Agreed. I think there's a reason why big publishers and UGC sites are being pushed upwards in SERPS, and that's because big G is trying to push down the AI generated garbage out there.

No, do not agree, generally. Sites with a lot of sample data to analyze, like Forbes or Bloomberg are pure ads and blogging and affiliate marketing and duplicated their audience since 2020 according to Search Engine Table. They have a "product" which is valuable information (and topical authority).
Although I completely agree that starting a blog might not be the easiest option, the issue is that the alternatives might just be as hard. Freelancing on upwork is incredibly hard, gaining your first reviews is a grind, and eventually, being a freelancer is just another form of employment: it relies on you doing the work. Building a newsletter ? Okay, but where do you get the traffic ? CZcams ? Twitter ? That might take you years as well before you can start making a decent income (or maybe not, I really don't know). Dropshipping ? Requires you to throw a lot of money to test ads, also, a product can be a winner this month but not the next, you constantly need to stay at the edge and scan for new trends.
That being said, your video on Amazon Influencer Program does make it look like a great opportunity.
Right right. Every option has its pros and cons. The key thing is to find your unfair advantage.
Really appreciate the honesty in this video. So many people in this space post HCU are still selling the dream that you can just set up a blog, create content and make money. I think those days are over. They certainly are for me. I pivoted to something else as soon as the update destroyed my site
Google is a marketing company and makes a huge amount of money may be the main source of income from ads that we see on blogs/videos, the question is "if they turn everything to an Ai bot type thing, what about the publishers and the ads revenue that they get from the ads".

They make money from ads on the Google page. Not that much from blogs. They will replace with AI content on Google page itself. And show more ads.
@@krod16not every search query has a corresponding website trying to advertise with it. People often avoid the ads and want to read stuff. So I don’t see how cutting out the “reading for entertainment” part is good for their bottom line. Display ads are still a thing.
They make more money from ads in the SERPs than some measly display ads. And they will eventually replace "blogs" with SGE and place even more ads in those. It's been a big misconception Google needs bloggers. They don't as we see with the latest updates.@@electricpurple4112

not really, the trick is to choose a niche that's trending. I've seen new blogs getting 400k monthly page views within 2-3 months and with 11 posts, I know that's crazy. That's why I said, choose a niche that's trending. outliers are everywhere.

I'm hearing that you could add products, a newsletter, or a course to that blog.
I started a blog in September 2022 under my own name and in the niche I've been working in for 17 years. I now get 50K clicks per 28 days. 80K monthly visits overall. Clearly, I wouldn't have made it without all the connections I have (which allowed me to get some very valuable links).

Well, you are a developer, right? Probably hard coded your site. The author of the video is a blogger ... kinda big difference. I took a look at your site, lots of dev related stuff. So, yeah. Makes sense.

CZcams isn't safe from SGE either. I have gotten AI generated answers in text pulled from videos. I didn't even have to click on the video...
I run two sites, one was decimated by HCU, one saw a 300% growth spike. In 2024, I feel like you need to adopt an authority mindset around your topic and commit to at least 100 blog posts in a paticular area within your space.
Blogging might be hard, but at the end of the day, you have full control over your audience. You're not on the social media dopamine hampster wheel. The only other platform where you have more control over your reach is an email list, which you can build from blogging and CZcams.

Thanks Doug. Just doubling down on what's working. It's weird cause Google is really just an ad network and it seems like they're shooting both publishers and themselves in the foot from a revenue perspective.
Don't forget about running paid ads to a lead magnet to capture emails/build a base of newsletter subscribers.
I am blogging for 4 years now. Not earning even one dollar per day. ...though i have 1000 visitors per day. Before helpful update it was double. Still people don't want me to say blogging is dead ... People like to hear good things only. Everyone like the illusion of Hope 🙃

I'm doing my best to just give honest thoughts.
You can still blog, get traffic, and make money, with a website that neither big brands, nor Google's SGE can beat. Google, or Forbes, can't beat my language learning platform. And they can't beat my travel destination website (they haven't been there and they haven't done what I've done there). If you offer unique content, Google just has to rank you, and you get the traffic. And traffic means money. Before you start a blog, think well, and be sure you're creating something unique. (Nobody needs your grandma's jam recipe.)
You could be right: Unique Brands with something to sell, but Google seems to be just going to a complete sponsored first page seo.😮

Completely agree. Everything is just matter of the mindset that you have. For me, I just see blogging as going to the gym. If you start is little by little. You cannot compare your progress with someone that have been blogging (trainning) for years.
Blogging early on was very profitable like Don Wilson getting FB Likes for a penny years ago.

Here’s the catch- Google relies on real world events and human updates on all sectors, health, relationships, events, science, travel and weather are all real time. Therefore if bloggers and other media content creators stopped ….well you see the issue right? Google has to come to realization that this is a respectable trade. They already are being sued for copyright infringement on peoples websites. Creating and indexing your site on Google doesn’t mean they own it nor can they scrape it with their AI. That’s against the law and it’s gonna prove to be the case. Also indexing and growing a website does not take a year or two way less if you know what you’re doing.

Can you make a video about making a SIDE husttle by writing article on Upwork and similar things like that. Start by explaining how to OPEN account, how to start from 0, how to find jobs, etc.. I think a lot of people would like to see this.

Good insight Spencer. It's hard to see the feasibility of blogging when there are so many variables that make it hard for the average person to be successful with it. Although I still do see you're teaching people how to build blogs and niche websites as an Amazon affiliate in your newsletter and website. Would you advise against this?

I disagree, with any business you cannot rush it. It takes time, effort and consistency to build any long-term profitable business. To put it bluntly, there's no easy way to make money long-term online without time and effort.

If you have profit from blog, even 50 usd to 100 usd. It probably be income coming years. So you can this money invest in other tries.
Amazon cost a lot and you can lost many money.
Dropshipping cost.
Everything else cost, buying domain cost too.
And additional income from blog if come help offset all costs.
And you can test email list, affilate, promotion on your blog.
Its not main investment but start to your business.

12 hours per day? You could make money in as few as 2 to 6 months, as long as you start building an email list as soon as you have around 10 unique visitors per day.
Something important that avoid to start a blog will be SGE and I think you missed that one .

Not at all. If your entire business model is getting traffic from Google, you might be in trouble. But LOTS of ways to get traffic and make money from display ads and affiliate marketing without traffic from Google.

I am going to do blogging in my skills area, block search engines from indexing my content, and use other traffic sources and methods such as newsletter creation, CPA, and Affiliate marketing using Parasite SEO (isn't reliable for a long time but I will use it), Amazon Associates, Flipkart Affiliate and other stuff such as selling my own educational courses, not depending on Google traffic at all.

1. a Blog alone never ever was or will be a sustainable business
2. doing just the google dance, and figuring out what they constantly changing, is total nonsense. so yes, dump it.
3. a blog makes sense to support your service or product --> but do you have a real service or a real product?
4. if you don't, you don't have a business, so you don't need to blog. period.
5. dropshopping selling any crap you don't care --> don't do it. It's better to sell crap workign at walmart 8rhs a day
6. you wanna sell pets toys for the rest of your life online? that's your passion, your life?
7. get rich --> define being rich. it's not the $$$. being rich means, you are healthy, you have a great family and friends and a passion for something you care and love doing. No matter what it is, art, music, building, creating, crafting, sports, etc. go for that.
8. same for all social media channels. why creating any posts, if you don't have a real passion or real service or product you actually care?
9. so yes, find what you care for, solve problems, make your service or product better than competiton
