (who gave the witness statement) that everyone else had gone to look for a little girl who was missing, and she was waiting in case Madeline came to the tapas bar looking for her parents. b) two other witness statements by tourists in the area state that they heard voices calling “Madeleine” at around 9.30pm, meaning that a search was already happening at least half an hour before the 10pm time given to the police. This all points to the mcCanns buying time. Why?? The evidence points to Gerry using this time to take Madeleine’s body down to the beach to hide her (Smith sighting of a man resembling Gerry carrying a blonde haired child at 9.50 walking towards the beach ) and then return to the apartment to join in the “search”, call the police and report the time of the final check and discovery of the “abduction” at 10pm.
