I used to be a manger at chipotle and I will agree the food on the line is already pre made but we spent hours prepping every single menu item by hand, even shredding 50lb blocks of cheese at 6am. And when things run out we have to either prep more or cook more food and it’s crazy. But I agree when it’s delivered it should be very quick
I can now confirm that you worked sauté at the restaurant. Leaving the eye burning after removing the pan is the sign of a good sauté chef. Why turn it off when I know the next fire is right around the corner.

@@sumanyumehrotra4025 sauteing is cooking with a small amount of oil or fat over high heat in a thin, or shallow I should say, pan and a sauté chef is responsible for cooking meats and stuff this way, as well as preparing sauces and gravies that will go with other dishes. It’s a super important role in the kitchen and basically - they’re saying that he’s a good sauté chef because he doesn’t turn off the stove after taking the pan off because he’s about to throw something over the heat again soon after.

Disagree! EVERY cooking show is about "faster". Weissman was/is one of the few that favoured QUALITY and taking the TIME to get the recipe right. "But Faster" is funny, but "But Cheaper" and "But Better" are, in fact, WAY BETTER.

I like these "faster than" videos a lot. You illustrate what steps can be eliminated in a pinch. Results not as good as using all the proper steps, but highly acceptable results. Thanks.

Is it just me, or having restaurant locations for take out be 15 minute drive away seem far? If I'm grabbing take out, it should be 5 minutes away. Having 30 minutes of driving makes "but faster" an easy contest.

Well depends on if your using door dash or something related, It always takes them forever when the restaurant is like a mile away....sometimes I come home afterwork too tired to cook or go out again for food lol

He's gone corporate. We need to demand better - he's pandering to the lowest common denominator now. Here's an idea - have the guy beat you (because sometimes eating out IS in fact faster) but show him how a few extra minutes at home can make the experience exponentially better? Would that hurt Papa's ego? There's not a chance I'm watching this series until the score gets settled.

Where you can create a meal with only a few ingredients, or a simple version of a complex dish. Like a simple ramen that’s not instant, but also doesn’t take 2 days.

I woke up super early (never do that), saw a steak video and got hungry, ran to the store, got steak (never do that), cooked the steak (which cost an arm and a leg, and then some), and no one wants to eat it.
Not affiliated, but the Instant Pot Evo Duo Plus is a huge step up. Heatproof handles on the bowl, for a start. Thought of it when you nearly burned your fingers. (The handles also stop the bowl annoyingly spinning when you stir.) Plus sous-vide function and a much easier and safer pressure release. Lots more manual control as well.

He used a pressure cooker for the rice to speed up the cook time and you don't need to soak canned beans.
