Appreciate the review Archie. I purchased my 39mm with the blue dial in January this year and I am delighted with it. The best looking watch in the Rolex catalogue.
Got this watch yesterday - love it! The blue pips are a lot more subtle in the flesh so the watch has a dressier appearance than I expected.

Completely agree with every single point made by Archie...I'm not big or over-weight and wear a 36mm OP with blue 3,6, 9 dial. If you are a bigger chap, a 39 would be better...it's all about proportion. The newer oyster bracelet is very comfortable. Simple, stylish and sporty.
I have the blue dial 39mm bought new in Feb 2017. Awesome thing.

It would have been a good buy since it was discontinued, got my 39mm years ago with rhodium dial.
If you’re a big guy 39 is fine, everyone else get a 36. Elegant and classic.

An OP is either a Rolex gateway drug, or for 'one and done' guys who want maximum versatility and eschew the sports models. Wish they'd release a black dial with plain silver indices like my 15200.
The 2018 black is perfect. no colors, same size markers.

39 mil is the new 36? And obese is the new overweight.
Wear whatever size that suits your wrist is my guiding principle. The lugs should definitely not protrude beyond the cross section of the wrist. I have watches with diameters up to 46mm (not counting lugs) and it is those larger sizes that get the most wrist time. It's just my preference.
No Breitlings but plenty of IWCs and JLCs in 46mm. I'm a Richemont fanboy.

I just bought one of these in 39mm Blue today, Id tell my friends Archie but they are broke bastards and don't appreciate nice things like we do, My Breitling is MASSIVE, my Omega Speed Master is a nice all around watch as well.

It's a sign of the times, 39 is the new 36 for men, I also don't want to racial profile but a lot more affluent brothers in the house now, think athletes like American NFL footballers, basketball players, the image they project for other brothers to aspire to... can you imagine a big built brother sporting a 36mm watch? Face it guys unless you are ultra skinny or an older guy... no way you can wear a 36mm and not get teased for wearing a girls watch.

I noticed Tony Sopranos watch too， it looks great in the 90s when the day date didnt come out in 41mm yet but had it been available Tony would have gotten the more manly size. Look i think dress watches in smaller sizes are fine，technically its going to be covered under the shirt or suit. But if you wear a watch that is 36mm dressed in casual or sporty clothes it just dont look right to me thats all. But who am i anyway？ I am just a regular punter trying to get some entertainment and good advice from the Pontiff. For me personally watches between 39mm to 42mm would be right for my 7.5inch wrists. But yeah i got to stay away from shitters to compensate for my teenie sad excuse of a weiner.
