      My biggest hurdle right now is keyword research, what should I create blog posts about to make sales not too competitive and not to little volume keep in mind I have semrush already also I want to repurpose my blog posts to medium without damaging my seo for duplicate content is automating the 2 a good idea.

    Blogging can be shocking sometimes. My blog used to get 35k views daily, but suddenly we dropped to 8k daily. I have been working so hard to work on bringing it back, everything is just slow. I thank God blogging is not my only income source.

      maybe deleting old content will help. I got hit with around 50%. I deleted nonperforming content, and now it's rolling again...

    I still blog about traveling in my state as a hobby, because it can help people to be more well-prepared for the trips. Though there are so many cool videos about those attractions, there is not much detail from the short caption, and that's where I fill in the information gap. If I want to make money out of it, I may had quit blogging many years ago.

    Personally, ChatTGP gives me better answers than Google on questions in my field. Instead of browsing through dozens of website, ChatGPT gives me answers straight away. I'm a bit pessimistic regarding the future of blogging.

      If the AI gives you really good answers, it gets that info from really good "blogs"/websites. If AI causes those sites to disappear, AI itself will deteriorate. AI and good content will coexist. There is no place for bad content.

      @@julichurch5646 I think some companies/bloggers go a bit overboard with AI content. They don't see the big picture. Hopefully there will be a new healthy balance at some point. I would think that there's always a place for excellent writers with deep knowledge about specific niches. Good luck.

      @@julichurch5646 I just let my last writer go last week and doing 100% AI now. A lot of those moving to AI will be back to using freelancer writers. If they can't rank with freelance content, they won't rank with AI either. AI is only as good as the inputs or prompts it's given. What most people are seeing right now are users that don't know how to properly use AI and the output shows it. So they think ALL AI content is horrible or obvious. If you know what you're doing and how to really do in-depth on-page SEO, it's game over for the competition. I spent over $15k on content in the last 6 months at Upwork.

    For everybody who has been hit by the latest sh*t updates: E-E-A-T means simply either having a ton of high quality backlinks or having topical authority, meaning writing about almost every possible topic in your niche.
    Everything else is basically useless.
    I've written more than 100 (in depth) articles in my niche, test all the products myself, make my own photos, but as soon the keyword is slightly competetive, I can't rank, because the big sites who haven't even reviewed the products rank at the top.

    I am in the lab testing program and am doing all my searches using it. I think the new snippets are better in some cases. They are certainly longer and more thorough. And even when my search shows that I am one of the referenced sites I still have mixed feelings about the user's follow-through. My traffic and ad revenue are down. However, my blog is my baby. I'm not giving up but I'm certainly putting more effort into CZcams, writing books, and developing courses...

    What works for me is redirecting CZcams traffic to a newsletter submission form. The newsletter open rate is always between 60-70% - that beats everything.
    The website has no blog, just a simple page with a form.

    Bloggers & forums give more, 100x more answers & more specific than any video. I love videos but the latter gives more info/pictures of what I need. Again I love if there is a video but I prefer to read & just see pictures(hence add pictures).
    I will take a great blog over a mediocre video that does not help me nearly as much.
    When I look up things about chickens for example the blogs/forum gives me a lot more producting info than a video, that of which they just "copy" the last person, than any real insight!

    Great video! Im still blogging because I love to it. It’s like my own little corner of the web where I can express my thoughts in a way that is helpful to others. It definitely consumes my time and money lol but I’m enjoying the journey and I know that if I keep going, it’ll eventually pay off.

    The real question is how is are AI companies going to reward the publisher? They are dependent on us to train their models. They take all of our information, but don't reward us for the work.

      The answer is probably a simple "They won't". They don't have a great incentive to reward us for creating new content. They have vast amounts of content available, and new improvements are probably going to be due to improving the underlying model and not so much on adding more data.

      Do you reward all the publishers from which you gather information to monetize on your site? No? So then you're just doing the same, only on a smaller scale. A bigger difference is that (most) AI companies are changing the world for the better, for everyone. That's the reward. Are you changing the world? Maybe, but probably not as much.

