Depending on the way you choose to go about it, you can play higher than you'd imagine on the clarinet. Soprano sax especially, as they have more overtones in their sound and a lot of other science lol.
Wolpe wrote a great clarinet solo for Pete Fountain. most of it is quite playable by an advanced high school student, but it ends on the Altissimo C... so when you say it isn't practical... actually, it is....
I kind of just meant it wasn't terribly common at least in most songs in general. You might occasionally see it in an advanced solo piece but fairly rarely in a band or orchestra piece since that register is much more practical on flute or piccolo. it is typically the highest note that pro classical players learn so I that was what I showed in the video. Your video might have been worthwhile to anyone with the ability to ignore the background music you so curiously included with this clip. I wasn’t one of those people………….so I bailed early. I can’t imagine when you were learning clarinet, your teacher played background music.
Yeah once again I am sorry for adding background music to this video. If I were to make this video now I definitely would have done things differently including the music but I made this a year ago and didn't want to ever unlist it. If you would like to see any of the specific fingerings, there are timestamps for all of them but I am sorry I made this video poorly and it's now reached a bit of popularity