    When people are faced with a real world problem, they seek for a real world solution, from a real person that figured out how to resolve it. I think commodity content will phase out slowly but useful content that is helpful to solve a problem, I don’t think people will ever settle for an outdated answer from an AI. The take-away is: Create good content!

      Since there is no way to 100% stop those AI bots from scraping your content, they can just take your upgraded content with your experience, mash it together with another person's experience, spin it and voila - "personal" experience.

      Yes we would! We definitely see it is harder to make an income today with blogging than it was 5-10 years ago. That is why we encourage bloggers participate in other forms of online media and industry outreach. A perfect example of this is our recommendation to do video content (CZcams) along side your blogging content. As a project 24 member you have likely seen our effort to build out the CZcams side of the project 24 membership, and that is because we see video as a great way to keep your online business viable.

ChaptGPT wigged me out when I first looked at it, and like many others, saw it as the beginning of the end. However, I have come to completely agree that AI is not a threat, at least not yet anyway. 😄

    I really liked this video ..I’ve been blogging for a couple of years now and the reality is ?? learning SEO and how to earn anything from your content is not easy, there’s a considerable amount of technical ability to this…after a couple of years and this amount of time and effort -it’s ultimately enjoyable even tho I’ve personally made zero from this endeavor and have less than 10 clicks a month currently I’m in this for the long haul -thx guys !

    I tried blogging for the money and got frustrated so many times. Now I'm just blogging about my favorite shows on a Ghost blog and not even serving ads on that blog at the moment. I do it without any monetary incentive and Google sends me traffic. We'll see where it goes. The reason I keep doing it is because it provides a creative outlet. I'm a software engineer and I want to escape the rat race someday soon, but I also don't want to be miserable and create content I don't love like a robot to get there :)

    Great, informative content, as usual! Very encouraging to see your human approach in a time of mass production of AI blog posts. The only remaining concern is the advantage AI bloggers get in topical authority as they cover a topic's queries more quickly than human bloggers. This way, ironically enough, they become better experts in the niche regardless of the quality of each post. So, do you guys think Google will change the criteria for topical authority?

    I saw a discussion on facebook where someone just said "why would you even read websites? We now have social media (tiktok) and it's way more accurate and faster"...... The TRUE concern is that the world is happy with the dumbed down, superficial and possibly wrong answer, because research takes a minimum of effort.

      Not everyone is content with 3-second answers. Most of us aren’t. Occasional comments on social media hardly reflect the behavior of the masses.
      If this were the general sentiment, we wouldn’t be getting the kind of traffic we are on our blogs.

      @@IncomeSchool Good for you, but the future is leaning towards 3 second answers and AI generated pages. 'Most of us' is what I would like to believe as well. Sadly, 'most of us' is just another misguided idea. Social media has a lot more traffic, and increasing daily. What are 100k pageviews a month compared to 2M views per vid a week? And there are many vids with millions of views, not quite as many well written articles....
      Once again, I wish to stress out that social media is like a poison: it slowly feeds the general pop with misinformation.
      And sadly, if Google keeps punishing us for doing the research then why should we? You can spend 4 hours just on research and not get a single hit while some uninformed kid on tiktok gets 2M views.
      How is it fair?

      When I want the answer to something, I don’t go to a video. It’s faster to go straight to the answer in a written article. For entertainment, a video is better, but for useful information, written word is where is at.

    I finally started my blog with the help of P24 membership. Despite the AI fear, I do believe that nothing will replace actual human experience, in terms of so many types of content such as actual product reviews, etc.
    Ricky’s right. Just keep writing quality, helpful articles that aim to make a positive difference in readers’ lives, and the reward will follow.
    Right now, to keep the money pressure off, I promised myself that the blog I’m building will be an experiment project, for me to learn how to become a profitable blogger.
    Per Nathan, use AI as a Tool, but don’t entirely depend on it for info. I use it to fast track my productivity. But at the end of the day, the quality of my content is MY responsibility alone.
    Don’t lose heart, fellow bloggers. The game is FAR from over.
    As long as Humans live, Blogging will be relevant. Cheers. 🙂

    1.5 years with Income School on P24, 162 blog posts and I’m getting 2500 pageviews per month and many posts aren’t getting indexed. THAT is demotivating!

      Your first priority should be to manually try to index them before writing too many. Also link any articles that is indexed and gets traffic to the ones that are not indexed. If all sale fails try an indexing service.

      You're being sold on "quality" content and 99% of independent bloggers don't know what quality content really is.
      What does your data look like in GSC under Page experience and core web vitals? Those could be part of the indexing issue.

As they would need to see return visitors , on page time, exit pages , total page views per visitor and GSC cannot tell you how your visitors see you as a brand and trust aspect. Not only for google but also sponsors and advertising. I’ve don’t both models. Bulk and low quantity/high quality’s. To be fair most need backlinks to grow above that brick wall level of traffic.

    Blogging will still viable in the future if you don’t write posts with the sole purpose of ranking on Google. You can create a community on CZcams and other places, get people on your list, and the blog posts are the medium they consume content. The ‘churn out dozens of simple articles fast’ model will come to an end because they won’t get traffic, but brands that are hands on, create great visual diagrams and content..will continue to grow, build an audience, and earn $ for creators.

    I've always said don't put all your eggs in one basket. That's why I have multiple income streams in addition to blogging. This is also why I'm also diversifying my content - not everything will answer a question or be "helpful", but at the same time I'd be sharing my experience (within my niche) and do internal linking where relevant. Oh, and an email list.

What happens is that my blog just recently started appearing high on google search results. Actually I have 1st page appearances in about 8 of my blog posts and even 1 in the 2nd place spot. However, I'm still not receiving traffic. Am i doing something wrong?

    Im actually rejoining income school this month because im starting another business. The course was excellent in the past i remember but im rejoining because of the community and the added benefit of the framework to work within when starting afresh.
    I think that for businesses to survive weneed to put our personal element into it, maje it personal. We see a trend for regionality, even personalisation. Its actually a reaction to the bland faceless online business abd call centres. Thats tge strategy im taking anyway. Proper service, personalisation, relationship with customer. AI cant give that.

    Hi, I have a question Ricky. I did the same, I created a lot of commodity contents, and the site got hit by algorithm. I had 500 contents there, now I have deleted 300 of them. Now I've 200 posts. Should I put my time and effort to improve those 200 posts, or move with other site. Can I again make the site take off? I'm stuck right now. Thanks.

      It would be best to enhance the 200 posts. That's a significant amount of content. If you start from scratch, it will take a lot of time. Enhance the guns that you've got now.

    The real thing - I have used chat gpt a lot more than Google in past two months. Similar will be the story of others. Info products are only way moving forward is what I feel.

    My content have been able to do well over the past 3 years against all Google's updates. But in the last 6 months, my traffic has declined by 65%, even after my rankings have not been affected.

    Of all blogging channels I’ve seen yours stays the most actually informative. I wanna put niche pursuits there but their videos have less method in my opinion, it’s more of success stories and motivation which often need large sums of money upfront which doesn’t work for most people and that’s where you win with actionable advice.

    Does AI worry me? Yes, but from my perspective, all I have witnessed is vanilla content produced from it. In my niche, I feel safe because it’s incredibly human, for lack of a better term. I see the results from AI, like the pictures on the wiki, are very bland.

    I find that gpt 4 content requires less editing than content that I used to get from a service such as iwriter. However, I am not able to publish hundreds of articles like some people supposedly do... I still heavily the content, edit the subheadings, layout, answer targets and try to make it sound less like a wikipedia entry than a niche blog post.

    I was part of project 24 in 2019. I did EVERYTHING these guys told me to do. I only wrote 16 posts and then had personal family issues come up in life that have taken most of my time. I have almost 10000 views a month just off 16 posts. I also make a little side money. I’m going to start back on it now because I’ve settled my family issues. But you have to do everything they say down to the t and you will get traffic and make money. And when I say everything I mean EVERYTHING down to the finest details.

      @@fredericocatarino9726 Just goes to show how limited your mindset is. First of all, I said almost 10,000. The most I’ve got in the month was about 8700 page views. And another reason is my website has been sitting there since 2019 so it has had four years to gain that much traffic. I don’t make much money, but I do have a few affiliate links that bring in something. But whatever I don’t have to prove myself to anyone. I’m just trying to help someone else. Problem is a lot of people don’t actually listen to everything these guys say.

    I disagree that AI is this year's equivalent to siri. It's a quantum leap beyond it. The people who make generic content with AI don't know how to prompt it, nor do they know how to chain prompts together to produce better content.

      That’s not actually what I said. I agree that it’s leaps beyond Siri. That doesn’t mean it’s going to prevent people from reading articles in a significant way.
      They have been dozens of potential disruptions. This one is different. They’re all different though. That’s why I drew the analogy to Siri.

    “All you need is a domain and posting:” HAHAHAHA NO. You need a PRODUCT. Blogging is SUPPLEMENTAL or PASSION PROJECT only in 2023. Blogging is a joke to base a business around. You will spend YEARS just getting a few readers. You can add a blog to your product site. You can add a blog to your social media & youtube descriptions. You cannot start a blog in 2023 and not be COMPLETELY overshadowed by reddit and social media and corporate websites and 10,000 Indians doing it better than you. Those guys are strong & they work in groups. If you want to do a niche reader blog in 2023, you better ALREADY BE KNOWN, have social media & youtube, have products, have a presence already besides your blog.

      Not to contradict you, but I just wrote a post for a brand new website that's getting 1000 page views a month. No outreach, no brand, no link building.
      I think the problem is that AI and other forms of getting information is definitely changing, but only for certain groups of people. Just like Ricky and Nathan are talking about.

    Blogging is still worth it, why people are complaining about Ai so much? Over the years I've stumbled upon some blog post and i can tell you they are BORING, too wordy and drawn out , can easily tell the writer was struggling to put the post together. Ai is great for creating high quality content then you can tweak it however you want. People are complaining becuase they aren't coming up with good content, if your articles aren't ranking high simply go back to the drawing bored, switch things up, add more topics for discussion , give people a variety, move away from the niche down garbage.

    I'm a big fan of you guys but I think you're being very biased. Comparing modern day ai and what's coming to alexa is ridiculous it's like comparing computers before they had an operating system to computers of today.

I dont olike google, never have and never will. Im an author, and everything is amazon dependent. Im only sticking to it because I like amazon more than google. But amazon make more on my books than I do. And thats reflected all over the net from where Im looking. Just another job I dont want. For all the dcrap spouted about passion.     You guys are being very dishonest with respect to the risks of AI to bloggers. People are slow to adopt new technologies? ChatGPT is the fastest-growing app in history, so using people's reluctance to adopt new technology as an argument is biased, to say the least. Also, it's not that AI is not going to continue improving. ChatGPT was released just 8 months ago and developers have not had the time to start creating countless "X for Y" apps. This is only going to get worse (for us bloggers) and better for users.

      There are still millions of people that don't know about ChatGPT my friend.
      Also, that someone knows about ChatGPT and creates an account doesn't mean they are an early adopter.
      They basically have to change their habitual daily routine from using Google to ChatGPT.
      That's a very difficult thing to do and it would take many people months if not years to make the switch.
      That's the meaning of slow adopters

It is extremely niche from now on, for readers only, youtube is killing it - notice that you are presenting YOUR content here in a video & not in a written blog post. People do not search for articles anymore. They LITERALLY search *topic of interest* “reddit” now because forums are more valuable than blogs, by miles. Blog because you love to blog. basing a BUSINESS on blogging is NOT SMART in 2023. Have a BUSINESS, then put a blog on it. Do not tell people in 2023 that blogging is still a business model - it isn’t.

Blogging is for businesses with products now. Game developer update blogs. Laser, CNC manufacturers. You name it. But don’t be telling people they can start up a blog in 2023 using Adsense or amazon links & still be successful - that ship sailed years ago & managing a blog, with privacy policies, disclosures, all of that to consider, is not worth it. Make products, sell products, blog about it, sure. But if “all” you are doing is “starting to blog about what you like”, that is a big waste of time in 2023. Let everyone go start a blog, we will see who is right & who is left. Pivot. Start speaking to product makers & service providers. Teach existing businesses to incorporate a blog, you will bounce back right away, you are good at this.

It becomes a money pit at some point. I even spoke to other folks in my field who recently switched from blogging to doing short form video content, it seems to be the way to go in 2023.
